Bentonville Arkansas, My hometown. As a child I knew the Waltons to be good people. They were a good influence. I have shown my Artwork at Crystal Bridges 3 times. I am grateful for the opportunity to do so. Im excited to see what The expansion of Crystal Bridges brings to NWA.
Good taste in art. Seems knowledgable about it. I don't like the spirit of Walmart and it's business practices, but this museum seems like a better use of money than what many other billionaires do. It's probably what I would do in her shoes.
Her own money made on the backs of poorly paid employees. They would probably like more money for food, than a museum. She is just trying to leave a legacy of being a wonderful human.
Bless you Alice Walton Bless You The one percent are people too. God loves the 99% and the 1% too. Stop playing the losers game of blaming. Bless Walmart too. Bless the people who work there also. When we play the blessing game miracles show up for us with regularity.
Bach wrote the bulk of his compositions as Kapellmeister of Leipzig. We don't know how many of his works survived but a large body did. Much of it was salvaged by Felix Mendelssohn. However, support for the arts does not negate the neglect and shameless exploitation of the very workers that made you wealthy enough to support the arts in the first place.
GOD BLESS YOU ALICE. I AM VERY PROUD OF YOU AND VERY HAPPY FOR YOU. WOW! THE MUSEUM IS ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE! I AM VERY PROUD OF YOUR FATHER SAM. I HOPE YOU AND YOUR FAMILY HAD A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS AND THE BEST 4TH OF JULY OF YOUR ENTIRE LIFE. ARTWORK IS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL! 🙏
To be fair and balanced to that old Arts & Leisure piece nobody remembers... I live with 2-4 Heiress's during any given appointment, and among many others, and they are the worst.
Here's a simple concept: If you can't afford to pay decent wages to those who made you wealthy, don't start opening up museums until you can! That comes under the rubric of being and honest and decent human being. Anything less does not. And no number of charitable contributions can make it otherwise. Sadly, money doesn't buy people a moral compass.
@davidlu789 you can still get the copies but not the originals. This is just like classical music, all composers of classical works were paid by royalty, church or the rich to compose masterpieces. No thanks, but I don't think anybody should end up like Bach. A shame because Bach had such great talent yet it was entirely lost to the 99%ers. Ask yourself why is it that the composers of great works were ONLY hired by the top 1%?
I think it's curious how people are now adopting the "1%" or "99%" lingo as though they had developed it themselves... has it never crossed them that it could be intentional that they use it? We think we shape our' own perceptions but often times we do not...
@Wolfsbane909 I love and appreciate the arts! It's exclusive and her message exemplified by its composition. Art should be appreciated and shared not owned by the privilege few as a marker of social status! :)
The free market is one of the most brilliant machines in the world, and yet those who carp refuse to understand where we'd be with any other system. Look around the world and point to where you'll move to put your money where your mouth is? See you in Cuba Sparky?
@billeybop well 99%ers. Let's look into history ALL previous composers of classical music were personally paid by either the 1%. Great compositions and artists from Beethoven to Mozart. Naturally there were artists that decided not to do so such as Bach, who made so many compositions but the beauty was entirely lost among the 99%. Bach died broke and majority of his works were lost. Art like before as it is now is only affordable for either the church, royalty and rich (1%).
Beautiful art, Beautiful Museum.........what would these millions of $$$. do for the PEOPLE OF ARKANSAS?! Millions and millions spent of canvas and paint while so many are hungry or sick or without transportation to "see the man made art". Why not spend $$ on the hurting humanity, the children in need? I LOVE art but I love the Children and feel for the ache of humanity More. Art for my home.....help for the needy. I fail to understand. Down to earth lady or out of touch lady? She only knows. I just observe.
The above wants to point a finger instead of looking in a mirror. Do you purchase quality goods from your own country or do you purchase the tempting foreign products? Who do you vote for? Where do you shop? What values do you teach your children?
@Wolfsbane909 Well your attitude towards others is evident! You know nothing about me or what my contributions have been! Where in the hell do you think these privileged 3 groups got their wealth to afford such pieces? The people that donated their 10% plus to the church, Monarchs stole from the poor and the average guy that patronized the businesses of ie Walmarts' of the world! All wealth come from the masses not the few so please cry on someone elses ignorance. Art has many forms! :(

A lot of hateful people come to this site to hate on a woman spending her own money for the benefit of everyone.
Her own money made on the backs of poorly paid employees. They would probably like more money for food, than a museum. She is just trying to leave a legacy of being a wonderful human.
There is nothing good about a woman who kills someone driving drunk, and then continues to drive drunk because she wasn’t held accountable
Instead of living wages for cashiers.
Take that sixty-eight million you saved and do something capital-H honorable for my man Roger Williams.
Very impressive and she is a credit to her country for wanting to share wonderful art collections

@MrRanwolfe - I live in northwest arkansas, the economy here isn't as badly stricken as other areas - I'm not sure where you're going with this.
The good stereotype of hicks
My dream will be to give her a rarity: own child

I very much agree. Having a art collection is part of being wealthy.

Billions of government money is spent on the children. Let the woman spend her own money as she wishes.

Delusional Elite, scary stuff
this is about as high-class southern accent as I'll expect to see is it?
Wow!! What an ago ... pay your workers a decent rate ....
