Clearly you know nothing about the discontent of the 1970s - for a start Labour were not in Government until 1974 and then Thatcher took power in 1979. For the record, there were more strike days under Ted Heath's Conservative Government than under Labour - as for the power cuts and the 3 day week - this came into force on 31 December 1973 under Ted Heath's Government

So it was, thank you for putting me straight on that.
Maybe I was thinking of the winter of discontent but that was quite some years later.
From the 70s I remember the blackouts, the short working week, the rubbish piling up in the streets and the dead not been able to be buried. I guess it’s all there in the social history and to be honest it’s not really anything I want to go through again. I love the rock music from that era is my absolute favourite! Thanks again for correcting my error. 🍺

Eventually be cheaper to go off grid with a generator, solar panels and oil/LPG heating. The push for heat pumps when electricity will more than double. Renewabls are an expensive con. The public are getting sold this green climate emergency fear but not told what it'll cost them personally. It will destroy our economy, manufacturing, chemicals, petrochemicals anything that uses energy particularly high energy users will move to China or India. We'll be sitting shivering, eating bugs and unemployed.

Net zero in terms of... 0% economic growth...and that's optimistic...LNG is frightfully expensive...simple solution is lift sanctions with Russia...USA still imports nuclear fuel from Russia...UK will have to do the same with any nuclear option...SO RATHER IMPORT RUSSIAN OIL&GAS now...or end up like Germany where Michelin Tyres is closing down, uncompetitive Refineries are switching to other products...sad 😔

So in other words the government have cost the public 50% more for energy, over something that the uk doesn’t need to do.
Anyone would think the uk is one of the biggest countries or continents on the planet the way the government and these climate change clowns go on and on. Yet we in the uk are so small that it makes no difference to the planet what the uk does in the form of going green. In fact even if the uk was completely green energy it would make no difference what so ever to the planet.
When are the government and politicians going to stop conning the public in the uk. They are only making energy companies richer for no reason what so ever.
Going net zone in the uk is pointless.
When the uk closed its 5 coal power stations not only did it send the cost of energy up by 50%, but over 3000+ coal power stations have opened around the world. Stop being mugged off.
As for wind farms they are pointless in the uk, a total waste of money. The average wind speed in the uk is to high for them to work to give 5he uk the energy it needs.
If the uk want to have green energy then the best and free form is wave energy, as shown in the 1970’s, but wave energy would give the uk everything it needs and would be cheap to set up and run. To the point it would pay for itself within a couple of years meaning the energy would end up being free.
Again stop being mugged off by wind farms that are pointless, that need fossil fuels to run and maintain them. When are the people going to wake up to the con?
