Code Red II Surfing Massive Pops POV (July 17, 2022) 4K

- This POV video is longer so people can remember what it was like to paddle out on one of the biggest south shore swell days in decades. There's a longer segment of the beach walk in the beginning of the video where you can see the swell energy in the background. In the late evening, there was basically a 50 minute lull at Pops, the swell direction seemed to be concentrated at Canoes, Queens, Publics, Old Mans.
Wow I felt that drop in my stomach. I was thinking "dude it's getting dark, you gotta go for this, you can make it" and was so stoked when you turned around last second and made it.

Oh man that last wave was so long you could've rode it back to shore, up the boardwalk and right to your car!

One long ride is all you need to make a session, I used to surf the great lakes, we went out to California for a week surfing. We stayed at Cardiff, I think Rob Macado, is from there. Anyway. there is only one wave that stands out from the whole week. Having grown up in Indiana and not finding lake surfing until I was almost 40 years old. I had watched many surfing videos in my life, I was the kid in school who didn't play stick and ball sports in the 70's. I races dirt bikes, rode skate boards and dreamed of surfing someday.
Back to the one wave. I always watched the surf videos and would see people drag their fingers along the wave face. The one wave was the biggest wave I had ever surfed. it was about head high, (ya I know, but for me it was a big wave.) as I was gliding along kind of freaked out, I look over and there is the wall of the wave, I reaches out my hand and ran my fingers along the wave. It was a lifetime moment I had waited for and never thought would happen. Yep one wave is all you need to make a session or a week of them for that matter.
