Wohaaa. Chris from The Camera Store was shooting with F4 in their last video. not Ektachrome, but still :D
They produced a great vid, too.
win win, mutual respect
...and the former employer is producing...nothing.
It's great - the camera I always wanted (didn't get, I sold the old Nikon F kit and and bought into a Canon T90 outfit) reviewed by two of my favourite photo RUclipsrs in the same week.
I know, i'm like WUT.
I have been using the F4 as my main film body for the past 2 years and I could not be happier. Especially with the addition of the MB-23 multi-control back and a K-type focusing screen. It doesn't matter where or what my day of photography throws at me, because all the F4 does is give me answers to any problems I may come across. Most of the time I use mine for documentary photography in which I use both MF and AF lens. I have never had a major problem with the AF system on the F4, always seems to be spot on; especially when used in conjunction with the AF-L button. I could talk about it for a long while, so I will end it here.
Hot, cold, rain, snow, and not yet used as a blunt object the Nikon F4 does it all!
Accidentally met Kai in HK😂
Rita Law I want to get a selfie with him :(
I'd like to get a selfie with Rita... and I'm not even into selfies...
Was your camera a D4?
D5...The Law doesn't deal with old tech.
Rita Law's instagrams are excellent.
Lok's back!!
Leeway is the chinese guy ;)
Mayank Jairaj totally! Never seemed right to split those two....only need to get Alambi back then it will be the TRIO!
Kai ft. Lok, Kai, Rita, Ian, Warren
6:39
Mayank Jairaj so the new guy's name is Leeway? who is he?
when the old crew meet up the magic happens
Dennis Jones except for Warren.....
Nice to see everyone together again... Poor Rita.... Camera weighs more than she does...
Great Job!
I was hoping that Alamby walked by.. then it would have been Magical...
Kai, this is why we all hooked into you - wacky, witty, someone else doing the filming, on the street, and with a camera in your hand. Other gadget reviews are okay, but cameras do it.
AWWW LOK AND KAI REUNITED SO LOVELY
If you haven’t shot a few rolls of film with an F4, you’re missing out on one of the best film cameras ever made. The weight alone is like three or four digital cameras. It runs like silk. Can use every Nikon lens ever made.
Goosebumps! when Kai said Lok was filming this.. the feels from 2012!! hehe
Love Lok back filming. You guys really had a great thing going with Digital Rev. Not crazy about the vloggy self-shot stuff, better to have a filmer. Hope there is more of this type of thing.
Boy do I love this accent #speakingofwhich
@Graxxor Anandro Vidhelssen fink you’re right!..🤣😂💩🇬🇧
Li Wei
'Dicks out for this beast cause it is packing heat'. Amazing.
I LOLd at that too.
I had to rewind like hell to be sure I heard right 🤣
Kai is so much more vibrant when Lok is around!!
Ahh! The family is back!
Yeah man. I think we all needed this- It was awesome to see the group rekindling over some cool tech and some street photography. Well done! And thanks!
Kai, Lok, Rita and Warren... this is more DRTV than DRTV nowadays.
Really great to see all you guys together. Just need Alamby and Ian and we'll have ALL of the Warriors.

Dude, can I thank you? I love these videos. From the snarky, asshole insults on cameras, dissing them like an old friend, to giving me legitimate information. thank you, and you're camera person behind the scenes.
Awesome! Like being back to classic DR with Kai and Lok - bliss!
It's damn good to see all of you together again!
yeah :)
I love these reviews of older cameras. I wouldn't mind seeing more.
I had that camera! the f4 is built like a tank and is one most incredible film camera I ever had. it weights allot, but back then thing were made better then now. the picture quality from this camera is outstanding. I sold the f4 and regret it after. I guess I'll buy it again!
That group shot at the end made me smile with joy.
DAMNIT HOW ARE PEOPEL SO QUICK?!
I think I'm 10th again
I binged all your videos, man. SO GOOD. SOOOOOO GOOD. I learnt so much.
WazPieMuffin I m 26th
some are just sucker for Kai video. It's nice to see you all back together for a video.
hey warren it was good seeing you at 3:20 LUL
your last video was pretty good
I kept hoping to see Alamby. That would have made my day
setupandshoot I thought it was her at 2:57
She was in a lok video recently.
This is the content we'd love to see! and it's good to see the crew back together
It is amazing to see you guys together again!!!! Two wizards of photography! The world love you guys!!!!!
Nice review (Li-Wei would be proud), but: The Nikon F3 was already electronically controlled. The first metal vertical shutter was the Copal square back in the 1960's (about 27 years before the F4) and the grandfather of all pro SLR's is no doubt the Canon T90 from 1986.
Was going to say T90 too; that is where the uni-body began. Be fun for you to review that mid-80's trend setter.
There were three or four super inaccurate and Nikon-fanboy "facts", but whatever, from this point in time all these SLRs are dinosaurs and beautiful retro machines. The T-90 is underrated and indeed an actual "framework for every pro DSLR today".
Glad you've posted this, I had to go and check to see whether my EOS 620 from '87 had a vertical shutter haha!
also the 1985 Minolta 9000 was one of the first "modern" AF camera aimed at professionals (AF was available from some other brand before, just wasn't a good implementation and don't know if it was aimed at professionals). but the F4 is cool as well 😊
The T90 were designed after a study the german designer Luigi Colani made for Canon with, I believe, a 50 mm /1:095 lens. It´s fair to say that Colani is the father of all modern SLR design.
Glad to see the whole gang together. #ganggang
no alamby = not complete

Wow! Nostalgia!!! Reminds me of my Dad's old film camera from the 70's! Great look back at what photography was like before the digital age! Fantastic episode!
Hey quick question! I'm confused between RX10 III and G3X. We shoot car photography and videos, and there is already the RX100 IV in our equipment. Now, as RX10 III is twice the price of the G3X, I was wondering should I buy the RX10 III, or just stick with G3X.
The one you have with you.
It's very nice to see reviews like this these days. Not just crappy digital shit.
IT'S A RACE TO DO THE F5...
Great to see the team back together - have to say: it makes a difference.. : )
Looking forward to see more f words!
Thanks for this, it was really interesting. I am glad to see you and Lok are still active. You provide very interesting and thoughtful pieces that I enjoy.
"i think my brain is transitional" xD
Magic with Lok is amazing :) I like everything you put on this personal channel though ^.^ Feels you are free to do what you want
Now this is what we need to see more of. No more videos about silly smartphones and video tech thank you very much :-)
+TopGun904 ikr
Loved seeing you guys together again, and the video rocked! Awesome!
Seeing this video in my feed was a gift; new video featuring Lok, street photography and in film?? Dream come true. I Love my F3, and I'm not a huge fan of AF Film SLR's, yet you still managed to convince me that I want one.
Kai and ThecamerastoreTV both make a video about the Nikon F4 the same week.
A coincidence no? ;)
Kai, do a video with the original Canon EOS-1!!! or EOS 650 (30th anniversary) March 1987
Love your channel, your sense of humour is bang on. Keep up the epic work. Have a great day
Love this new film series! Can't wait to see more of them!
Shortly after TCSTV for Nikon F4 video!!!
Which bag is he wearing?
i loved this video. can't wait for the next!
Kai, you're the man. I love that You're going to be doing analog cameras (although you and Tokyo camera hunter murder the used market when you say good things about a camera) You've inspired me to be more active in my photography. thanks
So early quality isn't HD
ikr
I don't want to sound like a hipster piece of shit, but Prakticas had vertical metal shutters since the late 60s. My Praktica LTL, produced from 1970-75 has one, for example.
The Nikon F from 1959 had a metal (Ti) FP shutter
Make my Praktica BC1 looks like a modern hi-tech thingy :D
Bought that sucker for ~$7 with 3 lenses (28,50,135), flash and a bag of sorts. No idea what i even bought when i saw it :D
Not to mention the 1932 Zeiss Contax, pretty sure that's the first metal vertical F P sutter.
Kai and Lok should do a series of classic camera reviews, I could watch those forever. Great work.
Started in news photography in 1970 and owned an F4s from 1989 until I moved to digital in 2006. The F4S was the best photography tool ever produced for a news photographer ever. My backup camera was an FM2. I only went through 2 F4S bodies in 18 years. Some days I would shoot up to 50 rolls of film. It was a reliable beast and my estimate each year I would shoot maybe 300,000 images. So do the math on the shutter count.
It was the first camera where you could reliaby let it choose the right settings in P mode. I usually shot 400 asa film at 400/sec. In S mode this was set and forget. Autofocus was fast and reliable. IT was perfect for me. I used the bulletproof 28-70 2.8 and carried a 50 1.4 on the FM2. Yes it was heavy, but that and a bag of film was all I carried. The only digital Nikon I used after that was a D700. Thats was a great tool as well. The D3 was too big for me.
LOK IS FILMING?!?!
4:05 Epic moment. I want to see that facial expression in an endless loop.
This video made me go out and get an f4s, I got it imported from japan. Its my first film camera and I have a few rolls through it already and I love it. Film photography is my new hobby
You're filming with Lok!! So happy to see the corps back together again.
I almost cried when I saw Lok.
The F Word. So... Where's Gordon Ramsay? Ahahahah
It's like the good old days, but even better! ✌️
Just bought an F4s here in the states for $60, It looks well used, for sure, but works like new. I remember lusting after the F4 when it came out. I never honestly thought I'd own one.
If Kai had film from 1988 lying around (assuming it wasn't a joke), how old is the guy?
Danny B. He is 35
I missed the Hong Kong streets.
RCSantos i also , Hong Kong and very special place.
I own two F4s , one for real work and other just for canibalize parts if I need and I love it!!!!! Strong, heavy (as I like) and a formidable piece of engenering. Love it so much!
Lok and Kai united ^-^
No, the Canon T90 was the template for all future SLR, DSLR's.
"Lee Wei (Leeway) is a Chinese dude" 😂
Kai I loved this video.
The nostalgia of HK, the DR crew, and ye old camera was just spot on.
I've been taking street photography in Berlin and I picked this camera up can't wait to shoot thank you so much for your film
Thumbs up for the GTR @ 3:33
what brand is kai's backpack? looks cool
Oh shit awsome> Just got one. Been shooting an F3 for years. Been in the industry since 1974 . Adaapted to digital to survive but film is my love and passion . digital is my survival.
have to say this ; I love watching these videos you posted. Thank you for your contents
Am I missing something? The T90 preceded the 4 with a vertical shutter.
The first was actually the Copal square, in circa, 1960, about 27-28 years before the F4.
Then, there is the Zeiss Contax II, ca. 1934, and its clone, from the same parts, Kiev 4a. I remember the Copal square, but can't quite place a camera using it.
Well, the Contax II has brass metal slits (not overlaping steel blades like Nikon and Copal).
The Copal square was used in the Konica Auto Reflex series, the Nikkormats, Nikkorex, some Mamiya SLR's and more.
gmaildotcom I remember FM2 also has a vertical metal shutter.
Of course the FM2 had one, but we are referring to the world's first, which was in 1960 (the FM-2 was released in 1982, and the F4 in 1988).
Looks like good old DigitalRev
First TheCameraStoreTV and now Kai. Everyone loves the Nikon F4.
It's really great to see all of you together!
"Not much happened in 1988."
Well, what about Ayrton Senna winning his first F1 World Championship against Alain Prost, recovering from the 16th position to the 1st position in 27 laps?🤔
FernandoDaniel7 bro I am with you 100% as a massive senna fan but we are in unfamiliar waters here lol
Not first 😩😩😩
One of my favorite videos of yours.
Now this is the series I've been waiting for! I love you Kai for making the f word :3
FIRST
nikon is broke
One of the best videos in a long time. You and Lock make a great team.
Kai and Los back together again, all is right in the world.
wow those shots blew my mind. and its nice seeing the crew together!
glad to see you all back, guys!!
Great video & great photos.. I so happy to see you all again :))
Go Kai love your videos. Sooo entertaining!!!
I owned one of these for 15 years. Never let me down once. The matrix metering with Provia 100 slide film was the best. Matrix with -1/3 stop and it was just perfect.
My F4 is for Fujichrome while my M3 is for Tri-X. Life is good when you keep it simple.
So stoked about the film series! Keep it up man!
Loved seeing you and Lok together, loved that you're talking about film again and loved the beatles' remix :)
Honestly feels good to see you guys together again!!!!!
Love that you've started film related videos!
So nice to see your good old positivity on the streets of Hong Kong again! Hope more of these come out with the entire crew being part of it!
Having owned this camera, i can say one word: HEAVY.
Nice to see you and Lok collaborating again. Also, great piece on the F4
You guys are back together!!! Yaaaay!
Kai, I love your videos. I have an F4 and I use it a lot for street photography. Together with the TMAX 400 is a killer combination.
Glad to see you guys together! ^_^
so good to see a video with kai shot by lok! it's 2012 all over again
