I think you're going to have Growing Pains if they have a lot of rookies sprinkled into the lineup. Esp on the back end and yes this team could take a step back before it starts making noise.

The team defense problem isn't solely on the players. The coach's system isn't a defensive system. It's a run and gun offensive system. It the coach doesn't change his team's system of play then he has to be replaced by a more defense first coach who coaches a system that shuts down opposing O zone entries and forces turnovers.

We had to make room for some youth that are no longer waiver exempt.
I only wish it was not Walman.

There are still some questions but we'll see what happens.

I think the wings have a much better team after all the moves. Btw Walman was thrown into the Nick Leddy trade to the blues as the least valuable piece. Wings also got a 2nd rd pick and Sunquist. Nobody knew Walman was any good at the time except for Yzerman who said he has watched him for years and really liked Walman his draft year, but the blues got him first.

Their D could use another piece on the right side, but they'd have to move out Holl or Petry. To do that, you'd have to package a prospect or a mid-round pick and I'm not sure it's worth it right now. We're deeper at both Forward and Goalie. Defense is a question mark, whether they improved or not, but if Edvinsson is as good as projected and Johansson is an upgrade from Petry, then we could be a playoff team.

i agree 100%, everyone is also writing off Husso, but i think he could have a bounce back season, he was fairly good in 2022-23

@@HaskeyHighlights I think Talbot will be the starter, as large workloads seem to catch up with Lyon. Yzerman said he didn't want to run three goalies this season and we once again have a log jam. Husso is the one with the largest contract, so I think we will have three until another team inevitably runs into injury issues and we can get rid of his cap hit to use at the deadline. Maybe even bundle one of those bad D contracts with it.

@@andrewborody Its a possibility! i may just have soft spot for the HUUUS chants lol ,speaking of goalies, are you more excited for Sabastian Cossa or Trey Augustine? if both can reach their potentials, Wings could have a scary goalie duo.

@@HaskeyHighlights For sure! I like Husso too, but he's injury prone and hasn't found consistency since his first season in Detroit. I think Cossa makes his way into a few games this season and if all goes well, maybe takes on a backup or split role with Talbot in 2025-26. Augustine is potentially an even better goalie than Cossa. I can't see both of them being flops. Fingers crossed.

Same!!! They’re are so the same it’s disgusting. If anything the defense is a little worse but not a lot so pretty much the same. The loss of points from ghost will be made up for by having Kane all season and maybe Bergeron takes a step. Maybe Raymond continues getting better. And the d man from New York slots into ghosts spot ok. Ghost didn’t play a lot of d he was a forward basically so not a huge step down. But for sure not any better

Don't forget sieder was able to be quite a scorer prior to last season. This last season he was Essentially there only defence so he was not able too. Hopefully with some added help of edvinson and some new additions and more defensive minded players on the ice he is able to gain more points as well.

Goals in vs. Goals out. Math doesn't add up. Plus the D is still a mess. They might squeak in if the youngsters over perform
