I really appreciate you taking the time to make and share these videos. I’m getting back on a dirt bike after 40 years. Been riding 3 and 4 wheelers. I felt like a kid riding his bicycle for the first time without training wheels. Dang skinny tires. I wobbled all over the place..lmao it was a Humbling experience. Plus I’m breaking in a new pair of motocross boots. Had no feeling for the pegs, shifter and the rear brake pedal. Thought what the heck am I doing this for? Just don’t have the confidence yet .I built a YZ 125 to learn on and relive the smells and sounds of my youth. So I looked at a lot of your videos and lessons and starting slow. Luckily I have my own land to practice on. So it’s slow and steady with practice drills. My goal next year is to take your classes. Will join your online classes once I get to where I can just ride confidently controlling the bike. Thanks you Sir for sharing your knowledge and passion.
I agree with you about the 4x max attempt. It starts to get in my head if I haven't committed by 3-4 and my confidence isn't there and hesitation can make things get sketchy real quick. Some days I feel it and some I don't. Great vid AJ.
This is what I like about watching hyoid training. You meet people where they are and give them tools to make them better as they develop. Not just demanding they hit that jump today
no other channel like it great job , you have this niche in your pocket no one can come close to your teaching ability. It's funny because i am seeing more channels trying to do what you do and it is not working for them. keep it up AJ
@@ccorbin18 love too, i am still going to join the patreon as well, i keep saying that i will I just keep forgetting too, really I am going to join AJ!! i have said that for a month now and i'm sure he is like "sure, bud, sure your are"! haha. I really am going to AJ not just fibbing here
You have made another great video on how to do things correctly. If you're going to take a risk, you need to educate yourself on how to do it correctly. I have made those mistakes plenty of times by not being smooth on the power. I really love the mental part of ridding. Thanks for making the sport safer with your tips! Your video when you were riding the track and jumping with your hand only on the throttle, demonstrated that the next level of true control, that keeps coming back to me.
This is one of the better jump vids. I think it would be helpful for many many riders to explain a little more about the feel of the bike as you load into a jump face. Experienced riders know if they are endoing or looping out before they ever leave the jump face. You should be able to feel the bike's pitch as you load into the jump, and be able to adjust BEFORE you leave the face. The first step is to be aware of how the bike feels loading into the face. You have to pay attention to how the bike feels as you load into the face.
I feel you I haven’t stopped moving since I was sick in the beginning of December. Too much to do to keep this school running. On a positive note I have been riding every day since the beginning of January. Thanks for the video on Jumping it’s something that I’ve really been working. It snowed in VA this morning so I’m going to go play in the snow.
Now all you need is a veridesk, it's a hight adjustable desk because sitting is the new smoking. I run a crane for a living, I thought that would make for a great career. Wish AJ was around when I was racing.
Would be nice to watch an autobiographic video about your career. Thanks again for all what you give to the sport. Great rider and greater person! God bless you AJ 😀
Hhaha when I watch the vids it reminds me so much of getting in a new guys car and racing or drifting it really fast then giving him back the keys and say "like that" haha good stuff as always AJ
One thing AJ said is really the key , if you’re going to send it, you must must commit to the speed well in advance to hitting the face. (And if you don’t have the speed when you get to the face, time to use the brakes and roll it )
Aj awesome video, I really need to get on a track and hit some jumps . Never rode a track always jumped natural features some you get some good air but nothing like a track provides
Well I've been going to this one track with a big table jump and never cleared it. I will try to land it level/nose first and see how that feels maybe it will give me confidence to jump it a bit further.
Ok, I was trying to absorb jumps today ... It seemed like I was jumping downward on the pegs or at least really weighting the pegs heavily downward as the front tire was clearing the lip ... Would this we 'over-kill' to keeping the bike low going over jumps? -- At the 3:13 point when you are describing this technique, you seem to indicate to move your weight towards the rear of the bike when absorbing ....
Oof. Landing on the knuckle. Never fun. Always cool to see different levels. I think people often eith forget or don't appreciate what riding is. I always compare TO MMA. There are levels to it. And it's harder than it looks. Too often guys, me being one of them, think they can go out there and do it. Specially, like also me, if they come from a similar sport like BMX racing. But it's a whole different thing. A wrestler coming into MMA can only do so much before he or she is going to get knocked out or submitted. A ex-bmx racer may have some better understanding about body position and balance. But on the bike it's only a matter of time before something goes wrong. And when it does you'll probably not know why.
Ive also never caught air before, never even got to go to a track. All woods and powerline riding for me. This spring im renting a track for a few hours so I can practice getting some air. I just dont feel comfortable going to a track when all these people will be flying by me. :(
Thanks Aj for all your video, it a pleasure. If you come in Italy for holiday, I want to invite you to Dorno mx track, half an hour to Milan, rent bike and have fun in one of the best sand track in Italy.
Hey aj I sometimes have issue getting on throttle hard when I land, I know to do it because you have taught me but it’s like my hand doesn’t listen to my brain sometimes any tip?
@@wrmhlmusic631 you right lol. I swear I try and do land on gas a lot of the times but I also have times where I realize after I land that I didn’t get right on the gas
@@Tyler.56 yeah i sometimes have the same issue, just a matter of getting used to it i guess. Maybe after a few hard hitting landings, your brain will tell you to get on the gas instinctly.

Could suspension setup make it ever unsafe to jump? Like not properly set for weight or sag isn’t set

When you chop the throttle right before takeoff, do you pull in the clutch?
Love the vids keep it up
Great video. Will be subscribing very soon
How do you approach a jump similar to this but with a bigger dip in the middle and a corner straight after, so you cant over jump and you cant case?
It is a struggle to use the clutch in the air. What is the trick to be able to use the clutch and be able to brake tap?
