I was thinking the same as I watched it come together. I guess this is what you do when nothing at the store meets your high standards. That bandsaw could end up in a museum after hundreds of years of continuous use, and future peoples would have an inflated sense of our craftsmanship in this era.

1:13 Hands of steal... My shop teacher always used to say "careful it's heavy..." and after we burnt our hands and dropped it he would say "told you it was heavy" Dude smokes of a layer of skin and doesn't skip a beat! One of the best scratch builds I have ever seen anywhere!

This is a marvel of Mechanical Engineering. Your skills, plan, execution, and design all are of highly engineering knowledge. What a beautiful project and well done. I don't know how to put a better comment than that. I am wordless. Thank you for sharing and I did like your video. I am a doctor but like to watch mechanical project like this. It reminds me of my childhood when I used to watch lathe machining and mechanical work in our town at that time I was 9 years old and now I am 39 yrs. I love to see rusty steel cut into pieces and then turns into shining metal. The cutting is so cool like cutting a birthday cake. I love it.

Great work! Nice to see you used a proper ball bearing race mounted on it's edge for the back of the band saw blade to run up against. Many cheap band saws just have the band saw blade continuously scuffing on the side of a ball bearing outer race to give back support.

Your videos are sensational, I'm an industrial designer and system developer, I work more as a developer than a designer, but in my spare time I'm manufacturing my CNC Router, to open a company and act more as a designer. I have no experience with soldering, I see this machine you are using it seems to be super simple, there is this model of machine here in Brazil.... I will definitely want to make my tube cutter as well.

Lovely bit of kit,and a saw like that is just so useful, just a not when drilling, if you lift off as the swarf gets to about an inch, just enough to take the cutting face away from the work you don't end up with long and potentially dangerous cuttings, you can't do this with stainless steel, but aluminium and mild steel are fine.

Don’t forget that skills are only half of it. His creativity and mechanical understanding is the other half.
