I have been following your chanel for a few weeks and I am gratefull for the information I have been gathering, allready bought your 2 first books, they are really easy to understand, even for a newbie like me! I'm going to build an ebike of 1500w rear hub to go to work, have some step hills on the way back, will make a 52V 20A battery (triangular) as in one of your videos. Keep up the great videos
I'm still working up my courage to embark on building my first ebike. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge.
Seeing your creation process for the different cell configurations is inspiring. Any chance you could do a video for how to use fuses with the vruzend kits?
Just found the channel but am loving going through all the informative videos!
Love your videos, Micah! They have really inspired me to try making my own batteries. Keep up the good work.
I actually own two of your books, really learn a lot from you. Keep it up😀
More videos to come, very informative and simple long live to your channel mate!
Great i m waiting for v2 kit for my skateboard
hey mate, just want to say thanks for your videos... also i wanted to ask if you can do a DIY with some cells and your kit for a powerwall? for something i could see and then i can just scale it up.
Great video... QUESTION...can you please do a video on balancing packs... I have a 10s4p pack that a couple of cells drifted when a lead broke and I can’t balance the pack back properly...🤷🏾♂️ thanx...
This is super interesting. I really want to get into making my own battery packs now! I really want to learn more. I've watched about 10 videos of yours straight
Micah, if I wanted to build a 36v 6.9a battery but in the size of a water bottle for a bike, how would I configure the batteries considering it is a circular shape.
I wanted to cut the top off a water bottle and have the cable exit at the bottom.
Is it possible to complete with the vruzend kit. The battery would sit in my second water bottle holder and not be obvious to the casual observer.
Keep up the good work, really informative videos and website.
Can't wait to get my DIY battery kit!
Could you do a video on making a 10s3p flat pack using the spot welder method rather than the veruzend kits?
Question, could I put the two battery lines on top of eachother at the end? Would i have to do any more connections?
looking forward getting my kit to try this out!
I like the lay flat idea. If I wanted a 10s6p version, how would that work? I have a fairly large longboard and am trying to figure out ground clearance issues.
Absolutely wonderful video
Do you use bms that also balance the pack or the ones that only protect charge and discharge?
hi, can you made a vidéo on alternative solution for the battery and bms of the xiaomi m365 scooter?
Does anyone know if the 21700 batteries have cases for them yet like dolphin or shark case for the 18650?
Great job micah! Im in the process of building my electric skateboard, this guide will be handy!see you at endless sphere FB
I have a Hudson Star reel lawn mower. I want to make it electric, I have the 24 volt motor mounted I need to know how to make a battery for it. Can you give me a hint or two.
Thank you Melvin Jones
This is just what I needed to power my setup, thank you
What type of controller would you use with this battery set up? build one or where to buy one for this setup?
In our lead acid battery banks for offgrid, we crosstie between series strings for balancing. It appears you do the same with the lithium batteries?
Steve Spence Yes.
If you’re using old laptop batteries how should you connect different ah batteries in parallel to make one whole battery pack? I know you’re supposed to connect similar ah cells together but what about the different parallel group if one group has a little more ah than the rest will it cause damage to the battery pack?
Really like those connectors
Any idea how to use one of your kits to build a scooter or ebike battery use Boston power swing 5300mah cells.
what are the specs of motor and controller for your skateboard? and what is the max continuous discharge of your battery pack?
Can you do it with lithium polymer batteries? Because some single cell lipos only output 2C, not high discharge.
Micah , can you provide me with metric sizes for a 10s 4p Vruzend 1.5 kit please?Could not find it online ☺️. Want to find out if that is gonna fit into the box I fancy...
I see there was an article with your new battery kit on hackaday.
Definitely going to be making a battery soon!
very good DIY video as allways
Great video. Some good tips for ebike and eskaters too. I'll be putting the information to good use for my current projects! thanks!
Can I change out the capacitors in a 48v controller to handle a 60v battery? The next capacitor available after the 63v is 100v!
Hi Micah, thanks for making this video! I pre-ordered Vruzend's V2 kit (x2) and I'm hoping to make a 10s4p battery in the same flat double-row configuration (but I have no experience building a battery beyond soldering balance wires to a pre-spotwelded pack). Here, you've stacked two bus bars for each series connection; should that scale up the more cells there are in parallel? Should I use four stacked bus bars to bolster the connection?
Yes generally you'd want one bus bar per cell in a parallel group. It's not a 100% rule, but its a good rule of thumb.
Great video, I really like those battery holders. How can I purchase them so easy to use. BTW I have your solar panel and lithium book and they are GREAT easy to understand and great illustrations
Awesome! I was waiting for this! Thank you buying soon
Is there a "balance" charger for li ion 10S packs, so I won't have to connect a BMS to a DIY battery pack?
Thanks for the info. Keep up the good work!
I'm liking these blocks and shouldn't we have a heatsing on the BMS for high drain?
Hello i'm one of your fan can i ask question if i make electric or patinete battery pack it must be identical? Same voltage, same brand, and same amphere? Thanks a lot.
Good stuff, someday this tech will reach Brasil, that will be a happy day.
Montei um skate elétrico no meu canal... gastei R$1500,00. Depois confere lá.
Another Great video Micah! Thanks for sharing :)
Hey Micah
Did I miss the link for the nickel coated copper ring terminal?
Soon I will build this battery ;)
In the video you use the V2 kit, but is there any difference if you used a V1.5 kit?
Hi, Thanks for the video! I'm building a 10S3P pack like this with the Vruzend 2.0 kit. I found in the comments below that it is good practice to beef up the serial connection with, in my case, 3 busbars. I don't understand something. Do the parralel connections also need additional busbars, or is one between them enough? I'm Using Samsung 30Q cells 15A max discharge.
1 bus bar is enough for the v2, v2 is 20a per bus bar because its copper coated nickel, but you would need 3 busbars on the v1.5 because those bus bars (v.1.5 versions) only handle up 3.5a per bus bar and 7a max so 7x3=21
Hey Mikey I was wondering I have a Boosted board with the extended range battery and I took the stander range battery and opened it up why do you think Boosted Board V2 users
A123 ANR 26659M-1B cells ?
They are 12s 1P are they better than 18650 cells
How can I make a battery pack that fits inside a top tube of a regular bike? Ill need a 36V 5-6Ah battery. Thank you!!
This is a great 10s2p tutorial, think I might try it..
do you put the bms wires underneath the nut or the plate?
I am just wondering how to create an friction drive bike using an skateboard 83mm ×52mm hub motor by placing it under the V - joint of bicycle i am not sure spinning direction of hub motor as it needs to be running in clock wise . How to switch between cw and anti cw
Hey Micah just a quick question on the layout program you use or any you know of, i cant find any online.
I am going to make 6S4P battery pack which will have continously current about 60A. Do you recommend LIITOKALA LG HG2 cells? I am worried about current and campacity of cells. Are you recommend LIITOKALA cells?
sorry...late to the game watching this video, but I love it! Ive been looking for a way to learn how to do this without a spot welder, so thanks! I actually just bought your first book for kindle and will be reading it soon, but my question, and I apologize if its been asked elsewhere here, is once it's all built and you've got a charging port wired in as well, is that it? Then just plug in the appropriate charger? I am probably unfairly comparing this process to how I charge my 4s Lipos using a balanced charger...any help would be great, and i know i'll probably also find the answer in your book.
Could you make a DIY of how to make a eletric bike or some kinda of small kart using my1016 or something like that?
awesome video!
Mocha, great videos, i am waiting for 2 V2 kits. (Hopefully end of August) this is the exact battery I want to buikd for an electric MTB my question is u followed your link to BMS's and maybe I missed it in the video but whuch one do you use? The 14s one thats 48-58,8 volts doesn't look the same as the one in your video. Thanks in advance!
Oops speak check doesn't like your name Micah! Sorry about that
When will battery kit v2.0 become available? Do you ship to Europe? For old battery kit I see that you only ship to US, Ca.
Would amperage be a problem for this battery pack?
Great video very helpful 👍👍
I don't know how to skateboard, but it is helpful to see how to create a flat orientation for the batteries. Should be useful for many other projects.
Hey I made a pack as you did and only difference was I wired the 11 to the 1-10pos and first negative before power, the battery wasn’t connected but as I hit cell 10 the bms fried, is it because I didn’t wire the main power Pos and Neg yet? Pack reads 36v and the bms has the same ratings as yours?
what would I get out of wiring 4 of these in series?
whats the messure in cm, for the batteries with the "heads" on both sides?
Very cool man. Thanks
What should I use for the best range?
Flat out great videos.
i noticed 10s2p are usually in most typical semi-pro e-skateboards these days, what about 10s4p or even 10s5p ?.. 2100mAh 18650 - VTC4 30Amps would be any good ?
Great video :) very useful!
Which battery is better, The LG hg2 3000mah or the LG he4 2500mah? I would save about $100 going with the hg2. Trying to make a 60v triangle. For Ebike.
Finally, thank you so much.
Great video! Thank you
Nice Video!
I have a few of those boxes o' parts myself. They come in handy. 😀
How would I charge it if the bms doesn't have charging port?
Late reply but still an answer to your question. You need to use like 12 awg wire and solder onto the relevant spots on the bms, then solder a charging port on the other end.
Why we use BMS . y don't single cell charging and any boost circuits per battery
0.57 makes my dog go crazy lol
does anyone know program hes using on the computer to diagram his battery map?
Hi i want to know if i could build a 48v battery and have it at say 24 ah's would it be possible thanks Mike 😎
Great product!
What are the dimensions of the completed Assembly?
Nice video as usual
Hello Micah
I have problems with the rebuilding of the battery of my Yuneec Ego2 skateboard. The problem is regenerative braking. Always after 3 to 5 seconds of braking the BMS dies. The original BMS from Yuneec is not satisfactory. Do you have a recommendation for a 7S BMS with regenerative function? Or is there a way to limit the regeneration current?
Looks good. Thanks
Just read the DYI Battery book. Is there any limit to the number of cells in parallel? Looking at making a 4S24P pack. Or I could make 4 x 4S6P packs and parallel them 1S4P right?. Disadvantage would be 5 BMS and more complex pack. Advantage would be easier to replace bad cells? What is the most cells you would put in parallel?
Theoretically there is no limit to the number of cells you can put in parallel, at least until the pack becomes unwieldy...
Are there anymore kits available?? Just checked the link in the description and they say it’s out of stock ☹️
I’m trying to create a battery pack with 16cells 4sets to give 16v I’m not sure what bms to use
Are lithium ceramic batteries available commercially, where to buy ?
DIY build and replace/fix your Evolve Skateboard battery please!
Thanks for the video😊😊
Oh man, i won! this is so awesome, i would like the book on how to build 18650 Lithium Batteries. how can i msg you my info, thank you Mike for sharing your knowledge.
I know it might be a stupid question but how do you know the batteries in parallel keep the same voltage? I know I can control each series but do you occasionally need to make sure those batteries connected in parallel each still have the same voltage as at the beginning?
Any cells connected in parallel will be forced to have the same voltage because they reach equilibrium with each other. If one is higher voltage, it will simply charge the lower voltage cell in parallel with it until they are the same.
cool thank you for the answer
Very helpful
Nice job! Wish I had a board! )
This helped so much
What called that hold the battery
Is it more cheaper like that to build your own battery pack
Thanks!
