Me gusta mucho ver a sus clases. Ellos son ambos informativos y divertidos. Just watched the one on adverbs, with the farm animals, tickled me pink.

This was an extremely useful lesson. Thanks. On a slightly different topic I am vegetarian as well, only a couple of pure vegetarian shops in Bolton, near Manchester . I do not think there are many vegetarian Spanish people verdad ? when I go to my house near Alicante, most people in Spain don't understand vegetarian, most still think I will be able to eat chicken or fish.

Dipak Valji Vey true. Normally, when you tell a Spanish person that you are vegetarian, they say, "Ahh, that's a shame. Are you ill?" hehe.

    hi guys!
could you explain how quisiera work? thinking about the difference in comparison to gustaria?
    love the lessons!!!

    • @LightSpeedSpanishChannel

Quisiera = I/He/She would want/like from querer= to want/ to love. Oftentimes translated as would like in English in sentences like quisiera un café = I'd like a coffee. In Spain we would tend to say "quería un café = I wanted a coffe". Gustaría needs to have a pronoun before (me gustaría, nos gustaría...): Me gustaría tomar un café= I'd like to have a coffee. Quisiera is also the verb querer in subjuntive mode: Si quisiera lo haría = if I/she/he wanted to do it, I/she/he would do it. Cynthia x.

Es correcto decir "Conditional tense"? No debería ser "Conditional mode"?

What about the conditional with "haber"???

I love your lessons, but I am a bit confused by this one. Conditional sentences are sentences with 'if'. (There isn't really a conditional tense as such in English-as I understand it anyway). For example: 'If I am hungry, I eat'. 'If I go to Spain, I will visit Barcelona'; 'If I were a bird, I would fly; 'If i had seen these videos a long time ago, I would now speak good Spanish' etc. I have never thought of a sentence such as 'I would like a beer' as being conditional. It's just a polite way of saying 'I want..'.
Hate to be pedantic. Only mention this because I find this confusing.

Hola Charlie. The conditional tense in English is the "WOULD" version of the verb. I would eat but...I would like that... The condition is that there is a reason, normally, why you don't do it. "I would exercise more, but I can't be bothered." That's the condition. If I were more motivated. The "If I were" part is not conditional. It is the Imperfect Subjunctive. It normally works hand in had with the conditional. We have vids on that in the subjunctive series on our website.

You stopped the "Yo que tu" 's just when it was getting interesting. I bet you'd really improve your youtube views with some Jerry Springer style chair fights. Haha. :D :D All the best.
