    Hi Michael! Loved the video. I don t understand something, how do you change and selecti the parameter that the expression pedal modify? Thanks!

    • @Jib_
      @Jib_ Год назад +20

      you have to hold down your dd8 while plugging in the expression pedal. the light will turn orange and you can now set your maximum parameters. if you dont want a parameter to be affected (for example volume/level) you simply turn it all the way down. when you now chose your maximum/toe down position you press the dd8 footswitch and set your parameters.

    Great idea! I've always thought about using the expression pedal to control parameters like flanger resonance or chorus rate (I think it can be done in a Boss GT-100). I've got to try this too

    • @MichaelBanfieldGuitar
      @MichaelBanfieldGuitar  3 года назад +3

      Go for it! I find with modulation like chorus, phasers and flangers that my favourite parameter to control with the expression pedal is often the rate, similar to a treadle controlled uni-vibe. But if it's programmable to any combination of parameters the possibilities are almost endless. Have fun!

    Great with my Collider…I usually use wet/dry. But feedback is cool, but for delays minimum needs to be set above or high below….otherwise it gets too wild!

    • @coreyclark6505
      @coreyclark6505 Год назад +1

      I've actually been on the fence about getting an expression pedal to use with the Collider. I understand it can control up to 3 parameters. Can you basically choose any 3 or is it limited in any particular way?

    • @mattg082
      @mattg082 Год назад +1

      @@coreyclark6505 yep you can…easy way to try is to hook it up to a computer.. select presets and in those presets there is a drop down for 3 control settings. You can have them automate all at once or just feedback, wet dry or whatever. You can do it on your own patches…but the presets are an easy way to get started as it’s all layed out. Once you do it, just hold the save button on the pedal. It doesn’t unlock it for all of them. So you can save each preset with whichever 3 expressions you want. It’s good for the modulation stuff, or doing a wet dry blend to create ambient feedback…def worth the small amount to spend on an expression. I also use one with my RE20!

    How do you change the delay time on dd7 with ev 30? Mine only changes the volume but not the delay time.

    • @MichaelBanfieldGuitar
      @MichaelBanfieldGuitar  3 года назад +8

      Here goes: Make sure the pedal isn't in loop/hold mode. Press and hold down the pedal switch on the DD7 while connecting the expression pedal. The check indicator should light orange and you can release the switch. Turn the E.Level, F.Back, and D.Time knobs to set the maximum values of the ranges you want to control. If you don’t want to control a particular parameter with the expression pedal, set its value to the “min” position. Press the switch on the DD7 to save those settings and the pedal will be setup for you to use. Hope that helps.

    Hi! Thanks so much for the awesome video. I have a query:
    Im setting up my expression so that toes down it increases the volume and feedback of the delay. However, when i transition from toe up to to down on the expression, it produces the weird wobbly sound you get when you change the tempo in the delay. How can i get rid of it?

    • @HenritheHorse
      @HenritheHorse Год назад

      That's just how delays work, no way to get rid of it. Only by not playing when you do it.

  • @just.off.the.a4208
    @just.off.the.a4208 2 года назад +1

    I noticed around the 3.30 minute mark, when you played soft, it sounded as if there was only 1 repeat, but when strumming harder the more delay/repeat kicks in. But I didn't notice your foot changing the level on the expression pedal. How did you achieve this "touch sensitivity"?

    • @MichaelBanfieldGuitar
      @MichaelBanfieldGuitar  2 года назад +2

      I think it's just because when I'm playing softly and more legato those later repeats become inaudible because they're so quiet. You can only really hear the later repeats if I really hit a loud staccato chord and then the later repeats suddenly become more obvious. It's a playing thing rather than an effects setting thing. I hope that helps anyway.

      I think I've already replied to a similar message but here it is for the EV30 to just control delay time: Make sure the pedal isn't in loop/hold mode. Press and hold down the pedal switch on the DD7 while connecting the expression pedal. The check indicator should light orange and you can release the switch. Turn the E.Level, F.Back all the way down and D.Time up to the maximum delay time that you'll want. Press the switch on the DD7 to save those settings and the pedal will be setup to control the delay time. Hope that helps.

    • @MichaelBanfieldGuitar
      @MichaelBanfieldGuitar  3 года назад

      Just so I'm clear what we're talking about, when you say decrease delay time do you mean faster delay time with less time between repeats or slower delay time with more time between repeats?

      @@MichaelBanfieldGuitar faster delay time with less time between repeats

    • @MichaelBanfieldGuitar
      @MichaelBanfieldGuitar  3 года назад +1

      Thanks. Unfortunately, you can't configure the expression pedal to move one knob up while controlling another to simultaneously go down so it isn't possible on the DD-8. Some delay pedals have the time control work in the opposite direction (Boss DM-2 does this) so it's not always the case. Hope that helps

      @@MichaelBanfieldGuitar and that could be done with the toneprint app in the flashback 2?

    • @MichaelBanfieldGuitar
      @MichaelBanfieldGuitar  3 года назад

      @@emilianoibarra3537 Yes it can definitely be done on the Flashback 2. The mash switch on the Flashback 2 is actually set up to behave like that by default on a lot of the settings actually, definitely the tape setting I can't remember about the others though. It will send the delay into swirly self oscillating goodness.
      In fact that reminds me there is a way you can get that same self oscillating effect from the DD-8! If you connect a dual footswitch like the Boss FS-7 to the DD-8 when you press and hold switch A it will send it into self oscillation in basically the same way the mash switch on the Flashback 2 does. I'm planning on making a video about using a dual footswitch with the DD-8 soon so keep a look out for it.
