Turned out mighty fine ya'll. Head'n on down to see what Jesse's up to. Need'n me a fix'n of the ol shine. Hyug yuk yuk. Can't find Daisey's Jeep either. Cheer's JV
Great restoration of some iconic tv cars. St the end of last year I found most of the cars from that set for $1 each at the thrift store and the General Lee is in pretty good shape.
Thank you. Did you find Cooter's Truck? That's the one that eludes me down here, it's a terrible model that looks nothing like it does in the show, but you know, completeness an' all 😔😂
Great work. Despite the roughness of the casting, I still think this is the best proportioned Charger out there at the original price point. My Daisy Duke Jeep has jumped a few places up the list to get done.
I think you're right Andrew, the newer Hot Wheels casting might be more 'accurate' but for some reason, despite it's many flaws, the Ertl one just looks better as the General.
Hi PB, International viewer here👍 because you're talented at transforming these castings and because of where you live it would be great if you could use your skills to build a Road train truck I don't think I've ever seen one built before. Just watching on youtube your Country has some outstanding riggs. Fun but difficult project ? You have the talent and brains. Regards.
Hi Steve! The only big rig I've done was the Snowman's Kenny and trailer from Smokey and the Bandit, and that was in a 1/24 plastic kit. There is a supplier here in Australia that makes all the doo-dads and decals to build Road Trains, but again it's in 1/24 scale. It's something I'd like to have a go at in a smaller scale, my Grandfather and his brothers and newphews were all in trucking at various times. My Uncle Phil was a big rig mentalist and I inherited all his books on the subject, so I've really got no excuse not to give it a go one day with all the reference material I have. I sometimes post pictures of Grandads trucks on my facebook page. Sorry for the long reply! What part of the world are you in?
@@PBsRetroRestorations HI PB! I'm over here in the north of England not far from Manchester. Truck driver here, so I have a big intrest in all things trucks. I do restore but certainly not to your standard and now I'm getting a nice collection together, mainly Matchbox Lesney. I think the nearest casting matchbox did to a Road train was from it's major pack and that was the Cooper jarrett and that had two trailers , I need to restore one back to original condition and do a custom one in a different livery. Thanks for taking the time to respond I appreciate it, naturally I'll carry on viewing and keep giving the thumbs up. Regards.
Yes, I enjoyed that very much, thank you PB......The General Lee looks particularly sharp 👏🏻👍🏻👌🏻 I think the colour's fine, too; colours are better if they're adapted to scale, specific sublects especially....... Gawd knows how many cars they wrecked with all those jumps. It's wicked, really but it was a fun show. They don't make 'em like that any more!
Thank You. I believe the number is in the hundreds and at some stage they started using scale models, but you know they were just a 10 year old second hand car you couldn't give away at the time, and the benefit of hindsight is a wonderful thing. They'll never make shows like that ever again, which is a shame.
Don't worry about those wrecked cars. Chrysler was stamping out body panels for the show. The panels were applied to modified Cadillac chassis. They didnt' destroy nearly as many chargers as people think.
Wow Peter! You were really givn'er doing two restos at one time. They both turned out great. Anyone would love to have either in their collection. I must be honest, the Daisy Duke Jeep is a little plain looking.
Thank you again Gerry for the Jeep. It is plain, I refused to believe it wasn't supposed to have a roll bar or steering wheel, but all the evidence says that's the case.
There is a way to create Uncle Jessie's pick-up! Start out with a Matchbox "Wildlife" Ford Pick-up, use the Ertl wheel set, strip the yellow paint off the old Matchbox. It can work
looking great, despite the flaws. :) great work! ^^ the jeep seems to be especially disproportioned. as you say, cheaply made, sold easily. and kids tend not to mind... early SIKU weren't perfect, either, the die-casts later had bad proportions, too big wheels, or maybe taillights missing... people still bought them. :)
Agreed, the reality is that most of the Ertl castings are terrible when you look at them with adult eyes, but boy oh boy when I was a kid I would've done anything to have any of them. Majorettes too, some of the wheel / body proportions are terrible, but then again the target market doesn't / didn't care.
@@PBsRetroRestorations Majorettes not as often as SIKU, but still. as for their overly wide wheels, someone once commented that Majorette had plans with a raceway after hot wheels, so their wheels would keep the cars from scraping against the railing. but I've never seen such a raceway, so maybe they cancelled it after all.
Hi! I use oven cleaner sprayed into a ziplock bag, drop the parts in, seal it up and leave it a few hours, overnight it you can. BE SURE to use a mask and work in a well ventilated area as it's nasty stuff. It'll strip chrome off plastic too if need be, and it can be washed clean with soapy water. Thanks for watching, hope that helps.
Thanks Graham. That my friend is Molotow Liquid Chrome pen refill, it is the absolute best chrome paint. For whatever reason I have never had a problem with it like I have done with the pens. Only downer is it is literally $50, which does last for ages, but it's one luxury I indulge myself in because I haven't come across anything else like it.
@@PBsRetroRestorations I saw on video of a guy restoring a ride and he try nail polish top coat with a Chrome U rub into it while it half dry, look good
Hi Jay! Thank you for confirming, I figured that had to be the case what with the holes there but I'm not an Ertl expert. Thanks for watching and taking the time to pass that on.
That gave me a quiver in my liver,as Rosco would say,any hoo have you Boss Hogs Caddy ? Or Cooters truck ? Which seems to be the same as the fall guys,Ertl made loads of stuff Knight Rider A team and mega rare Air wolf helicopter, any way that was great 😀 I do have a spare fall guy truck here if yoy want It 😄
Thank You Mark. I have the Boss Hogg Caddy, but not Cooter's Truck, it's the hardest to find of the five. I >think< I have an A Team van somewhere, but not the Fall Guy Truck and that's very kind of you to offer but I've got so many potential projects I don't know when I would get to it.

Thanks JV, the Jeep and Cooter's truck are by far and away the hardest to find. I've never seen the truck in the flesh.
What a great result, feeling inspired to start work on my Dukes collection 😊
I'll let Mrs. PB know that I'm an inspiration and see what face she pulls lol, thank Howard.
Turned out great PB! You still have the magic.
🤣Thanks Scott, I'm glad you think so, I'll let Mrs. PB know 🤣
One of my favorite TV shows

@@PBsRetroRestorations the Hotwheels ones annoy me because of the larger rear wheels that distort the wheel arch shape.
Great job!!! They do look odd with no steering wheels but hey like you said. Cheaply made for the kiddos

Nice restorations, details and paint jobs 👌 👍
Thank you Joe.
Awesome restoration work as always my brother
Thank You Susilo!
nicely done, the cards look great I had the set as a kid except for daisy's jeep, played with and destroyed them well!
