      That’s amazing! In all sincerity, steven furtick is not a true teacher of the word, and I would advise to get as far away from that church as you can. Plug yourself in to a true Bible believing church, but know that as a warning to your souls nourishment, steven furtick is a false teacher and does not truly teach Gods word, neither about sin or anything regarding the true walk with Christ. He also sides with people such as Kenneth Copeland and Joel olsteen, which are all unbiblical false teachers

      no.... as it turns out Gods perfect design......IS..... that we fear HIM(and Love HIM) and keep HIS commandments-->[Ecc 12:13 KJV] 13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this [is] the whole [duty] of man.

    I have been suffering from anxiety and panic attacks.. sometimes thinking I'm going crazy. Ugly thoughts, intrusive destructive thoughts of what ifs etc... I have found that many of the counseling offered today is to teach us to cope and "live" with it so that we can manage it and not allow it to control us. However that collided with my spirit because I belong to Christ and as such "living with it" is not enough for me when I know my God is bigger than that. He can eliminate it he is my peace! I would appreciate you guys prayers... sometimes sleepless nights that feel like torture but I know God is good. Help me Lord so thay I may be a testimony to advance your kingdom.

    I can understand the many perspectives on preaching styles, personality tendencies, life experiences, and learned preferences. What I heard from the beginning was Matt being vulnerable and transparent regarding a personal expressions of fear and anxiety from a near death experience. His willingness to struggle openly on stage and online is worthy of some level of respect and admiration. It is obvious that this message was difficult for him and his own immortality surfaces several times during the message. In my opinion, he is still grieving his diagnosis and prognosis. His message is in many way therapeutic for himself along with a gift he is offering to this who are choosing to receive it. I see a fellow human navigating life in spite of his own limitations and personal experiences. He has found comfort and counsel through faith in God and truth in Christ's teachings.

    I was (and sometimes still am) afraid of the truth of God, because I had the feeling that because I still sin I am not forgiven or I am not saved etc. But I remembered that the race is NOT over God is working on me in HIS timeframe and HIS wisdom and timing. God knows I can only take so much, so he works on me slower then others but it is HIS work not mine. So basicly it is a fear and faith issue, and even that is being worked on. Praise Jesus for dying for my sins! Thank you Jesus!

      the devil is playing with ur mind, if uve had mental health issues, u might want to look into scrupulosity. if you love Jesus, belive that He came in the The Flesh, died on the cross, and rose on the third day, you have the Holy Spirit. God spoke to me when i struggled with this exact same thing!!! He said you have the Holy spirit bc i always question my salvation, and if i committed blasphemy. He spoke to me through the word/ commentary. you are not alone and u are in God’s hands!😊

    I was laying in bed last night telling God that I was afraid of Him because I believed He would completely destroy my life under the guise of sanctifying and refining me. I have struggled with anxiety for 1 year now, and looking back, every thing I was anxious of was later revealed to be sin I was being delivered from. I believe the anxiety I have been dealing with for the past 3 months is no different and the freedom from the shame and guilt I have carried with me over these months will soon be a testimony for others. God has come to show me that anxiety and fear is the thing that draws me to Him because it is in my anxiety that I realize how helpless and powerless I am. I’ve always had a hard time trusting God but I have also come to realize that it is in my suffering that I feel His love and mercy and grace like never before. I am afraid of God but I need Him in order to face the fear I have of Him and of life. This video came at a perfect time for me, God is good even if my feelings lead me to think otherwise.

      @@MsRockstar013 Me 3! Have always felt like this with God- afraid of Him but rely on Him as my only father & Savior. My mother was judgemental and always felt condemned by her (maybe she didn't mean to be that way) and she never delighted or enjoyed me so perhaps my anxiety and fears stem from my relationship with my mother. Never had a father to be in my corner and on my side. Thanks be to Jesus, my Savior and my God for walking with us and sanctifying us, giving us courage of heart.

      I've been in that same place, and hearing this preached is so hard to take, I totally get that. I hope that since you commented things have been looking up. God goes with us wherever we go, and God wants you to find joy and love and contentment wherever you are, and it's too bad the sinful world puts us in places where our everyday needs are not met, but blame has no place in who brought you where you are, just keep looking forward and be mindful of what God has walked you through.

    This is an area where I have suffered immensely. I have served the Lord with great fervor in my earlier years. In the past 3-4 years I have been just kind of sitting on the fence. My fear, and anxiety it torments me to the point at sometimes I cant sleep. I lay awake thinking of what will happen in the next 5 years. Looking at my husband and knowing one day he will not be here and even looking at my dogs. It sounds crazy I know but this is my reality. I am hoping to one day seek the Lord as I was made to do..

    many men of God preach in many different ways because there is a great deal of diversity in the world. that is God's Grace meeting each of us where we are at. if one does not like the style with which someone of the anointing preaches, there are many others out there which would meet their spiritual needs right well. if they are preaching outside of the anointing, that is between them and God, He alone who holds the right to judge. what is sure is that we are absolutely not to condemn others even if we do not relate to their perspective. we have made the choice to listen/watch & that is on us. that is the thing about free will. we are resposible each for our own choices & responsible for searching the scriptures & prayerfully seeking God's guidance. we are all in different places spiritually & are responsible only for our own faith not that of others. if we are shredding someone with our words & passing judgment on them for doing as they feel the Lord has led them to, we will give an account before God for such. we are also not to participate in back and forth disagreements between brethren, for, how then will the lost see God's Love above all? we must proceed cautiously when posting comments & ask ourselves: am i being led by the Holy Spirit in what i am about to say? & how will what i am about to say bring glory to God? we are being watched by a dying world & daily accused by satan. we would do best not to make his work easier by our own behavior to the shame of God's Holy Name.
    may all be blessed with wisdom, truth, & above all, LOVE.

    I understand how that circumstances can cause fear and anxiety, but there is a HUGE difference between being anxious and have an Anxiety Disorder. A disorder is something that is out of your control and is the result of a chemical imbalance in the brain. People without the disorder don't understand, but that's okay. I never would want them to because it's miserable.

    I love the sermon & admire the fight to rest in the Lord at all time.
    BUT the sharing of pastor Bo is dangerous. We don't ask DM1 diabetics to stop taking insulin, nor should we encourage someone with mental illness (clinical depression, bipolar, schizophrenia etc) to stop taking medications, EVER.
    Our bodies are wasting away but inwardly renewed day by day.
    Not feeding or caring for this wasting body is bad stewardship, and brain is part of the body. Isn't too low serotonin or too high dopamine just a "wasting away" of the brain, as much as cancer?

    • @289dancer
      @289dancer 7 лет назад +2

      youve named spirits. those so called mental diseases are demonic spirits. people can get healed from them in Jesus name at a healing Spirit filled ministry. those meds oepn doors for more demons to come. they shut down the brain and are temporary binding of the spirits already inhabiting the person. they are not treatment.

      You speak from ignorance, brother. By the Grace of God I do not take medication for bipolar manic depression, but the illness is very real, as real as any physical illness and may be more damaging than most-I survived two legitimate suicide attempts. One can go days or weeks barely eating, being hyper-productive, feeling like Superman, and then for no reason, out of nowhere, go through days to weeks to months of debilitating depression, for no apparent reason, and the likes of which anyone without the illness could never possibly understand. It is very real, and for you to say it isn’t is a disservice to your brothers and sisters who may suffer from that and other varying mental illnesses. Every part of the body can become diseased, the brain is no different, albeit mental health is not as tangible. That said, God can and did cure my bipolar disorder. I haven’t had a manic nor depressive episode since I gave my life to Christ, and all of the darkness, emptiness, anger, confusion, hopelessness, maddening sadness and horrors of the mind were eradicated in an instant and replaced by immovable joy and peace of mind-the first time I sincerely prayed to God with all my heart, soul and mind, truly giving in by giving up control. Bipolar disorder is very, very real, but so is the Power and Grace of God. Telling people with mental illnesses that they aren’t suffering from something real is extremely dangerous and ignorant. That said, there is no mental illness that can’t be overcome by the Power of God. And I’m living proof of that fact. That said, each has their own cross to bear, and some brothers or sisters in Christ might not have their illnesses defeated in the way mine was, but God will provide a way if you truly trust in Him. Because when you have a relationship with God, you find that everything you need, you already have in Him, even unto death. We aren’t promised anything from Jesus except Jesus, and he is enough. I pray for all of my brothers and sisters suffering from mental illnesses-put your trust in Him and ask that the peace and joy of the Holy Spirit may be with you, and look to the cross. It’s not always easy, but He will answer if you abide in Him and Him in you. God bless

    If what Pastor Matt preaches here is true, and it IS, then the people of God need to reject any and all ideologies of social justice (which is Marxist from it's root anyway), and pastors like Matt Chandler & Tim Keller need to say so.

    What does "laying down your fear and anxieties" mean? What do I actually need to do practically?

    • @lindseys7631
      @lindseys7631 6 лет назад +2

      Maybe you could write out your fears and anxieties and then confess them to the Lord. You could find Scripture to "counterattack" the fears and anxieties you're holding onto that are keeping you from trusting God. And memorize them, pray through them, ask God to help you believe them. And fight your fears with them! When you start to be afraid or worried, remind yourself, "This is what the Bible says.." and trust God's word.

    • @289dancer

    As a Christian we can never be without sin. Of course the Spirit in us will cause us to want righteousness but our Righteousness is not our own, IT IS OF JESUS CHRIST. We have to divide scripture and know which verses are for who and what... 2 Timothy 2:15King James Version (KJV)
    15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
    The other side to this is the Pauline Epistles that are clear on what Jesus meant by His GOOD NEWS. Galatians 2:16 ....Galatians 2:16King James Version (KJV)
    16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. And we also must look at Romans 3 as well when Paul makes it very clear, Romans 3:19 Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.
    20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
    21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;
    22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
    23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
    24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
    25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
    26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
    27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.
    28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

    What use is it, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but he has no works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is without clothing and in need of daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and be filled,” and yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that? Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead, being by itself. James 2:14-17

    You people who are bashing the KJV people posting here, you've missed the point. It's not the language. It's the missing things. The word blood has been removed. The name of Jesus has been removed. The Trinity has been removed. God's masculine identity has been removed. Verses about homosexuality have been removed. So many more things. So it's not the "thee's and thou's" that have been changed in the new versions, it's GOD that is being removed. If you're ok with that, then you better examine your own souls.

    I have no doubt that Mr Chandler is a good teacher and very inspiring but why is it we cannot break away from this idea that God gave one person the full ministry and left the rest as spectators. This is so not what the bible teaches. Listen to Matt's words at the very beginning of this video "The pastor that God placed over your life to shepherd and care for your soul"? Go to the video and listen to it before reading on. Matt is saying that God has placed a Pastor over your life and you should go with that, perhaps when you were a child in Christ but not now. God may have placed a shepherd to suckle me when I was a child but that was when I was a child. To assume that we all need pastors in perpetuity is the same as saying that a child must always need milk (sound familiar). When I was a child I acted like a child now I am a man I put childish ways behind me. To say a mature Christian requires a pastor is a Catholic mentality and heresy. Sure people when they are children need care but the idea is that they grow up and become adults. It is Satan that wants to keep adults behaving like some dependant needy child attached in some unholy way to a pastor. When will people break free from this One Pastor Sheep model. It is un-biblical (in the new covenant sense), for Christ is our Shepherd. The Holy Spirit leads us into all truth. There is no other mediator between man and God but Christ Jesus, our pastor. We have direct access to the Father each one of us, and are accountable to one another not the many to one. Grow up! The whole book of Hebrews is about growing up and the dangers of regressing. Leave behind the fundamentals and move on, grow up, just grow up!. Leave your father and cleave to Christ. We are a Royal priesthood. I do not need a priest other than the Lord Jesus, thank you. I certainly do not need a Pastor over me (shall I climb back into my mothers womb) and nowhere in scripture does it say that God wills this, that is the old covenant where there were certain parties set aside for priesthood, Christ did away with this it is us who are now the Priests now. All of us not one! Look at it this way, in Ephesians 4 God said So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. He did not say He would give one person the Job of evangelist, prophet, teacher, apostle and call that person the Pastor. Read the scripture again...Some he gave this, some he gave that. Some means some, more than one. More than one pastor, more than one apostle, more than one teacher, more than one evangelist and more than one prophet. These ministries are gifts from Christ to His Church, us. Many to many not one to many.

    • @lindseys7631
      @lindseys7631 6 лет назад +2

      Do you still think about this the way that you did a year ago?
      To me, it seems like you took one statement from Matt Chandler and twisted it around to mean something other than what he actually said. He never said that caring for our souls was the sole work of pastors or that we needed to confess our sins to our pastors or use them as mediators between us and God. I understood from the video introduction that he didn't want people to substitute listening to video sermons as "church." I understood that he was encouraging the listeners to use the sermon as a supplement, but to also be involved in community and fellowship and a local church, under the leadership of a pastor. Like you said in Ephesians 4, "Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors, and the teachers, to equip his people for works of service..." Having leaders isn't a bad thing. Pastors, as well as evangelists, prophets, and teachers, are supposed to equip people for works of service. That doesn't mean that the "flock" sits around and does nothing. They may listen to pastors or teachers or be under their leadership, but it's so they can be guided and equipped to grow. We all always need community. Jesus is the head over his body--the church. His people--all together, united & unified--make up the church. If we think we don't need any instruction or leadership and think that we can follow Jesus well on our own, we're deceived and confused. God is triune--Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Even God isn't alone. There is community in the trinity. Similarly, a healthy communion with the triune God will include community with other believers. We can't accurately show others who God is when we isolate ourselves. "Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples." (John 13:35)

      +Tim McCarthy He may have quoted Jesus. But he is failing to Simply explain the scriptures and Let the Lord speak. He speaks from Matt Chandler .
      The preaching simply is not expository in nature.
      Simple and humble exposition of Scripture allows the Lord to speak for himself.
      Do you understand?
      Non expository preaching is a man speaking from his own pride.
      No matter How sincere or charismatic he may be . It is usurpation of Gods own intention for getting through to people with His word in his own way. Not the preachers way.
      that said.
      I ask you.
      Being fully dependent on God means you would be willing to be thought a fool, and apposed by the whole world if need be ,for proclaiming the soon coming of Christ and the rapture of the Church and the Blessed Hope and all the eternal things that Jesus and Paul and all of the early Church believed and stressed.
      Did the Lords teaching ever take this kind of slant?A Sort of fixing of peoples temporal fleshly problems? Or focusing on peoples fears and anxiety? and the need for relief and comfort Now in this life and in this world?
      No.
      He spoke of the eternal things of Gods kingdom and salvation in eternal Life.
      The Coming Kingdom,
      The need to beleive the extraordinary things of God for they are shortly coming for us all.
      In natural death or the catching away of the Church.
      Jesus was not even willing to fight for this world and never even pushed for social changes.
      He didn't pray for the world but for his own.
      Puts all these groups and factions in perspective Doesn't it?
      Puts all the clamor of quick fixes in this throw away world or religious feelings focused on some emotional tonic to the flesh.
      The Message is Believe and repent.
      then break bread and promote kindness Love Joy happiness and purity and compassion and Holiness and Goodness.
      But never with religious hypocrisy.
      But always with such open armed Love that the brightness of your Love will cause those taken with hate to flee from you. and those who do love to simply return the kindness and all godliness and humble grace.
      Knowing full well that none are worthy and none are wise.
      we stand on His word alone.
      This guy is standing on something else.
      The Matt Chandler super star preacher extravaganza of emotional manipulation.
      But you wont hear much about Jesus or his ministry or his life.
      Nor the deep meanings of conversations He Had or things he did.
      Listen close. if your discerning you will know what im saying.
      or if your ears are being scratched by this guy than listen away.

      The KJV and NKJV is linguistically and grammatically more inaccurate than the ESV and NLT. Even these change. Every version must change some in order to keep with translation. Note: not change with culture, just with the common used language of the culture in which the scriptures are being translated into. The KJV wouldn't hold up so well in China, South Africa, Russia or any foreign country just simply because the scripture must be accurately translated for every current common language. and unfortunately KJV is way out of common knowledge to the average English speaking person.

    17 minutes in, I don't mind the message so much (although I wish there was more exposition of the Scripture and fewer anecdotes and jokes), but Chandler's delivery is giving me problems. It feels like he's trying to be the Dane Cook of pastors - popular, funny, animated, and energetic - not that he should be anything other than who he is, but I think a good pastor should bring an air of dignified reverence to his preaching. To me, Chandler comes across more as a motivational speaker than the mouthpiece of Almighty God.
    Jumping on stage, cracking some good jokes, and being demonstrative doesn't reach me like load-bearing truth that's aimed directly at my heart and designed to make me ask tough questions of myself. The best pastors hold a figurative mirror up, expose your evil by exposing the Scripture's goodness, and provide you with an opportunity for hope by revealing the righteousness of our God.

      ***** I think I understand what you're saying. You're right in that we shouldn't look for pastors who entertain us or keep our attention. We should look for pastors who give clear, direct lessons from the Bible with adult presentation.
      I just listened to 11-17 (minutes of this vid) again, and it's not as bad as I remembered. I guess the difference is in the contrast - I had just finished listening to theologians (Zacharias, Sproul, etc.), and they're a different animal. I was probably too hard on Chandler.
      What I still found is that the message isn't gripping my heart the same way it does from other men. Maybe Chandler is rushing too much and not giving the audience time to think. Maybe there's something in his voice that makes me question his authenticity.
      Like you said, maybe he's just not a good speaker. I suppose God didn't gift every pastor with the gift of effective speech.
      Summary: Chandler is clearly a better pastor than no pastor at all, but I would not listen to this sermon and say, "Finally, I've found my home church!" While the message should be enough and the Holy Spirit should be enough, I also don't think you should go to a church where you can't get past the pastor himself.

      Absolutely! Who uses stories and illustrations to convey Biblical truths? I can only think of a few guys and they were also in it for the fame. First of all, Jesus. "There was a farmer who had some seeds" or "There was a man with two sons," why couldn't Jesus just give us the truth without all the enlightening and culturally relevant stories. And don't get me started on Paul, he talked about our faith being like a race? Why try to draw illustrations and tell stories? So people can understand the point better? That's clearly not the goal of Jesus. How dare Matt Chandler use humor, stories, and charisma to relay the most important message ever. Who else did that? Jesus, Paul, John, Peter, Moses, David... All of them were clearly not true teachers of the word. Oh wait...
