@@JamaicanMeCrazythere's two sides to a coin and Yohan may be looking at only one of them. Of course it's up to him to continue or call it quits but the truth is the truth, his glory days seem to be over. There are three kinds of Jamaicans as it pertains to his career, but he seems to be forgetting two and only focuses on one. There are Jamaicans who love him dearly and are bothered by his injury and how it has hampered him from producing the goods that we all know that he's capable of and there are also another group of Jamaicans who are totally unconcerned. Yohan focuses only on the small number of folks who are asking him to retire in comparison to those who support him. I am one of those who supports him but I do not see those who think it's time for him to quit as being disrespectful, because many of those persons are constantly stating that he is tarnishing his legacy and in no way should persons who hold such a view be considered disrespectful.

And let's NOT FORGET that LEGENDARY 3rd leg run at the Olympics, they were behind, and he put them back in front. That man gifted, and it's sadto see how much he isn't respected enough. As a Jamaican, I can safely say, he’s absolutely correct and it’s heartbreaking to hear. No matter how we feel we MUST learn to take responsibility for the things we say or type. He’s human, and for years Jamaican have bashed him because he isn’t producing. If he wants to continue running, let him run. Where he qualifies, he qualifies. Where/ when he doesn’t, he doesn’t. For your muscle to separate from your bone and being told you’d never run again and still be able to run? Nothing short of a miracle. I’m sorry Yohan, that you’ve had to hear and read the words of our callous Jamaicans - many of who couldn’t walk a mile in your track shoe.

Firstly, it's an unfortunate statement. Only Yohan can decide when to retire and only Yohan can determine if it's financially beneficial to continue to compete. From what i observe, many fans are disappointed when Yohan doesn't do well, not because they don't support him but quite the opposite. He has set such a high bar that fans actually want him to succeed and they are indeed disappointed when he doesn't.
Yohan has won 17 gold, 4 silver and 5 bronze for Jamaica from youth to senior level for Jamaica and will go down as an all time great. Many sprinters in Jamaican history have not achieved that level of greatness and Yohan should be a case study on how top junior athletes transition to top world leading senior athletes because as we know most of our top male juniors do not make that transition.
Thank you for representing Jamaica Yohan. I would caution you on speaking this nonsense to foreign media though. It doesn't serve anyone well.

We just see him for what he is now-an older sprinter with mileage and nagging injuries. We thank him for that wonderful span of years where Jamaica’s mens team were dominant but it’s on to the new generation now. We are behind the younger guys and there’s nothing wrong with that. If Blake places, we will congratulate him but we don’t expect it. Kishane ran 9.77 the other day. The other younger guys are running 9.8. Yohan has been a great champion for his country, no doubt about that. However, he should have taken a page out of Bolt's book and retire when his strong performances were etched on our minds. You begin to tarnish your legacy when you continue to run and clearly don't have it in you to be competitive. It isn't respect or lack of it from Jamaicans why Yohan is finishing last or close to it in most of his recent races in recent years. Mentally he wants to do well but physically it's just not there anymore and he needs to accept that he is way past his best.If Yohan wants to continue running then do it for the fun of it and stop thinking that he can stand atop a podium as a medalist again. Just run for fun and for the love of the sports and you won't have time to think about lack of respect or any other negatives. When you think about these negatives it suggests you are seriously contemplating winning races at the highest level and frankly...ain't going to happen.

I do believe as a nation we should show our track athletes more love and appreciations. These are the faster humans in history representing a small island. We must can give them an applause, a salute and a cheer. Big up two other athletes nesta carter and micheal frater

Its so much the not the winning Jamaicans have a problem with. Its the fact that you disrespected the man who coached you to become the second fastest man alive. When Coach Mills would try and talk with you to mentor and guide you ,you didnt want to hear anything from him and you run him.Bolt said it best in an interview when defending Coach Mills. When Yohan had his injury earlier in his career ,Coach Mills advised you to X strategy, you decided you wanted to ignore the Coach advice and do Y strategy making your injury into a career ending one. From then you have never been the same. When Bolt retired you could have been getting all those gold medals,if you had not been arrogant just listened to your Coach.

Peter Lloyd sorry to admit that I subscribed to your channel only because of this content and I watch them all, I searched for them. My heart cut into pieces when I heard this interview. I consider myself a patriotic Jamaican and I have the highest level of respect for Mr Blake for the way he challenged the lightning (Bolt) in his prime, that respect will never die, so I feel bad he says outsiders respect him more than me.

I think Yohan is frustrated based on his statement. However, he is respected and has been shown respect by Jamaica. Coach Francis said it best the other day in an interview where he said Yohan was unfortunate to be in the era with Bolt. Asafa went through the same thing too, the difference was that Asafa was humble, and Blake wasn't.

It's kind of sad, because Yohan doesn't seem to realize how legendary he is, that he has made it to the very top, is the second fastest person in history behind only Usain Bolt. He seems to think in his mind that he's an upcoming athlete trying to make it, when he should really now be happily retired - like Bolt. I'm not telling him to retire, but to just take a minute, look in the mirror and realize that he is more than a champion. He's a legend and is very much appreciated by Jamaicans. His achievements will always be there to be viewed on RUclips.

Don't allow injuries to mess with your self being. Do some self introspection and move unto something else. We love and respect you. Your love for God and your humble spirit is commendable. Stay strong my son. If you win or lose it is okay. Remember this is the country that molds you, it is your cultural base and wherever you go you will always be a Jamaican.

Yohan,.. in life it's not what happens to you,... it's how you respond. Let's not forget that Usain Bolt had his retirement savings stolen. Right here in Jamaica, after what he has done for the country he could also say he was disrespected. He was defrauded of approximately J$2 BILLION. That's a heavy blow for anyone. Not the same situation as you,...
however it seems that track and field taught him well and without going into detail,... he is still standing strong, I haven't heard him saying anything bad about Jamaica. Stuff happens.....

The problem with people like Blake and his griping is that he doesn't want to face the brutal reality about where he is in his Career. And because persons are being frank with him they don't "respect" him. It's the typical mindset of some of these Jamaican "celebrities" that if you don't agree with them you disrespect them or you're bad mind. He needs to be honest with himself and move on. Don't overstay your welcome and spoil your legacy. If you're done, you're done.

Yohan you have done your best! At some point you have to come to terms with reality. If you are injured don't pressure it more to win at the expense of your health. Preserve yourself and step to something else even in sports that will not be so taxing on your body. FYI when you were winning we rejoiced with you. If someone else is winning now. Rejoice with them. Don't take it personal!

I’m sorry you feel this way. You have represented Jamaica well and we do appreciate all our athletes. The cheers have just moved on to athletes who are most likely to succeed at the Olympics. Other athletes before your time might have felt that way too, and have moved on to let the upcoming athletes shine in their glory. Shelly Ann does not get the amount of coverage she once did, maybe you should speak to her how to handle those feelings. We have not forgotten what you did for your country. You are just going through some tough times and we all understand that, and really do not want to showcase your struggles. The young men and women who are being highlighted today will have to face giving up their glory one day too. Don’t be so hard on yourself.
