    that looked tough! it's so painful to see all the rubbish people leave behind, especially those who purport to love the countryside....

    • @StephenJReid
      @StephenJReid  Год назад +4

      I don’t think anyone who leaves mess like that can claim to love the countryside. Shame it’s happening more and more. There were more messy camps that I didn’t include in the video

    Forget Scott & Shackleton Stephen & Colin are my heros. Im venturing there next month to continue my search for a route out of Annalong woods.

      The Annalong wood crossing is interesting. 😂 the route we followed almost exactly matches the Mourne Wall route on the Harvey Maps Mournes map. But the OSNI map goes down to the road

    You were taking fast packing literally with that tent lol. I’ve never actually seen that chain across the river before. Love the wind

    • @StephenJReid
      @StephenJReid  Год назад +2

      Haha, tent stuffing. Yeah that route with the chain isn’t the easiest. 4 wall crossings, no real defined route, cows, possible trespassing

    I have that same Lord of the Rings scene/epic tune in my mind every time I summit Binnian or Bernagh. Must be something to do with the rocks leading up an awesome vista.

    Stunning scenery & great filming & editing, well done! Love the screams too, I would have been screaming most of the way, that wind looked awful! Though the wind did prove useful for disposing of the banana skin…🍌😺

      Thanks Karen! I like to think those abandoned banana skins landed in a bin at the coast 😂

    Well done lads. Still bit confused the route to take from bottom of binnian accross annaghlong valley to join wall again.

    • @StephenJReid
      @StephenJReid  Год назад +2

      Yeah it’s a tricky one. Have to cross a gate, a field, two walls, climb down to river, cross river, cross a road into a forest, climb a wall into a field, walk up field, climb back into forest, up a lane, over a style and climb back up to the wall.
      I think that’s why most just go down to the road and rejoin on the Seefins

    I assume the sheep are always on the outside of the wall, otherwise the wall would not serve its intended purpose, right?

    Good work man.applogies for previous drunkin bollacks, trying to keep her between the hedges tonight .Really need to tick this one off the list. How heavy your tent when wet, would u use it over multiple days. Going down the rabbit hole of tents/tarps that dont absorb water. Dear stuff, santa is coming 😁😁

    • @StephenJReid
      @StephenJReid  Год назад

      Haven’t weighed it when wet. But I’m guessing it’s probably up to 500grams heavier. Yeah I’d happily use it over multiple days if it was a lightweight trip. It’s probably the best hiking pole tent for £125. But the Lanshan 1 my friend has, is maybe better and not too much more money.

    Honestly, just do it in one day, 10 hours does it. Forget about camping and carrying so much stuff.

    • @StephenJReid
      @StephenJReid  Год назад +1

      We wanted to camp though, I’ve done tougher distances in much less time, but this was about seeing what it was like doing with the weight and camping.
      2/3 years ago I tried fastpacking it for the first time and gave up on the second day and took the short route back.
      Thinking I might give it a solo go on a mild day over autumn/winter and see how fast I can get around at a semi relaxed pace.
      Also a chance to test kit for other things currently being planned….
