This is nice! I'm waiting for delivery of my DD-8. My local guitar store guy said that they said that Boss is changing factories, so there will be a delay in delivery. He ordered a bunch of stuff in May, but they're saying that some of the things are coming in September, and among them is my DD-8. I might just get a foot switch too!
@@MichaelBanfieldGuitar help please, i can't get it to work too, i tried 2 different dual footswitch but it's not working, i used nmp-2 and ampero but no luck.
Thnx, now I know I can't use bugera dual footswitch on this thing. It worked on Roland Cube but I had no idea about this polarity issue. Big thank you to Boss for not using the polarity everyone else uses. Maybe it could work on loop mode just not on pressing the pedal but on release (like it does with Roland amp)? It definitely won't work for that twist. I imagine it would be always on until I press the switch. Will see when my DD-8 arrives.
Thanks for the info! I got myself a TRS momentary dual pedal but I was wondering why its only the A/tip which is working but not the B/ring. So when Im on loop, its only the delete pedal that works and not the stop. Same as when Im on delay. Only the tap button works and not the other function. Just to make it clear, Im using a trs cable.
This is the only video that showed me how to get the dotted 8th setting. The way how to get to the rhythmic division in the dd8 was not even in the manuals. Where did you get that information?
Could you help me? whenever i want to tap tempo on "dotted eighth note" and i just want to switch to "eighth note", do i always need to plug the cable into input B and then input A to go back to regular? Or is there some way with footswich to configure it? the idea is if at a live show you change music where the delay changes from "dotted eighth note" to "eighth note" you don't need to be doing the manual configuration. thanks for your videos
Remember you can only get the very longest delay times by using the tap tempo function. Are you using tap tempo? Also, you’ll need to run the DD-8 in mono to get the very long delays, if you’re running it in stereo I think the max delay time is halved because it’s having to process two signals. Are you in mono? What mode are you using?
There's no strum guitar to set tempo capability, only tapping with your foot. The delay carry over can be set on or off using a switch on the top of the pedal which is just next to the power socket.
I'm a bit of a noob so sorry if the answer to this question should be obvious but when tapping a tempo, do you tap every beat in the bar or, for example, the first beat of every bar? Trying to tap eighth notes to 92bpm in 6/8
Afraid not. The DD-7 only takes a single foot switch like the FS-5U or an expression pedal. The only work around I can think of is to carefully set the expression pedal so that it would control the right parameters to create the self oscillation effect from the expression pedal, it would have to be setup just right though.
Unfortunately, no. The next best thing I can think of would be using the boss DD 200 or DD 500 which both have extra switches already on the unit. Then you could connect an external expression pedal to it. Hope that helps.
@@MichaelBanfieldGuitar thanks Michael. I appreciate you taking the time to reply. Still an awesome delay though. Really enjoyed the tutorial! Keep up the great work!
So you can try to mimic Audioplus Sustain Pedal with it. Second way to do it is to have compression-sustainer but I’m not sure does this type of pedals able to sustain a chord for that long and if they do you can record it with looper without a delay. I’m just trying to figure out how to emulate keyboard ADSR on guitar, mostly for pads. Audioplus too expensive.
I think overall I prefer the footswitch but you can get some pretty unique stuff using an expression pedal too. Check out my other video on using the DD-8 with an expression pedal if you haven't already. Thanks for commenting!
@@MichaelBanfieldGuitar I did. That use for having delay mode switch has me intrigued. I was looking at the gfi orca but this pedal is a bot versatile and simple to use so I got this one. The only thing this doesn't having is switching between presets. Your expression pedal vid kinda helped me with that. Thanks. Might get an expression pedal.
Hey Michael, I just got a DD-8 and a footswitch, and I found that in about half of the modes on the pedal, if I use the switch for tap tempo while I'm playing, a click noise comes through the amp. Do you have that issue in any of the modes?
No never, it could be either coming through the power supply which can normally be solved by using power supplies with isolated outputs. Just using batteries for everything is a good quick way to test that as batteries are isolated. Or it could just be a noisy switch, soft touch switches often help reduce noise, which the FS-7 has. Those are my ideas anyway, hope it helps and good luck getting it sorted.
@@MichaelBanfieldGuitar yeah I'm using an MXR iso brick. Gonna do some experimenting to see if I can isolate the issue. Thanks for a great video - this is why I got the pedal!
Pretty dumb of boss not to make the expression pedal do more. Like make it add trails. Or momentarily turn on the delay. Or switch to a favorite setting. Anything but whatever boss thought that would be used for😂. I do like the tap tempo. Strymon has a great setup for programming what the expression does on their Cloudburst reverb pedal. Boss could have done the same. Like what the dd8 does to program the delay type but to change the expression type
@@AntwhaleNearfar Are you really suggesting that this awful sound is going to be the basis for a whole genre of music that lasts and grows for decades like hiphop, etc. Just stop.
I first heard the Twist feature on the DD-20. So fake and disgusting to me, not at all like a real analog or tape oscillation. I am shocked they keep putting that sound on several pedals. It’s so gross.
OR just buy a TC Electronic Flashback 2; Analog Mode use mash funcrion to trip the fuck out and it sounds zillions better than this, no external footswitch, no nothing, simple psychedelic fuzzy chaos 🥰

Good job. Thanks for taking the time to put this all together on video.
This is like a whole different instrument. Good to know

What type of cable do you use to connect the FS-7 to the DD-8? 1/4 to 1/4 mono, 1/4TRS to? I
Stereo (TRS).

Yeah I can definitely recommend the FS-7 anyway. The DD-8 is great on its own but the dual footswitch turns it into a powerhouse!

Hi Michael, did you use a trs tip cable for the fs7 going in to the dd8?
I also want to know that
Yep, you need a stereo (TRS) cable. A mono cable would only enable one of the footswitches.

When you first turn the delay on, did you have it set to 16th notes prior?
The FS7 foot switch can you use it with the boss reverb Boss RV6 to control the reverb
Saw another video which says that you need to use a stereo cable between the FS 7 and the pedal it’s controlling .Is that right in this case?
I have the switch but haven't found a pedal it actually works well enough with to use it on , guess I'm trying this lol
Can it be used on dd7 or new keely halo

DD-7 have 3200ms max length and DD-8?
Good question. The DD-8 has a whopping 10,000ms (10sec) using the tap tempo.

Does this FS7 work in the same way with the Waza delay? Through the "rate" input?
Can I still create theses Osselation effects with a DD-7 and the FS-6? Been trying to figure it out. Let me know if you can please!

You’re not using a standard mono patch cable instead of a stereo cable to connect the FS-7 are you?

But a very good pedal otherwise.

Can I have a dual foot switch + an expression pedal at the same time with the DD-8?
Sadly not. It’s one or the other with the DD-8

Surely the cost of the foot switch puts you at the cost of the dd200 so what’s the point .
