Thanks! I read that book a couple years ago, but for some reason didn't take action on the caffeine part. It did make me realize that sleep is very important.
I've replaced my morning coffee with a cold shower, that'll give you a jolt! And it leaves the benefits of waking up slowly intact. I wouldn't have dreamed of meditating after my coffee, so I had my coffee after, but after a cold shower you're both awake and calm enough to start working or go for your walk as you prefer, in my experience.
I used to take cold showers for 5 years every morning. But then at a certain point I couldn't warm up again after them, and I would be cold the entire morning. Now I just keep them for summer.
I can relate to this entire video! I had to stop drinking coffee because I had a bad ulcerative colitis flare. So much bleeding and weight loss. Was constantly going to the bathroom. So I stopped drinking coffee for a little over a month, and although I was sick, I started noticing that I stopped caring about small things. Then I remember I finally had a tiny sip of espresso and wow, I felt so alive! But just that one cup and maybe once on the weekend with family. That's the point where my colon started to heal. So I remember early this month, I drank one shot of espresso and holy moly I didn't realize how strong coffee really was! I was only drinking on the weekend at this point. But now currently, I'm not drinking at all and I feel very balanced, like you said, 80% through the whole day. I don't get bad anxiety like I used to, and I can brush off small problems quite easily. I feel pretty good like this. Exercise is what makes me feel good now, I feel happy after exercising. Before, the coffee would mask the benefits of exercising. Now I feel it! I never thought I could live without coffee, and here I am. But it helps with my colon so much. On the weekends that I did have coffee, it would speed up my colon and I think I need to keep healing before I can do coffee again occasionally. I think coffee is quite alright once in a while, but when it's a habit, that's where the problem is. But people don't see coffee that way, but the truth is that it's a drug plain and simple.
I'm so happy to hear that your colon is starting to heal. In university, I had a roommate with colitis ulcerosa, and it was horrible to see him suffer. Wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy.

You’re the first youtuber who is explaining correctly what symptoms I have when I’m drinking coffee. Im although addicted to it lol and lot of people are. Coffee is a drug and a herbal plant as well.We shouldn’t drink it every day. It’s changing our consciousness the way we are addicted to it. I although would like to put it down because I have a negative feeling every day about it that my mood depending on something. And yes not talking about the sleep. Last month I did a three day water fast and it was so good just letting myself from the demon of the food society🥲
Thanks! While drinking coffee I also thought that I couldn't live without it, and that life would never be the same without coffee. Now that I've stopped drinking it, life is better and I don't even want to drink coffee anymore. My girlfriend had the same experience. Now your experience might differ, but I recommend you quit it for 30 days, and see if you like life better with or without it.
It's great that you mentioned the water fast. I use WARM WATER the whole day. It gives you a stuffed feeling. Even if you stop eating in the evening from the day before and don't eat till 5pm, you will stop the addiction to a lot of things, for example to candy, coffee etc. I often use this 1 day strategy to get rid of addictions for a long time. Besides coffee increases tension inside and makes nervous, that gives a feeling of anxiety. Even Yogis mention this and the negative effects on our consciousness (and I got this warm water trick from them :).
I quit coffee for 3,5 months, the withrawal symptoms were awful the first 3 weeks. I couldn't sleep, headache, no energy and felt sick it was horrible. After 3 weeks I felt fine and quickly realised I didn't need coffee to feel energic. The biggest difference was that I felt moderate energy throughout the days under these 3,5 months instead of the lows and highs I had when drinking coffee. I also didn't need to go to the toilet as often. My sleep didn't change at all, I slept just as well with coffee as without. After 3,5 months without any coffe or caffeine my depression and anxiety was getting really bad so I just decided to take a cup of coffe...It IMMEDIATLY made me feel really good and the anxiety went away, I went back to drinking 2-3 cups of coffee again and now I feel so much better. Pros of no coffe for me: More balance energy throughout the days, less toilet visits. Cons of no coffe for me: More anxiety and depression, no highs of energy or focus when needed, Can't enjoy my favorite drink. I don't regret quitting coffee to get the feel of how it is without it but I sure as hell will keep drinking it for the rest of my life because life is just better with it.
In 3 weeks without now and ye I feel depression increasing and no real energy alike that I'm used to. I'm wondering if quitting is the best thing to do for everyone or not. Sounds like the pros of quitting don't outweigh the cons for people with existing mental conditions. I have ADHD, so it's a stimulant that I've grown used to.
Thanks for sharing your experience. Shows that coffee has different effects on different people. Really cool that you at least abstained for a good period of time to make an honest assessment if coffee adds or takes something from your life.

I am 20 months caffeine free from beverages, soda, tea and coffee. I have had some milk chocolate along the way, esp during christmas time when we got them as gifts but I don’t think that affected me as much. I want to hit 2 years and see how I feel after. I would only use caffeine as a tool, like if I were to do a long drive, I would get a coke only if I needed to stay awake. I do agree with you regarding drinking caffeine if you are going to do something you don’t feel like doing, like something tedious. How long you planning on going caffeine free?
Today is day 21 for me. I have definitely noticed I feel less anxious and jittery no doubt. I was drinking about a pot a day...for YEARS. Went through a phase of a few days being EXHAUSTED and Lethargic but the worst of that seems over. Headaches werent really an issue for me. This was a great video!! Yes been about a month since I quit coffee and although I am drinking green tea and way less anxiety I have definitely noticed that I am making better decisions. I am shocked how much coffee clouded my decision making ability. Wow. I don't have a problem with green tea as the caffeine is significantly less but I think the acids of coffee and other stuff in it that was harming me. I had gotten up to 2-4 cups a day!! I definitely plan to continue this path I am already feeling better even though I have days of low productivity but I know it will keep getting better as my adrenals heal. One other thing I noticed.. when I decided to quit I have seemed to come join this no-coffee community of folks who have all recently quit in the last year or so it's kinda cool.. I was meditating and that is how I noticed my body started rejecting it, was totally weird. So here I am. My skin is looking better and yes deeper sleep. Congrats on your new house!!
Inspiring story! Great to hear how just switching to green tea already made you feel a lot better. Many people want to quit coffee and if they can drink green tea as an intermediate stage, that would be cool.
I’m very sensitive to caffeine yet I can’t friggin quit! 🙄😫 1 small cup of coffee would mess me up! Anxiety through the roof.. heart racing, acidic stomach pangs and it’ll just make me feel so miserable and irritable.. I really need to quit once and for all!
The first 1-2 weeks were tough, but then it got easier. So maybe for you it's just a matter of forcing yourself to get through the beginning. See if you've got a low stress period at work to do this.
The only time I’ve quit coffee is when I went to Mexico and there were no coffee shops around but surprisingly, I didn’t have any side effects and I felt really great all day because before that, I had already cut my dosage. I used to drink 2 huge iced lattes then just one latte, then just a hot cup at home. Saved me lots of money too.
Thanks for sharing. I also found a big difference after giving up caffeine that my sleep way deeper with clear dreaming. Greetings from James J in Limerick city Ireland
About six weeks in. I'm finding I get up way earlier and without an alarm. Sleeping around 6 hours instead of 8 ish. I still feel the need for a lunch time power nap but that's probably a healthy thing.
Any tips for quitting? I am planning on going cold turkey tomorrow from about 1 - 1.5 cups per day. I have consumed coffee since 2011 and have quit probably 20 times as my body just doesn't tolerate caffeine well from any source (coffee, tea, cocoa, etc). Yet every time I've quit I've started again. The longest I think I've made it is 2 months or so...
Make sure you've got an easy week ahead of you in terms of work and social things. Eat plenty of fruit for energy, hydration, and minerals. Sleep as much as you can. Take a walk in the morning to get sunshine to give your body a natural wake up stimulus.
8 days ago started tapering, mixing Teeccino in with decaf to dilute my coffee and today I had a couple sips of straight coffee, wow I couldn't believe how awful it made me feel

I quit drinking alcohol. it was the best thing I have ver done recently I drunk a few tie nd I fel horrible.wine is wore and beer , too.and I never ever wanna drink gain I felt also extremely guilty.i also need to reduce my coffee . I don't wanna quit because it is nice . but I think need to drink only one cup a dy. I have problem with sleep and I feel very anxious .I can not find out hy . probably it is the coffee unfortunately.
I'm currently not drinking alcohol for a month (already 3 weeks in), and I'm enjoying the clarity. If you really love coffee, I'd try taking a 30 break, and see how it really affects you.
Hey there, what about any benefits you have experienced for your teeth? Whiter, stronger? Or hair? People said, that caffeine can cause some hair loss, too....
I think my teeth are a bit whiter. But I always used to rinse them with water after each coffee. So I don't see a big difference. My teeth do feel stronger than before, but I'm not sure if that's coffee related. I didn't experience anything related to my hair. But if I recall correctly there's a relation between stress and hair loss, so less stress can have a beneficial effect for those prone to it.
Try doing this with a job where you have to stay awake a lot, and you didnt have much time to sleep before it. Let me guess, you dont live a lifestyle like that, so you can achieve this. I rarely drink energy drinks now, and coffee never. But sometimes there are nights when i couldn't sleep well, and i simply know i need caffein or something to survive the next day, or gg, i will asleep around 11:00 o clock.
If you strategically can use coffee to stay awake for your job instead of just drinking it out of habit like most people, that's great. In the end you want coffee to add more to your life than it takes. And in my case it was taking more than it gave back.
Yeah coffee itself has a lot of things that are bad for your body, not just the caffeine. Even decaf will mess up your skin and your immune system. Same thing with teas.
Can't you drink decaf when you crave the social aspect of coffee? I've just substituted decaf for my regular coffee habit, and except for the first day, I'm headache free!
Yes, that's option. I just found decaf just as harsh (if not harsher) on my stomach. So I'm not drinking it. If a social occasion asks for a hot drink, I usually pick a herbal tea or hot chocolate (hot chocolate has theobromine, which has a similar effect as caffeine, but I don't seem to experience any negative effects).
I think the downside doesn't even seem like a downside - I think it's not normal to just wake up and start working lol. And if you are going out just have decaf. There you go! LOL :)
Some people do better with coffee. Some without. Only way to find out is to take a period of time and stop drinking it, and see if you feel better or worse. I tried decaf, but it was harsher on my gut than normal coffee.
Sleep improvement is the BEST result of quitting coffee... I'd recommend reading "Why We Sleep" book. Congrats on quitting the no 1 drug!

Hi James! The deeper sleep is so nice. I didn't even know what I was missing while still drinking coffee.
Yes !! … I couldn’t understand the weekend rest and work day period .. I defiantly noticed that !!!
i feel like i have more time compare to drinking cofee regulary . even during night shfit i still can work without issue ...
Came for quitting coffee.....now my wife and I are learning Russian 🇷🇺
About six weeks in. I'm finding I get up way earlier and without an alarm. Sleeping around 6 hours instead of 8 ish. I still feel the need for a lunch time power nap but that's probably a healthy thing.
I'm 3 hours sober of coffee
I love coffee.
Thank you! I am struggling with sugar and caffeine being eliminated. I hope that I'm able to get rid of or moderate.
Is coffee good or bad for you? I see all these conflicting videos saying it's good or bad
Try it for yourself. Quit for 30 days and see if you feel better with or without it.
You still off Caffeine?
Thanks
wowwww wonderful video Enjoyed watching it.,.,.
Thank you!
So true!
What's your thoughts on decaf? There are some quality brands out there, and it's like 2-4 mg. caffeine, and not 95-120 mg. like regular.
I'm not a big fan of it, because it seems to be even worse for my digestion than regular coffee.
Yeah coffee itself has a lot of things that are bad for your body, not just the caffeine. Even decaf will mess up your skin and your immune system. Same thing with teas.
This is so hard to do, I attempted and failed so many times 😭
It's difficult but worth it. Did you succeed this time?
Don't drink caffine after breakfast and have a great sleep
My sleep was fine while I was still drinking coffee. I mainly quit for the other benefits.
Hey, this is my second day. I have a headache 😫
What helped for me was:
- lots of orange juice for hydration
- sunshine
- walks outside
- take a nap if possible
@@foodlogged8632 thanks
Is it good to drink only one cup of coffee per day?
Can't you drink decaf when you crave the social aspect of coffee? I've just substituted decaf for my regular coffee habit, and except for the first day, I'm headache free!
Yes, that's option. I just found decaf just as harsh (if not harsher) on my stomach. So I'm not drinking it. If a social occasion asks for a hot drink, I usually pick a herbal tea or hot chocolate (hot chocolate has theobromine, which has a similar effect as caffeine, but I don't seem to experience any negative effects).
what a great video, very insightful!:)
Glad to hear that!
Can that really be true
❤
subscribed thanks!!
Thanks! Hope the video was useful.
👍👍👍👍👍
:)
Are you still drinking coffee?
i quite with booze only water and kombucha
@@arca1722 That's intense! I'm still drinking milk and fruit juices daily, and the occasional herbal tea.
drinking herbal teas, some decaf and water mostly
@@martijn2246 Have you noticed any negative effect of decaf on your stomach?
@@foodlogged8632 sounds like a load of sugar.... it makes you sluggish and causes metabolic syndrome... worse than 1cup of black coffee in the morning
day 29 gogogo
How did it go?
wow que homem lindo 🥰
Eu não falo portugues :)
I am 21 years coffee free now
I'm almost at one year. Did you drink it a lot before?
