for all those who might get confused. This is a stand alone game, and its not related to mechwarrior 5. The way the mechwarrior series works is that there are two series. Mechwarrior and the mechwarrior mercenaries games. for example Mechwarrior 2/Mechwarrior 2 mercenaries , mechwarrior 4 vengance/mechwarrior 4 mercenaries and in this case mechwarrior 5 clans/ mechwarrior 5 mercenaries. The diference is that in the regular game the campaing and story is lineal. You finish a mission, unlock the next one, on and on until you reach the ending. In the mercenaries games you can travel to diferent worlds, take jobs, make money, puchase mechs and weapons, hire pilots, grind, buy better stuff etc. Why do they share the same number if they are not related at all? because it uses the same ingame assets. For example mechwarrior 2 mercenaries uses the game models and game engine from mechwarrior 2, same with 4. Now normaly the regular game is released first and then the mercenaries game, but in this case the mercenaries game came first before the regular game. So thats why this game is named mechwarrior 5. because it uses the same assets as mechwarrior 5 mercenaries with some changes here and there specialy on the UI . In fact all IS mechs models are the exact same.
Its a shame the clan games have always been liniar would be awesome to have an invasion mode where you choose planets to fly to to advance your control area and front lines etc like mercs games
Thanks, that honestly answered my main questions about this and then some. Cheers!
@@EODChaosWo1f but then everyone will just go to Terra, damn the physics and logistics. :v
@@9f81rsd00 you just cant go too far outside your area of control, only planets inside your territory for defensive missions and planets just past the front lines. that way they can have it where you can be of any clan and be a part of one of the 3 invasion lines. Mechwarrior 2 ends with your chosen clan on the moon of terra.
Because MW5 Clammers is made with UE5, and Mercs is with UE4. Literally different game engines. Its as simple as that lmao

@@jaytay5909 Star League was gone at that point. The Ameris Civil War killed off the legitimate rulers. It was the Great Houses (being manipulated and instigated by ComStar) that caused the Inner Sphere to fall into near collapse. When the SLDF ran away, it left a power vacuum in the former Terran Hegemony worlds. Well, I'll be damned. Nice!
The fact that it’s Clan Smoke Jaguar, a clan that notoriously was hit the hardest to the point of near extinction during the Great Refusal, is an interesting choice. Can’t wait to see how this story goes.
Same, wonder if we’re gonna stay jaguars or if we become bondsmen at some point. Honestly there’s a decent number of ways this could go and I’m excited to what they do with it.
Near Extinction? Pretty sure the Smoke Jaguars were pretty much wiped out entirely. The Clan no longer existed after the Great Refusal. Hell the Ghost Bears went Warden during the latter stages of Operations Bulldog and Scerpent.
@@chrisjohnson1146 No. Their is an unwritten rule of tabletop minature wargaming where you don't kill off a faction entirely. They must ALWAYS exist in some form. The reason for this is some of your customers are going to be all about that faction and so to keep them invested you must have something that keeps that faction going. In this case it was the Fidelis (they are Clan Smoke Jaguar) and eventually they got fully ressurected. Another example would be the Spirit Cats (Clan Nova Cat after being roflstomped). The only one to be fully destroyed was like Comstar and Word of Blake.
@@rainyvideos3684 What about Clan Blood Spirit, Clan Mongoose, Clan Fire Mandrill, Clan Widowmaker, Clan Wolverine and Clan Burrock?
@groundmasterc Ok so you have the Minessota Tribe which has been acknowledged to be Clan Wolverine so they don't violate the rule. Some of these are also for universe development and the plot. Like for example, Clan Widow Maker was never a faction when the Clans were introduced for the invasion. They were more already background window dressing to give a reason for Nicholas Kerensky to "exit the stage" shall we say and let each of the clans have a more unique identity rather then them all being the same because Kerensky's influence.
Now as for other clans that were later completely removed, the writers realized they had a problem, they made too many Clans for themselves to manage. But it's also awkard to leave them in limbo. So unfortunately some of them had to be cut for management's sake. It is a violation, but there's a reason why.
Players brand new to Battletech: "Yeah! Let's take down the fascists! Smoke Jaguar rules!"

@@twisted9251 We did it with our own hands. Back in the 1999 when MW3 got released.
Would have been better for them to use 'despotic' instead of 'fascist' only because it would be a bit more precise. While House Kurita has fascistic characteristics, the Capellans really take the title for that one. The Clans aren't fascist, they're a quasi-socialist authoritarian state with a eugenics-based meritocracy. That's a bit of a mouthful, but there's no private capital allied to centralized power brokers and totalitarian ideology (which is what fascism is). If that sounds a bit like Davion, Steiner, Kurita, and Liao, and even Marik behind the scenes, then... yeah... the Successor States all have some disagreeable elements, by design.
Well, the thing is…
Clanners are hypocritical willingly or not.
At least from Black Pants Legion, even if it’s comedic and in-universe based on someone who don’t like Clans and Inner Sphere.
Even if “You Innersphere caused intergalactic Nuclear and Biological Wars that reduced them to fighting over literal scrap heap for mechs” have credence.
Hopibg that this will take us at least as far as Tukayyid, then fight in OZs, DLC has you oppose Operations Bulldog and Serpent, further DCL let you play the other Clan invasions (if its as big as MW5)
Gimme back my Kodiak!!
PGI, you did well! A video in the style of MW2: 31 Century Combat. The spirit and atmosphere of the Clans is perfectly conveyed. The commander's speech is just fire! Clans, forward to victory!
A clanner calling the kuritians fascists is downright insane
Then again, this is kinda fitting for a Clan.
Like they are hypocritical and arrogant even after being hobbled by Tukkayid.
- accusing Inner Sphere of “sullying” English while also using distorted and conjugated version.
- claim to be “ahistorical” but take pages from Sparta (also their sports team)
- above mentioned issue…while also having rigid caste system based on genetics.
Yeah, the clans agree with fascist principles of everything being for and within the state. They just don't agree with rule by decadent non-military aristocracy.
I'm getting 80s vibes while watching this and I'm loving it!
Yeah Battletech is very much a product of the 80s in the fun ways.
Most of the 80s werent real. We were all manufactured in 1988 with implanted memories.
Big Boss Baby vibes, amirite?
@TheRealColBosch Not really applicable here. Battletech is a product of the 80's sci-fi themes and styles and has maintained much of that with only minor visual changes (particularly on mechs).

Mechwarrriors 5 was AWESOME, super underrated game imo!!!...
For those who don't understand why Clan Smoke Jaguar has chosen to invade the Draconis Combine, let me shed some light here:
During the Star League Civil War, Stefan Amaris kidnapped Ambassador Drago Kurita and his family on Terra. They were used as a bargaining chip to coerce Coordinator Minoru Kurita from not participating in the Civil War. Unfortunately for Minoru, Stefan (being the scumbag he is) executed Drago and his entire family on Terra after the war.
It was one of the other benefactors to the fall of the Star League and the reason why Clan Smoke Jaguar hates House Kurita.
