To the Republicans or any American who says this is not our fight, ya need to read the history of the second world war. And I mean the political history. We, America doesn't live in a blissful vacuum where we can ignore the problems of the rest of the world while we suckle on the nectar of prosperity. Grow up.

It wasn't the Republican party that was tired to supporting Ukraine, it was the maga faction and trump that aligned itself to Putin, which is very worrying. Overall the American politicians back Ukraine, even with the desenting maga faction, shown by the ease of which the bill was passed once it was allowed to be voted on. Ukraine's security and sovereignty matters, we should've supported them in 2014 when Putin took Crimea by force. ❤🇺🇦🇬🇧🇺🇸❤

“A team of researchers at the University of Adelaide have found that as many as 80 percent of tweets about the 2022 Russia-Ukraine invasion in its early weeks were part of a covert propaganda campaign originating from automated fake ‘bot’ accounts.
An anti-Russia propaganda campaign originating from a ‘bot army’ of fake automated Twitter accounts flooded the internet at the start of the war. The research shows of the more than 5-million tweets studied, 90.2 percent of all tweets (both bot and non-bot) came from accounts that were pro-Ukraine, with fewer than 7 percent of the accounts being classed as pro-Russian.
The university researchers also found these automated tweets had been purposely used to drive up fear amongst people targeted by them, boosting a high level of statistically measurable ‘angst’ in the online discourse.
The research team analysed a massively unprecedented 5,203,746 tweets, sent with key hashtags, in the first two weeks of the Russian invasion of Ukraine from 24 February this year. The researchers considered predominately English-language accounts, with a calculated 1.8-million unique Twitter accounts in the dataset posting at least one English-language tweet.
The results were published in August in a research paper, titled “#IStandWithPutin versus #IStandWithUkraine: The interaction of bots and humans in discussion of the Russia/Ukraine war“, by the University of Adelaide’s School of Mathematical Science.
The size of the sample under study, of over 5-million tweets, dwarfs other recent studies of covert propaganda in social media surrounding the Ukraine war.
The little-reported Stanford University/Graphika research on Western disinformation, analysed by Declassified Australia in September, examined just under 300,000 tweets from 146 Twitter accounts. The Meta/Facebook research on Russian disinformation reported widely by mainstream media, including the ABC a fortnight later, looked at 1,600 Facebook accounts.
Reports on the new research have appeared in a few independent media sites, and in Russia’s RT, but not much else, so revealing the burial of stories that don’t fit the desired pro-Western narrative.
This ground-breaking study, exposing a massive anti-Russia social media disinformation campaign, has been effectively ignored by the mainstream Western establishment media. It’s become almost routine during the Russia-Ukraine war.
The Adelaide University researchers unearthed a massive organised pro-Ukraine influence operation underway from the early stages of the conflict. Overall the study found automated ‘bot’ accounts to be the source of between 60 to 80 percent of all tweets in the dataset.
The published data shows that in the first week of the Ukraine-Russia war there was a huge mass of pro-Ukrainian hashtag bot activity. Approximately 3.5 million tweets using the hashtag #IStandWithUkraine were sent by bots in that first week.
In fact, it was like someone had flicked a switch, when at the start of the war on 24 February, pro-Ukraine bot activity suddenly burst into life. In that first day of the war the #IStandWithUkraine hashtag was used in as many as 38,000 tweets each hour, rising to 50,000 tweets an hour by day three of the war.” - Peter Cronau, Declassified Australia, November 3, 2022

I've lived in Darwin since 1991, and watched the effective imprisonment without trial of asylum seekers on Manus Island, the attempts of the Australian government to prevent information about their condition getting out, the spiralling into self-harm of despairing children. The Australian government was quite content to hold these people offshore indefinitely, not for what they had done, but as an ongoing warning to others intending to make the journey. Yes, the policy did stop the boats, but at what human cost? Most societies punish an individual for a crime they've committed; they don't punish a person for a crime someone else might commit in the future! The mal-treatment by guards, sexual or otherwise, lack of medical and psychological support - for the asylum seekers on Manus Island, a nightmare potentially without end. Utterly barbaric. I was ashamed to be Australian. A child of empire and a dual national, I fear I'm about to be ashamed to be British too. I have spent time in West Africa, the Congo, but not Rwanda. Nevertheless, any treaty designed to protect deportees is, I believe, not worth the paper it's written on.

Uncontrolled mass migration is politically destabilizing. Less so than hyperinflation or food shortages because the induced stress is more rooted in tribalism than in objective threats to survival, but the shared sense of being overwhelmed by events outside of our control makes any such situation untenable. Setting up emergency Humanity and Decency Education Centres across the land is unlikely to prove effective, so those in charge have to keep trying things until something actually works. The problem can't be spun away.

I'm in NY. As big as the US is, we certainly feel the issues with illegal migrants. The US south is very irritated to say the least. We are working on solutions, but it's not great. At least we sent a pretty big deal to Ukraine. It does signal continued support. It is difficult during national election years. Russia ramped up their war efforts, they have kids in arms factories. Ukraine is going to need some real support. Still, you can't downplay how much newer ATACMS and Patriots are going to hurt. That's just the tip of the spear anyway, but the Russians have no choice but to get cozy and deal with it. I like to believe the west was just waiting for Russia to hit max, so a real victory scenario could get worked out.

It’s become almost routine during the Russia-Ukraine war.” - Declassified Australia, November 3, 2022

Why shouldn’t the west give more advanced weapons to Ukraine, Russia has for over a year been receiving weapons and ammunition from North Korea, drones and misiles from Iran, they have been escalating the war so why does German for instance keep using that cop out term.

so, who is it that’s ‘trying hard’ again ? do tell .....
It’s become almost routine during the Russia-Ukraine war.” - Declassified Australia, November 3, 2022

This whole 'deterrent' argument utterly infuriates me - it's beyond idiotic! Just how many refugees, fleeing from war torn countries and oppressive autocracies with only what they can carry in their hands, do we think are keeping up to date with bloody British politics!?! Do we REALLY think that people trying to escape over the Afghan or Syrian borders, possibly dodging bullets and bombs and desperately trying to shield their kids from it all, are stopping for a quick check of the latest law passed by the UK and then going 'oooo gosh, they might put me on a plane to Rwanda - I'd better turn around'. What utter nonsense!
Let's do a quick test, eh; we live in a free society with a free press, so no political oppression or repression ... how many of you reading this know, without Googling it, what was the last law passed in Iran? Or an easier one; China? (Everyone's always talking about China these days right) ... ? Now try and imagine this situation, only no internet, oppressive government and possible warzone, you've been sleeping rough (maybe a tent if you're lucky), travelling for thousands of miles, you're most likely in the hands of people smugglers, and they've most likely taken away a lot of your possessions (how else you paying them), you're in the back of lorry ... you up to spec on UK Parliamentary affairs, yeah? Defo know about that all important Rwanda bill that passed a couple of nights ago - I mean it's super important to you, right? Get real.
See this for what it is; Sunak has become a lil finger-puppet for the far right, doesn't have even a single molecule of a spine to stand up to the Gammons and is more scared of Reform taking votes away from him and his ghouls on the Tory benches than he is willing to do a proper job of leading this country. He's pouring MILLIONS of pounds into a scheme that is PURELY to try and give him a better chance at the ballot box with a tiny minority of nasty, small minded, bigoted voters. It's sickening and completely depressing.

William Hague seems to blow the trumpet of leaning on America's finances and military, not enough talk about this being UK and Europe's problem. Why are the talking points of "are people leaning away from supporting Ukraine?". The conversation, the soundbites, the rhetoric should only be Ukraine MUST WIN, Russia MUST LOSE. Not, oh well we'll seen what happens in 5-10 years. That's not the attitude of backers that want to WIN just stop from losing. This tactic won't work because Russia has too many people they are willing to sacrifice. Why can't people get that through their thick skulls?
