This is amazing, with one exception - how are you going to make your own tortillas, aoili etc but then just throw canned beans into it? Dried beans are so much cheaper, healthier and tastier; you just have to soak then boil them and you've got enough fresh, preservative-sludge-free, delicious beans to last multiple meals
They turn out very well with slow cooker! I leave mines all night on low after soaking them for about a day :) they turn out much better than with the pressure cooker.
A couple suggestions (this looks extremely tasty btw) unless you're cooking for a group, this is a very involved recipe for a single serving. For the best bang for your buck in terms of ingredients and time commitment, you can make a larger batch of these and freeze them to get frozen burrito convenience but gormet burrito flavor. All ingredients will freeze just fine, and you can reheat in toaster oven or air fryer, hell even microwave will do a decent job of reheating, but will make the tortilla more steamed than crisp. I would recommend using cheese to glue the burrito shut by lightly frying the seam. I also like my burritos lightly browned and flattened both sides but that's me personally. Rinsing rice: no need for fancy colander. Simply use the pot that the rice cooker comes with and swirl the rice with the water, and dump out the starchy water three times. You can cook rice by weight if you use a scale. The rice to water is still 1:2 ratio, so if you use 200 grams rice, use 400 grams water. FYI a serving of rice for a rice bowl thing is about 150 grams, and for your burrito because other ingredients, more like 90 grams.
If you rinse the rice the scale is no longer 1:2 unless you're weight the rice beforehand, rinsing, and then adding water until you get that 3x weight. If you add 2 cups of water to 1 cup of wet/rinsed rice, that's going to be way too much water. It's really more like 1:1.25 after rinsing.
Also if you want it quicker (yes I know it won't be as fancy but sh it will still be good), use pre-made tortillas, and also just add some cilantro/lime to microwave rice 🤷♀

Are we not gonna talk about how we never seen that oven grilled chicken recipe before on RUclips. Bro Ive been eating cardboard my whole life compared to that. Season char and bake that's all I needed to do my whole life. Thank you papa
I believe with all of my heart that Josh can make his own charro* beans from scratch. That's the only thing always missing from these Tex Mex videos. I know they take several hours to cook and prepare properly, but since when has papa cared about that?
Just on principle, this is a "But Cheaper" episode and he went for canned beans instead of beans from the pot (frijoles de la olla), which granted, take a couple of hours, but it's not "But Faster" This could have saved a few cents lol In any case, for a "gringo" burrito that competes with "Chipotle", this is not bad at all. Burro percheron (Sonora or Baja style) is where it's at!

Just really expensive to eat out but then buying all the ingredients is obviously cheaper, it’s just a lot of work and then if you’re a single person or a couple, you’ve got fuck tons of ingredients left over because you’re not gonna stuff an entire bag of lettuce into one or two burritos.

Not to mention that all the other ingredients like flour and salt and stuff you can’t just buy $0.05 worth. You have to buy a whole package and pay for the full price so these titles are total clickbait
Will be making this tonight, will use ground chicken, as I already had that in my freezer. I wanted to calculate if the price would be about the same here in the Netherlands as it is in US according to this video. My total came to 14,95 euro, I can probably make about 6 to 8 burritos, so thats 2,50 to 1,80 per burrito 👌 I did get some pre mixed seasoning packets as well, so I didn't have to get every spice separately that I didn't have yet. (That will then sit in your spice rack for months before you use them again 🙈)

When he said "Hot like the Sun In The a Bahamas," I felt that because its extra hot over here this summer😔
I love your videos! They help me to feel better when I don’t feel good! Thank you for being you and never looking back! Much respect dude.
2.15 per serving but total food cost is like 50 dollars the ingredients.
Technically u can get like individual packs for sauce etc
So make 23.255 burritos from those ingredients?
@@ChrisBrown-dz9sz No, because you're not using _all_ of the ingredients to make a burrito or two. That's the thing about ingredients: you buy them to stock your kitchen, for use in _multiple dishes_ - not just for one dish. That just isn't efficient shopping, and certainly not efficient cooking.
Not $50 at all but yeah, that's the problem with these types of vids... they're under the assumption that you already have some of the ingredients and include that in the "cheap price" and then they portion it like "8¢ per ingredient" lol.
I could buy sandwich bread for $1 (crappy bread but still), mayo for $1 and "cheese" for $1 at the dollar store and make up to 10 sandwiches and do the same... "30¢ per sandwich". 😆
@@timterrell2554 You literally explained how this works. Good job, you figured out math. Proud of you.
Petition for “Theme Park food - but cheaper”
Or but better
Theme park food is usually SUPER cheap in making... they only sell them at high prices.
Wouldn’t that just be… food?
Yeeess
so.. just hot dogs, burgers and chicken?
Joshuas over here making his own tortillas while I just made myself frozen chicken nuggets 🥲
Don't knock frozen nuggets. The ones I bought are way better than anything I ever got at Chickka Fil....and my sauces are better too.
Yeah. Frozen fried foods are not bad at all.
They do be good tho
@@ginawiggles918 lies and slander
I just finished making this and over the course of my sweaty labors my husband thanked me multiple times for making it. We are so f****** excited to eat this.
My cat also started eating the tortillas.
Does it really serve 4 ?

can’t believe josh didn’t stop to dance to the sound of his rice cooker
I had a lot of leftover mayo sauce so I put it on croissants with cheddar and ham. Best breakfast ever!
Where does this man live that he is getting boneless skinless chicken thighs for $1.02 per pound? That is absolutely unheard of in the US, cheapest I have ever seen is $1.69 per pound on super sale.
Texas, though I dont think they’re that cheap over there.
Haha, cries in European super market prices
2 Jalapenos for 5 cents? This man can buy 40 jalapenos for a dollar?
yeah i dk what he's talking about with half these prices. seems like every video that's titled "________ for cheap" is like oh yeah a meal for 4 is only $3.50
Sometimes gets 99 cent on thighs on sale on kroger once a month, just have to be lucky
Good morning to the early squad.
hey
Good morning Omar. How are you today
You have one of the better cooking channel out there. props to editing. you pack a ton of info in a very entertaining manner. Thank you
Early Gang making Papa Joshua proud 😼🤝
Hi
Early gang early gang early gang early gang
Morning
Just made this, and wow, it was by far the best burrito I've ever had. The chicken and aioli sauce were particular standouts. Not sure the homemade tortillas are worth the time/labor personally (I'd just buy from the store next time) but otherwise I definitely recommend making this.
I recommend putting the finished burrito in the pan and grilling it a bit as well
When josh doesnt say " Papa no kiss" is when you know something is wrong
I swear each time i do something that involves a breading station and there's this little naked pixel of chicken I can hear Joshua's Voice "PAPA NO LIKE U!" :D
Rumors say:

I made this exactly minus the bacon and it was AMAZING 🤩. I am so making this again for my family and the tortillas were 💣. The fajita veggies and rice are very good. I subbed the chicken with tandoori and I would suggest making the aioli with a little less lemon juice than suggested and upping the garlic. Otherwise 10/10 another awesome tried out recipe from you Josh. Literally never fails to impress. (Third recipe so far)
Are we not gonna talk about how we never seen that oven grilled chicken recipe before on RUclips. Bro Ive been eating cardboard my whole life compared to that. Season char and bake that's all I needed to do my whole life. Thank you papa
WE NEED A FULL VERSION OF "HOT OH SO HOT LIKE THE SUN" NOW
Yes!! Omaga, I listened to it about 10 times before moving on
Who else really wants Josh to bring back fermentation Fridays????😂🥺
🙌🏼
Watching these videos on a sound system with a subwoofer makes the beats all the better
I believe with all of my heart that Josh can make his own charro* beans from scratch. That's the only thing always missing from these Tex Mex videos. I know they take several hours to cook and prepare properly, but since when has papa cared about that?
take less than an hour with an instant pot
Charro beans. The word is masculine. Frijoles charros.
If you are making a batch make enough to store in freezer bags and thaw when needed.
No sabo
Just on principle, this is a "But Cheaper" episode and he went for canned beans instead of beans from the pot (frijoles de la olla), which granted, take a couple of hours, but it's not "But Faster" This could have saved a few cents lol In any case, for a "gringo" burrito that competes with "Chipotle", this is not bad at all. Burro percheron (Sonora or Baja style) is where it's at!
Can we have a “but, fewer dishes” series?
Congratulations on the upcoming book Joshua, I’m definitely pre-ordering it. And if it’s anything like these videos it’ll be used very frequently.
I never thought I’d be so excited to make a burrito AND my own tortillas before. Thoroughly loving your channel. Thanks!
I love content like this. Entertaining, and informational. The various dishes and methods used to cook them are challenging enough to make me feel like im learning and growing, and it really helps that the channel has a great sense of humor. Thank you to Josh and his team for helping me along my journey of becoming someone that cooks. Wish y’all the best!
JOAH PLEASE KEEP MAKING VIDEOS LIKE THESE! I’m rollin on a TOIGHT budget and need this.
Josh flipped the tortilla with his hand. He's invited to the carne asada
Made this tonight, I don’t think I’ll be able to eat a chipotle burrito again without fantasizing over how good this was. Thank you papa for the recipe.
This burrito is delish I'm here again for the recipe. I only watched your video maybe 16 times. This is a must make and do not skip the bacon 🤤
The way you made the rice and the adobo chicken was exactly how we did it when I use to work at Chipotle 😂

Josh: "We wanted to do this one cheaper, so we stole the peppers and chicken from a local farmer."
You cook like we do in the Caribbean. Everything made from scratch and washing the rice is a must.
I think that Joshua Weissman is the Micheal Reeves of cooking.
Wow... I can't unsee it now.
Eh, needs more self deprecating humor, needs to film more videos in the middle of the night, upload way less often, and projects that end up being counterproductive (eg something like chair you can't sit on, the robot that shoots energy drink at you to stay awake) to earn that title imo.
Why would you say something so controversial yet so brave?
thats a big jump but you got the right idea
Yeah Josh is paralyzed to normal middle class Americans.
I wish I could live in a place where I could get 2 pounds of chicken thighs for $2.
They usually get on sale for 0.99 per pound on kroger once a while
My SO and I just made this for dinner! Winner. Thanks Josh. I've been a fan for a few years now and it's a goal of mine to cook all of your recipes.
let us all agree that papa makes most lit INTROs over the internet 🔥
"Oily water"
A part of my brain: *dies*
no lard? what the......
Oily water is cheaper than lard unless you keep rendered grease on hand which few people do these days (don't punch me, I'm team lard.)
Made this a few minutes ago. Even my super picky wive loved it and said it was better than Chipotle! Thanks bro!
I wonder what was the exact amount of time it took to prep and cook these fine tubes of love?
make the pan really hot and then just go by looks, if the pan is not hot enough you wont be able to bend them nicely messed up the first adjusted temp then all were perfect fairly easy
I made these and they were as good as he says. They’re still as nice cold the next day too (as long as you’re making the tortilla fresh). But bro... can’t forget about the aioli
no joke this taste like a burrito you would buy. top best burrito evar for 2 buckssssss
Burritos are expensive in South Africa. Like REALLY expensive. It’s a treat to get a good burrito somewhere. So this is a really helpful video. Thanks papa
Ja no, if you wanna get tortillas at checkers you’ll be bankrupting yourself. Much better to make it at home, it seems
@@ameliasteynberg5841 yeah I’m more of a Woolworths person lol never been a fan of checkers. Low quality for high prices.. Or on a budget I go to Spar. But anyway for me the expensive part is the restaurants, they’ll charge a lot. Like Mexican fresh, Chiapas, Salsa or La Rosa. Just really expensive to eat out but then buying all the ingredients is obviously cheaper, it’s just a lot of work and then if you’re a single person or a couple, you’ve got fuck tons of ingredients left over because you’re not gonna stuff an entire bag of lettuce into one or two burritos.
6:25 got me in a really good mood😂
Joshua seriously needs to release a collection of his greatest hits. He has a tremendous singing voice.
With all the clickbait crap RUclips channels out there I decided to clean up my RUclips feed and only subscribe to channels that educate and make me a better person. This channel is 100% without a doubt one of those. Thanks for the quality content
Okay but seriously tho, where are you buying two pounds of chicken thighs for $2.04?? That would cost like €8 at my local grocery store.
Exactly what I was thinking, the price on this one seems kind of ridiculously low when compared to the chicken I can buy in my area
Or, for that matter, 2 jalapenos for 5 cents??? I guess maybe in Texas you can get those prices, but you'd be smoking crack if you expect that cost up in Canada
I literally paused on my TV, and opened it on my phone to find this comment. Most of the other prices were fine up to that then....um, josh...no. Also, yeah, I dont have room for a special rice cooked, im gonna continue using my instant pot.
Not to mention that all the other ingredients like flour and salt and stuff you can’t just buy $0.05 worth. You have to buy a whole package and pay for the full price so these titles are total clickbait
@@rubyredboots4621 and the rice cooker he uses is about $300. I see them at the Japanese market
Everytime i think i wont break and laugh at the interludes, Papa goes just far enough with the joke to crack me up 😂
Ohh I made them today. It was the highlight of my week.

I love how in 3 mins there's already 1k views.
Sometimes I feel like I’m watching an episode of Trixie and Katya when I watch Josh 😂😂😂
I want to see you do a “but better” on costco turkey provolone sandwich, I Recommend that you eat it when is hot, I what to se you make the bread they use and the pesto mayo 🤤

I'm surprised you didn't buy dry black beans, soak them and season them yourself...but yes, this burrito looks amazing. Definitely gonna make this sometime soon.
He’s not even hardcore enough to plant, water, fertilize, harvest, and dry his own beans, ffs. Anything else is half-assing it.
@@canadiangemstones7636 There's no need to be hyperbolic. There's a lot of ways to fairly effortlessly lower the cost even further than what Joshua has, like deboning your own chicken thighs or buying your beans dried. Considering the series has a large emphasis on from scratch cooking (in the case of pastas and bread doughs) it does stand out as an oddity.
Still fun to watch though.
So ingredient cost is $2.15, add a couple of dollars for cooking costs and that is still an extremely good deal for a burrito that looks this good.
When he posts our days become 100000 times better
