I live in the wild west.
My chore jacket easily conceals my large .45 caliber handgun and a Benchmade Infidel..
It also carries a good Leatherman, flashlight 🔦

I had to have a French one after reading about them in Chap magazine. Finally found one in French speaking Montreal. Only one store sold them, out of about 30 vintage stores I searched. Now I have to get a white T to contrast the dark indiglo blue.

I have the exact same jacket. It looks nice and it’s so shockingly soft.
I have another chore coat that’s made of corduroy from a different company that I think is even nicer. It’s in a deep brown. Good genre of jackets I think. Quite versatile like you said.

I've got a heavy canvas jacket in olive drab with a brown leather collar made by Timberland which has been my "chore jacket" while hauling and stacking firewood, shoveling snow, raking leaves, etc., for more than two decades now. -It wears like iron and looks remarkably good when dressed up with a green tartan Burberry cashmere scarf.

Living in Alberta, Canada i tend to lean a little more western of course.
My choice of a chore jacket is an oilskin. I have from a vest all the way to a duster.
I like the way they look, feel and of course preform. An added advantage is when they get dirty a quick wipe or even just hose it off and they look good as new!!
    Great video as always
    Cheers 🍻

I have a warm, dark blue DONKEY JACKET which I wear in autum/winter. It is really sturdy and rugged and made to last. It features the characteristic dark leather (or PVC patches) on the shoulders and on the elbows. It comes with quite a tradition as it can be traced back to the 19th century. As I have family ties with mining I find it quite appropriate to wear as a reminder of my own heritage.

In all seriousness, yes the donkey jacket is I must admit part of my familial heritage too...

Thanks for the tip Ash. I have just taken delivery of the tan version and am very impressed. It’s perfect for casual wear with some chinos. I would never have found this company without you. Keep up the good work!

Nice. Barn coat in the US. I've had a variety of them over the years. They frequently come in a buffalo plaid (RobRoy Plaid in the UK). Sometimes canvas, even wool. Sure keep you warm.

I have a lc king chore coat mostly for the warmer days usage. It’s been a great chore jacket and hope to get more wear out of it. I recently tried out the rail car chore coat. Pretty good construction and fabric but it more on the slim in the chest area for me at least. Still gonna keep it if I loose some weight. Yeah I like the chore coat especially in the 4 pocket with 1 flapped design, fit with my more casual style now of chinos and button downs.

Universal Works are probably the current UK masters of this kind of thing. They do various iterations of the chore jacket, their Baker's Jacket appears every season in a multitude of fabrics. They're great at casual shirts too. If you want to go French, Bleu De Paname are hard to beat.

I have their Weston Field Jacket for nearly 3 years now. Great if you love pockets. I think I've found 12 but there might be more. It's a great jacket but a couple of things I would change about it. The sleeve length could be 1-2cm longer, and the press studs are a bit weak. Worn it a lot and due to so many pockets you can pack an overnight "lads night in London" amount of gear in it. My other fave jacket is a Mil-Tec M65 army jacket that every guy should have. Perfect deep pockets for holding your pint glass at a beer festival. Also has a thermal lining you can remove to extend its annual use pattern. But never pay huge amounts for a 'fashion' one. Look around.

ah yes, i love this jacket, i bought the tan version which looks great with a shirt (or a green plain top underneath) and i like to have the collar half up too...
i bought the tan one as i have a green duffy combat jacket (tho, had it some years), but i also bought the green carver jacket too to replace it.. and i love wearing them!

A great review. The jacket appears both stylish and practical. My own workwear consists of Carhartt Detroit jacket, Wranglers and William Lennon boots. The Detroit a USA classic with rugged canvas, blanket lining and brass hardware. To be fair I still do not look like Kevin Costner. Maybe the And Sons Chore in blue might give me some Monty Don style on the allotment and during garden show visits?

Ash, being a weightlifter who benches around 375 pounds for repetitions, I was inspired by the protagonist in the “Jack Reacher” drama to buy a Carhartt and see how it’d look on my muscular yet less-than slender frame; it’s so hard to find good dietitians nowadays, you see. Anyway, it doesn’t hide the double chin, but I’m happy to report they’re worth every shilling!

Hi Ash. Nice jacket. Out of curiosity, although not sponsored by "& Sons" did they give the jacket to you or discount? Seems like they should have contributed at least something for such a comprehensive review to your many thousands of followers.

I actually reached out to them and asked for a sample the jacket and they obliged. It is actually a case of reverse sponsorship - I begged them to be allowed to try an example of the Carver.
