My experience with the Vivo X100Pro: Not a super heavy user like ben and i get 10 hours screen on time easily. In my area i have no 5G so i guess thats a factor. Gaming, Performance in general, battery life are really good. Camera is just annihilating the 15 pro max and the s23 ultra (have them both here). Got it in china for 630bucks.. the iPhone 15 pro max costs 1449 here 😂
It is unfair to compare Chinese prices with, for example, the UK, as you do not have 20% VAT, the costly EU regulations to pass, the 2-year warranty, extra band support, transport costs, etc. Also, due to VIVO's failure to pay for patent licenses, they are banned in some EU countries, and the X90 was not even released in the UK because of that.
For once I'm inclined to politely agree on practically every point you mention. I hope that some time down the line we could see a proper maxed out comparison of this generation: X100 Pro+, 15PM and S24 Ultra.
Pretty confident the X100 Pro+ is going to spank the S24U. Samsung really messed up this year, now that other phone manufacturers are bringing the real heat when it comes to zooming, Samsung gives up.... Hope they bring a high resolution 10x lens to the 25U.
I do agree 100% with you on this. Funtouch looks outdated, and we'd like an updated look for any future Vivo, with a flat panel, please. But we all know we really love Vivo's for their top-tier camera.
I bought the X70 Pro + pretty much on launch and it's a fantastic phone, just in time for the concert season after the pandemic. Now I really want to replace it with the x100 Pro + but the recent leak of the Oppo Find X7 Ultra give me some toughts about that buy. Good vid, Ben, as usual.
Vivo is now lit in photography. Vivo cameras in the V29 pro is soo good. The Iqoo 12 however above it but then the Xseries is on top, their flagship. Any of the Vivo these 3 phones are Vivo's great camera centric phones.
Fantastic review Ben. And those photos!!! Have to give your photographic perspective the credit it deserves as well, and not just attribute the results to the hardware. Excellent snaps!
I am glad to see this review. I just bought this phone and this review was the confirmation that I wanted. I've seen a lot os reviews, but none of them was capable of show how powerful the camera really is. Cheers from Brazil!
Rapaz.
As a European user of the X80pro I just hope they have become better at tuning Android for us. Android Auto for example doesn't work properly, some BT issues too. Other than that, it's all about the camera for me so here's hoping they'll bring their flagship model over to us and support it properly. They may need to buy some advertising too, as so few people even know of the manufacturer.
I ordered the X100 Pro to replace my X90 Pro Plus and it was great for the first week then after an oxygen OS update the screen glitched and it would not read the SIM card I have a replacement coming from Hong Kong and I can't wait
You sold me within the first 2 minutes of this video. Holy crap those photos with the filter was amazing Edit: Your 25x photo does look uncanny. Really excited for this phone with how you showed off all the samples!
I am really really impressed with the results from this phone. Finally a phone that doesn't give u the smartphone look. Ik it's a phone but the results speak for themselves. I wanted a new phone like a Mi12 ultra but then my camera broke. I wanted to buy a newer camera as I already have lenses and stuff but this phone seems really good. I shoot M4/3 btw and not full frame.
Best camera phone ever. I am totally amazed by vivo X100 Pro's tele-lens. You can get amazing details at 10X, it's sharp with more details. Portait mode is also stunning. Can't believe that how X100 Pro+ or X100 Ultra released next year, which will shock me in a what way.
Thank you so much for your insight. I'm amazed in this day and age, we're talking about Fstops and focal length, wide and zoom lenses. My career was newspaper photographer and I started in that business in the 1950s. But today I thought most people used their phone cameras as poiint and shoot. I have ordered a Vivo X100 Pro this week because of exactly what you wrote -- it produces some of the most amazing photos I've seen in a while. Also wanted to tank you for your guidance on best portrait photos using the periscope zoom lens and Vivo's vintage fill filter. With enough trial and error I may have stumbled across those settings but I'm 75 years old and not as sharp as I used to be. Well done on this review -- I subscribed to your channel -- very insightful.
thank you so much Norris for your kind words. I worked in newspapers about 13 years ago too as a culture writer and later copyeditor. I miss the newsroom environment as media increasingly go digital. I wish you well and I hope you have fun snapping photos! take care
Did I hear it right? You have X100 Pro "global" version which loaded with FunTouchOS. I haven't read anything from Vivo on the global version timeline. That's amazing news to us, been waiting for it.
That black cat picture you took made me so sad. I haven't been taking pictures of my cat because the s23 ultra camera is horrible. He always comes out blurry or no details even in good lighting. Pixel was miles better.. That vivo is a dream machine!
And again, one of the best reviews with phones that are really good. Thanks, Ben! Maybe the x100pro+ will have a better hardware and software design. I am waiting for the Xiaomi 14 ultra, Vivo x100 pro + and Honor 6 magic pro. I love how the Xiaomi looks and how they process pictures (Vivo kind of adds beauty filters while Xiaomi leaves faces true, right?). Maybe the Xiaomi 14 ultra with a 1" sensor will be the sweet spot? :)
A title I totally agree with! And I can't wait to see the comparison between dual periscope camera (Oppo Find X7 Pro/Ultra) vs dual telephoto camera (Xiaomi 14 Ultra) and 160MP periscope camera (Honor Magic 6 Pro/Ultimate) vs 200MP periscope camera (Vivo X100 Pro+/Ultra)
Thanks for this review that came to me just when I needed it. Yet the next question is: Should we wait for the X100 Plus and/or 14 Ultra?? It just seems there is a lot of good stuff coming up.
0:09 I'm totally flabbergasted over the fact that this Vivo X100 phone can shoot a 10x zoom, crystal clear photo in low light conditions or dark places. 0:09 shooting in dark places in the zoom mode is what has me totally hypnotized. The two Titans of phone makers got to be aware of this splendid zoom capture in low light conditions. 3:28 Xiaomi flat sides and gorgeous Bezel-less screens are splendid to watch. A curve screen does have a certain amount of aesthetic but it's useless to read on and to work with. 8:29 Even at 10x (600mm) it produces jaw dropping, crystal clear details, a quality to mesmerise upon.
It seems like it has to come with 8 gen3, because Vivo stated plus will be significantly more expensive, that has to come with something bigger than slightly better camera.
Just ordered the x100pro like a week ago and wasnt quite sure if i made the right choice. I'm realy into night photography and stills, but didnt have a lot of information. Just wanna thank you for the video for reinforcing my believe that i made the right choice. Also got the china version with origin OS, its gonna be a hustle the first few day cause i live in germany, but hopefully worth it.
was it the right choice? im thinking of ordering one but a bit less confident because of the lack of support not only in germany but also europe in general.
@@moe1364It definitely was the right choice, besides some notification issues that i have mostly fixed now the x100 pro is an amazing phone. Althopugh it does not support Band 20 i had no conectivity issues and the camera is ervery bit as good as advertised. Not joking but this thing can spit out images that are on the same level as a DSLR Camera. I ordered from tradingshenzen with play store preinstalled, had no issued with the google apps or any other "western" standard apps so far. Keep in mind that it comes with a lot of chinese boatware that you can mostly delete.
I am not surprised. The X80 Pro was one of the few cameras I found to be a match for my Mate 40 Pro in terms of image quality and texture, but I wasn't that impressed with the tele. Now that I find a need for more, this might just be the phone to do it. I've liked the newer 1//2" tele sensor on the Mate 50, but I am not fond of the smaller main and the incredibly aggressive image sharpening... this Vivo just might be the ticket, looks like they've kept that subtle processing and carried it over from previous generations... pair that with big, beautiful sensors... wow.
Dayum! amazing! Ben you prob know I make YT vids using Vivo X70 Pro+ (& LOVE it:) but 3 years on looking to upgrade. Could you do a follow-up focused on video, particularly low light? (vs iPhone 15). Also, any word on a x100 Pro+ or will they skip a + gen like the X80's?
Follow-up: Just reading X100 Pro+ may launch as x100 Ultra - "Tipster Digital Chat Station said in a Weibo post that the Vivo X100 Pro+ is expected to feature a 200-megapixel sensor with a 1/1.5-inch periscope telephoto lens. The lens is expected to offer 4.3x optical zoom which is said to provide images with a resolution equivalent to a 10-megapixel periscope lens with up to 10x optical zoom. It is expected to support 200-megapixel digital zoom when used together. Leaks have suggested that the Vivo X100 Pro+ may launch with a 50-megapixel Sony LYT-900 primary rear sensor. The phone may also feature a 50-megapixel Sony IMX589 sensor with an ultra-wide lens and a 50-megapixel IMX758 portrait lens. The report also suggests that the Vivo X100 Pro+ is likely to be unveiled within the first half of 2024. It adds that the model may also launch with the moniker Vivo X100 Ultra." - So I will wait to upgrade (following Ben's coming review, of course;). STL
I bought it on Aliexpress. took almost a whole month. It is so good. I also have the Samsung S23 ultra, It has better zoom than the s23 ultra, which has a very small 10x zoom CMOS.
@@TheHandbrake2 it's a Chinese version, with origin os. I installed Google store. It runs faster than any , I mean every android phone I ever had. Destroy my pixel 7 pro.
The only smartphone that could make me leave Samsung (the Galaxy Ultra), would be a Vivo X Pro Plus (with Snapdragon and a selfie camera that shoots in stabilized 4k HDR), but above all, with Origin-OS internationally.
Could the battery life issues be due to it having Funtouch OS instead of Origin OS that chinese variants get? Because chinese reviewers have mostly agreed that this has one of the best battery life on any phone
didnt they use gimbal stabilization before? I wonder if its still possible to do it on all lenses when the camera bump is already so damn thick. But my god these images are stunning, that filter and bokeh are just amazing
Thanks for making this video Ben. X100 pro produced amazing zoom photos, as you've shown in the video. But I'm interested to know how do you find the zoom results compared to S23 Ultra, do you think they are comparable?
so ben hated the ultrawide , the front camera and the video 😅😅 ,, we know you ben , since u didn't mentioned any then they are just okay pass 😊😊😅 ,, great vid as usual bud.
vivo is one of the best, if not the best for full res 50mp shots, another point to mention. I just wish they had better speakers or better battery, something like the S23 Ultra or even better for battery and speakers close to the Xiaomi 13 Ultra (the best flagship speakers excluding gaming phones). I think flagship phones should go for higher resolution, like 20-28 MP, like how the Mi 11 or Mi 10 Ultra was and how the iPhone is. Allows for better zoomablity/cropping, what are your thoughts?
It must be a tough call for manufacturers: add a style/personality/filter to the photos to make them look great (as Vivo has done here), or make them look as realistic as possible. There are some phones that produce very realistic shots (good colours, exposure etc), but I would prefer the stylised Vivo x100 pro shots all day long.
Really great video as expected. I was wondering when companies would start using AI for the zoom shots, didn't expect it to be so soon. Once you pointed it out, it's hard not to see it. 10:37 looks very AI generated, not sure if I like it. Open up some interesting philosophical questions about photography. Great phone anyway, but the Oppo Find X7 Pro should surpass it in terms of cameras.
Goodness me; those photos look really, really good.As an overall camera system,it seems great, but not the best,as its biggest weakness is in video recording, which also matters to a lot of people.I'm very impressed by what Vivio has achieved with this phone.
King of portrait just got another crown which is King of zoom. The photo quality surprisingly excellent. I bought mine from China and after one day use I sold my S23 ultra right away solely because the camera is far better in my opinion but rather than that I give all the points to s23 ultra, lol.
First of all, wonderful review. Really detailed with all the relevant information. Coming to the X100Pro, I am quite disappointed with it. The improvements and enhancements over last year's X90 Pro are not upto the level I had expected. So much so that even the design of both phones are almost identical, a fact pointed out in this review. I had expected Vivo to really work on this phone given the phone last year was the first with that 1 inch sensor. Unfortunately, all Vivo did was minor tweeking.
I dont know. But looking at all the iphones i had 4s, 5s, 6plus, XS, then my sisters 14pro and moms 15pro plus. I also lookednat designs of some xiaomi and Samsung. And damn! They also just tweeking some little details on their phones. No big Diff on design. 😂 So i dont know where you are comparing this Vivo at. 😅
@@Papeebords I'm comparing this Vivo to the last Vivo. I thought I made that abundantly clear. 😂😂 And yes phone companies these days only do small tweaking but given the senor they put in the X90 pro last year, I thought Vivo would do a lot more than what they actually did in the X100 pro. P.S. I'm a thorough bread Android user and I feel iphones are a bunch of overhyped gadgets.
@@finderskeepers7293I would seriously consider this but I love shooting videos on my phone. Still no Android has come close to the Iphone when it comes to videos.
Also ben do you have any plans of comparing the shutter speed of phones? I'm absolutely hating the one on my S22 Ultra and just am a huge fan of the iPhone's fast af shutter speed. Would like to see you compare or at least put a snippet of you snapping shots in normal light and night time to see the shutter speed.
I live in the EU and I want to buy the Global Version but it's never in stock or too expensive. If I buy the Chinese version will there be any cons, i mean downsides or negatives
I really appreciate your professional and detailed reviews!💯 By the way, how much difference is there between the X100 and X100 pro in terms of camera performance? I prefer the X100(S) because of the flat display, but the performance of the camera is what makes me hesitate which one to choose.
Wow..the camera on this phone is just breathtaking! 📸 Currently I'm still using the oppo a37, but dreaming of the day when I can hold a new smartphone like a everyone. I'm hopeful for the moment when I can capture life's moments with the latest technology . 💕 #DreamingOfANewPhone #EveryMemoryMatters
I am completely impressed with your clear review and mentioning the disadvantages before the features excellent review thank you I am seriously thinking of owning a Vivo phone x100 pro+ after my current phone Mate 40 Pro
S24 ultra Vs Vivo X100 pro ... Which one would be better in an overall aspect ... Considering photos, videos, performance, software updates .. everything..
Really the OriginOs is way better. Currently using the X100pro, but soon selling it off to a friend haha. There some bugs on the china rom which i dont like. But OriginOS rocks haha.
Thank you Ben, I am a big fan of your reviews. I am a professional photographer and have been using the Xiaomi 13 Ultra (global version). I am temped to get the Vivo X100 Pro after watching your video. What are your thoughts, would this be an improvement in your opinion? Sending greetings your way from New Zealand, Birgit
Hopefully they could fix the HDR tho, when compared to 90p+ it's kinda weak especially when shooting directly at the light source, and hopefully this js something they can fix with a patch, and not a product of D9300 ISP being weak. (V chip only receives the info that SoC's ISP provides) so hopefully that is the case. One more knit pick is that fp sensor is down at very bottom like in 888 era. It's to cut cost, and rhey used optical (understandable, but its a shame that iQoo12 has ultrasonic like Samsung, still better than cheap optical)
Vivo has made a huge deal about taking shots of the sun, so presumably they have fixed the issues with shooting into light sources, unless they specifically only targeted the sun for that image processing.
Indeed for stills. If you're main goal is to capture as many photos as you want, this is the number 1 pick for any portrait level photography.
what about videography?
For portrait level photography I still prefer the Nubia Z50s Pro with 35 mm camera.

I only have 1 question. Where can you buy the global version with Funtouch OS, and do they ship internationally?
I bought it on Aliexpress. took almost a whole month. It is so good. I also have the Samsung S23 ultra, It has better zoom than the s23 ultra, which has a very small 10x zoom CMOS.
Was it the global version? Every X100 pro I see on AliExpress is the Chinese version running Origin OS.
@@TheHandbrake2 it's a Chinese version, with origin os. I installed Google store. It runs faster than any , I mean every android phone I ever had. Destroy my pixel 7 pro.
The only smartphone that could make me leave Samsung (the Galaxy Ultra), would be a Vivo X Pro Plus (with Snapdragon and a selfie camera that shoots in stabilized 4k HDR), but above all, with Origin-OS internationally.
hi ben. great review as always.
can u please tell me where to get the global version of the vivo x100 pro?
thanks
Great looking photo's and thx for the video Ben!
Where can I buy this vivo?
7-8 hours with 20% left is amazing bro wdym
10h screen on time at least
@@riverzane8350 yeah, that's the point (?) 8 hrs use consume 80% of the battery so it should last for 10 hrs
Hello Ben, thank you for another nice review. The Vivo X100 Pro's photo samples look very good, well done
Wow the images look incredible!
Great video and really nice phone. Can you compare this camera with the p60 pro
Could the battery life issues be due to it having Funtouch OS instead of Origin OS that chinese variants get? Because chinese reviewers have mostly agreed that this has one of the best battery life on any phone
It's a very easy-to-understand explanation. I'm looking at it with interest.
Compared to an iPhone do you think it’s better in terms of photos and videos quality ?
didnt they use gimbal stabilization before? I wonder if its still possible to do it on all lenses when the camera bump is already so damn thick.
But my god these images are stunning, that filter and bokeh are just amazing
I'm having a Vivo NEX 3 and I am so lucky to have the OriginOS, it gives you a different experience indeed.
Thanks for making this video Ben. X100 pro produced amazing zoom photos, as you've shown in the video. But I'm interested to know how do you find the zoom results compared to S23 Ultra, do you think they are comparable?
Vivo is much better and I've never seen such smooth transitions between the zooms lenses in the video mode elsewhere.
Where Is the best? Vivo x100 pro? Or vivo x90 pro plus? Fotos...detsils..zoom ?
great review as always ben!
so ben hated the ultrawide , the front camera and the video 😅😅 ,, we know you ben , since u didn't mentioned any then they are just okay pass 😊😊😅 ,, great vid as usual bud.
Didn't hate those lenses at all. The ultra wide is 50mp decent sensor. It's better than the iPhone or s23 ultra one for sure lol
I wish they keep the Physical Gimbal
That portrait shot is scary indeed 😂😂
Agreed Bradley 🤣
Ben, if you are using global version, can you confirm whether Google timeline/location history works on the X100 Pro ?
We're waiting for camera comparison between s23 ultra and vivo x100 pro 😍
The x100 pro plus is supposed to arrive next year with Snapdragon gen 3 maybe that will fix battery
vivo is one of the best, if not the best for full res 50mp shots, another point to mention.
*Aguardando o Vivo X100 Pro Plus!!!* 👏👏👏
Goodness me; those photos look really, really good.As an overall camera system,it seems great, but not the best,as its biggest weakness is in video recording, which also matters to a lot of people.I'm very impressed by what Vivio has achieved with this phone.
unreal shots.
I'd be sold if the video was up to the same level of WOW. Thanks for the great video!
Do you think the new Xiaomi 14 Ultra will beat the image quality of the Vivo x100 PRO?
The color processing on this phone is gorgeous. Im so sad we wont get this phone in the US. I would switch just for those colors.
King of portrait just got another crown which is King of zoom. The photo quality surprisingly excellent. I bought mine from China and after one day use I sold my S23 ultra right away solely because the camera is far better in my opinion but rather than that I give all the points to s23 ultra, lol.
So s23 ultra good choice?
That 25x portrait of yours is hilarious , made me laught badly bruh 😂😂😂😂
Great review and what a phone 👌🏽🥳🥳🥳
So i dont know where you are comparing this Vivo at. 😅
@@Papeebords I'm comparing this Vivo to the last Vivo. I thought I made that abundantly clear. 😂😂
And yes phone companies these days only do small tweaking but given the senor they put in the X90 pro last year, I thought Vivo would do a lot more than what they actually did in the X100 pro.
Is Vivo planning to launch a Pro Plus model for the X100 series?
Yep
When?@@phonedroid_uz
I live in the EU and I want to buy the Global Version but it's never in stock or too expensive. If I buy the Chinese version will there be any cons, i mean downsides or negatives
The Plus version should be released soon
I really appreciate your professional and detailed reviews!💯 By the way, how much difference is there between the X100 and X100 pro in terms of camera performance? I prefer the X100(S) because of the flat display, but the performance of the camera is what makes me hesitate which one to choose.
i would like very much if you can add pwm dimming display tests of displays. it will be helpful to see which screen is better for eyes health.
I wonder who gets the flagship devices of Oppo & Vivo etc.
Looking forward to your thoughts about the X100 Ultra
Wow..the camera on this phone is just breathtaking! 📸 Currently I'm still using the oppo a37, but dreaming of the day when I can hold a new smartphone like a everyone. I'm hopeful for the moment when I can capture life's moments with the latest technology . 💕 #DreamingOfANewPhone #EveryMemoryMatters
I just sold my X90 Pro Plus and looking for a new cell. I will definitely get a global variant.
The cost barriers for a Vivo x100 Pro is much lower than x90 which is certainly going to be much more attractive
I am completely impressed with your clear review and mentioning the disadvantages before the features excellent review thank you
I am seriously thinking of owning a Vivo phone x100 pro+ after my current phone Mate 40 Pro
Can't wait to see a camera comparison of the S23 Ultra vs the X100.
But OriginOS rocks haha.
great video Ben👍
Looks great and will be interesting to see how big of an improvement will come with Sony LYT 900 sensor 🤔
I'm using X90 pro plus. I'm waiting for x100 plus
i don't recommend upgrading if you are considering that/ x90 pro plus is still a champ
Great work as usual Ben 😁👍
Can i ask some advice please :
Is the iqoo 12 a great alternative to curved screen phones ?
Thank you Ben, I am a big fan of your reviews. I am a professional photographer and have been using the Xiaomi 13 Ultra (global version). I am temped to get the Vivo X100 Pro after watching your video. What are your thoughts, would this be an improvement in your opinion? Sending greetings your way from New Zealand, Birgit
Depends on your needs. Weigh both their offerings
Damn that camera is crazy
Bro how did you get hold of the global rom?
at last, this is what ive been looking for
Hopefully they could fix the HDR tho, when compared to 90p+ it's kinda weak especially when shooting directly at the light source, and hopefully this js something they can fix with a patch, and not a product of D9300 ISP being weak.
