This ill-fated project delivers just what I feared: a pop album that has NOTHING to do with Glenn Gould.
A smattering of GG tinkling the keys, and...that’s it?
What in the world does this album do to highlight Gould’s genius, eccentricity or contribution to art and music?
This is a pop art project, not a Gould project. It’s maddening to me as a GG fan for the past four decades. I’m extremely disappointed in the GG Foundation and this channel.
What do you seriously expect?! Bach's music is about Transcendence, through devotion and practice one could achieve non-human levels of transcendence do you expect some pop project to get there?
I think you’re missing the point here. I’m confident that Gould would have been thrilled to hear how his recordings have a second life thanks to these artists. He was fascinated by technology, and this project is an hommage to this.
@@hortleberrycircusbround9678 - What is your point? I’m expressing my disappointment and disgust to the entities that control this channel, and the GG Foundation, in the hopes that this type of project will begin and end with this disaster. Are we on the same page here, or do you have positive things to say about this project? I have none, as you can see.
@@AlphaScorpii86 - Second life?! You can’t be serious. What about these recordings gives any kind of ‘second life’ to GG’s legacy?
Without the ridiculous marketing campaign, no one listening to these tracks would have any idea that this is related to Gould.
This project has whored Gould’s legend and image for an ill-conceived pop art ‘project’ that is a complete disaster. If you think that Gould would have been positive about this drivel, you clearly have not studied Gould’s work and art seriously. Give me a break, sir.
@@jjmckenna can you read words? I'm agreeing with you bozo! Do you know who John Coltrane is? He is someone that believed in Transcendence. To achieve Transcendence you have to go beyond what is humanly possible... That normally takes a virtuoso like GG or Bach. What do you expect a group of malnutrition fools that have been feeding on what Adorno would call the entertainment industry would produce?!! It's not even good camp....it utter nothing
Nice but the vocals are 100 times louder than the piano, bit silly really
I was ok with this first because i thought that its going to be remixes of Glenn Gould recordings. But turns out the G.G part has basically nothing to do with the actual structure of the songs :-[
@@krvr989 ok then you just do another pianist it’d be the same
@@krvr989 univited guests?
The autocratic GG Foundation lost its marbles ?
Would Gould have appreciated the sentiment? I cannot answer this question. However, given his musicality and sensibility, there is no way that he would appreciate this garbage. There is a complete lack of any intellectual merit!
Honestly, i think that Glenn Would have love the idea. I also believe that he would have been disappointed by the final product. i was expecting rappers raping in fuge form. pop singers doing canons and things more elaborated, instead i see this as using Glenn's Image and popularity for the benefits of people not for the benefit of MUSIC. but hey, maybe there are really good music to come(?) i hope.
I really wanted to hear Pop/Rap mixed with Classical properties.... that would have really enhanced Pop/Rap or any music...
Rapping fugue, such a good idea! Missed opportunity...
@@panimbryk The rapfugue
Why not?
This is actually alright but it would've been even better if the piano was a bit louder.
It would be much better and it would be perfect if it was just Glenn Gould on his chair playing Piano. This album proves that mankind getting more stupid. Take it away and leave Glenn Gould alone!
Good but not good, ikr.
This is a wonderful track! Not what I expected but definitely over delivered!
Good for you👏👏👏👏👏👏
