SCIENCE CAN EXPLAIN!!! 1 Day = rotation of the planet sunset to sunset is 24 hours! 1 Month = the 30 day moon cycle! 1 Year = the rotation of the earth around the sun 360 days! But there's NO astronomical explanation for a 7 day week cycle! The HOLY BIBLE is the only accurate explanation for 7 literal 24 hour days for the week!!! Dear Betty, that is a very good question... and it is quite a long one to answer but I’ll just give you the concept here. Of course, as Orthodox Christians, when it comes to our doctrinal faith, we go back to the doctors of the Church including St. Basil. However this subject is more related to science than it is to dogma. And, actually the fathers had diverse opinions on these days. Therefore your question is heavily linked with the understanding of inspiration in the fathers. Should we expect the early Church fathers to know the science of today? A quick look at their writings, including the hexameron of St. Basil, will clearly reveal that no we can’t. The faith was revealed by Christ to the Church and therefore it doesn’t change. How we deal with science and relating Scripture and science is always evolving as science itself evolves. Also, Scripture has a completely different purpose than science. That’s the gist of things. Firmament means "the vault or arch of the sky." It is not a term that is incompatible with a sphere. It is how the sky looks to an observer on the ground. The purpose of Genesis is not to explain science. How would people of 3000 years ago have been expected to understand quantum physics?
That is good. Type in NASA 666. If you decode their name you get the number of the beast. Just look it up in google images. Now I found a very shocking documentary with very interesting information about the flat earth theory. I highly recommend you watching it. Hi in Hebrew the word raqiya or raqa... means a workman casts it, and a goldsmith overlays. It's like the heavens or God himself overlaying the earth.
