Hit Me With Your Autistic is the debut stand-up special from award-winning autistic comedian Mark Grimshaw, a "sure crowd-pleaser" (Chortle) with a "wickedly subversive" "very dark sense of humour" (Harrogate Advertiser). The Great Yorkshire Fringe New Comedian of The Year 2018 brings their "topical, insightful and just plain funny" (York Press) show to RUclips. It's a show about autism, unless that doesn't seem interesting to you, in which case it's a show filled with "jokes [that] come thick and fast" (Neurodiverse Review) about things that are not autism.
Hit Me With Your Autistic was nominated for the Autistic Excellence Award at the Neurodiverse Review Awards during the 2022 Edinburgh Fringe, and Mark's stand-up has had millions of views on TikTok (which isn't really that impressive since an algorithm is responsible for that rather than actual talent, but PR people insist this is something worth mentioning in promotional material anyway, so here we are). As seen on Joe.co.uk and StephenTries, as heard on BBC Radio Newcastle.
"Your video isn't buffering; that's just my face," sent me 😂😂
Lost my shit at, "going to start" and you calling yourself out. 100% me when infodumping at someone 😂😅
This is absolute peak humour why do we even bother listening to neurotypicals (/genuine)
Because they get sad otherwise? They do the face too. 😕
Because, alas, they designed civilization, and being neurotypicals, they designed it to work for them alone. Not out of malice, but because they're fucking insane, and _don't even logic._ I mean, what kind of crazy sociopath conceived of rhetorical questions!? That's a question...that isn't meant to be answered! Why does it even exist? It's just a statement that rises in pitch at the end! Madness!
On the other hand, we dominate all the technology and science fields, so swings and sledgehammers.
We also have the market cornered on sorting objects by type, so there's that!
(/serious but clothed in humour)
You mean normal people?
Peak humour? You must be that single relative with the loudest laugh prevalent in this video
Agreed. I know, right?
Thank you for posting a segment of this on Reddit. Perfect ending to my day
That's how i found it too!
Also how I found this.
Me too 😅
lmao at the bits just specifically calling out the people watching online
also about 49:00; sometimes you can be a "lucky cunt" too if you just show em your autism diagnosis lmao
This was SO GOOD. I hope to see more of your work!
The current wave of standup comedy by and for autistic people is giving me life right now.
Tbf theres nothing more a Rail Fan loves more than moaning about the state of the service. Lol.
This special is amazing.
I can confirm I did make it to the end, but because I have ADHD i watched it in quite a few chunks 😂
Honestly, your humour hits the right spots and is pretty relatable
Got here from your post on Reddit. Great Show! Glad I didn't f**k off 40 minutes ago. :)
Whoever is laughing that hard is making it difficult to listen 😂
Hysterical. Thank you!
I have never subscribed to anyone so fast!
I'm trans and I found you through twitter talking shit about JK Rowling, and I just really wanted to say it is genuinely relieving to see comedy that isn't transphobic. Shouldn't be such a rare thing these days, but it honestly made me realize I actually really enjoy comedy when it doesn't rely on punching down at oppressed groups as if that is the pinnacle of comedy. There is soooo much good material to be explored, instead of the same cringe and boring 1 joke transphobes make over and over again.
Like that bit you slipped in about "attack" being just one of the genders a helicopter has?? That shit was so funny and I can't believe I never thought of that before!! Meanwhile, there are so many comedians right now that basically just say "pronouns, am i right?" for 2 hours as humor... boring as hell lmao
Anyway yeah, sorry for rambling but, well, my adhd brain always does this anyway. Thanks for the laughs and hope you have a nice day :)
James Acaster is another ally. He did a stand up bit about Ricky Gervais.
@@tessybourne I've seen that bit before! It was great :)
So, you hate women?
You should team up with Hannah Gadsby.
Your delivery and style are really well-crafted, Mark, there’s no need to leave that disclaimer in the beginning. Fabulous work. Really funny.
When did you Transition?
Why are you lying to him? Is it like when people tell transwomen they look cute?
@@carollockyer1855 Rachael Dratch is a cisgender heterosexual woman.
God this is good and just a disturbing level of relatable 😂😂
I also loved lockdown. Social distancing? Hell yeah!
Government: "We're enforcing social distancing to deal with the pandemic, this means people need to stay at home and avoid leaving it at all costs for any thing that isn't the most basic necessities."
Me: "FINALLY! MY TIME HAS COME! I WAS BORN FOR THIS DAY!"
Awesome ❤
Nice one! Much shared experience; but jeeper's that woman's laugh, could only do it in 5 min segments due to that.
Well you appear to be a whole group of woman hating basement dwellers so there is that.
Hey, mate! This is hilarious. Might one day even encourage me to start doing stand up too!
This is hilarious
Thank you very much!
Also autistic here, and i have an interesting question because it relates to me. Everyone who is autistic that I've met are bi including me. Is that just like normal?
I know multiple that aren't. But my theory is that because we don't mind breaking social norms, we are more likely to find out that we like more than one gender, instead of neatly packing that part of ourselves away because it isn't "normal" without even realising it.
It's not your imagination. The percentage of autists on the LGBTQ spectrum is statistically higher than for neurotypicals.
How repulsive. We don't want to know about the sexual preferences of people who shouldn't be anywhere near the subject. In any way.
@stellateddy4078 bro i think you need mental help☠️☠️☠️
This had me cackling throughout! Do you have any more gigs coming up?
I’m currently on an extended hiatus, no idea how long it’ll be for (potentially forever), but I’ll post something on here should I start gigging again!
Rest from comedy is as valid as rest from any other work! I'll keep an eye out, but for now I'll watch whatever you've put out already. :)
Thanks for doing this special and putting it for free on RUclips. Even if you never do another comedy thing again one of my special interests is comedy and we need more sets out in the world talking about autism. I think comedy is a great way to help destigmatize autism and even if you never make another special I appreciate that you put this out into the world ♥️
P.S. as soon as you said the joke about not reading comments I had to go to the comments and check and of course there's a bunch of comments hearted and this reply 😋
I've been looking for good Autistic humour, and this was quite enjoyable. Good show!
Thanks for watching, really glad you enjoyed it!
@@MarkGrimshaw You're welcome, it's hard to find humour about us that isn't othering.
Oh! sorry for commenting so many times lol, but I just remembered I wanted to ask something! I don't know if you will see this, but I have family members I want to share this with who have audio processing issues, and they require captions to understand the audio in videos... I realize it takes effort and time to produce, but captions are a great and important way to ensure many different disabled people can access media. If you ever added captions to this video, I'd love to share this with the people I know who could use it! Hope it was ok to ask just in case.
Honestly, I’d got halfway through correcting the auto-captions a while ago, went away for a couple of weeks and completely forgot to come back and finish them. Will get them sorted ASAP!
@@MarkGrimshaw I understand, and I really appreciate that!! Wishing you all the best and thank you :)
the intro is so good thank you for including we who do not wish to be perceived!
agreed! the censored pixels over that person's face was a great touch :P
Noooooo, don't hit me with your autistic, I'm already overflowing with autism due to being born this way, plus the extra autism software update from the covid vaccine. If I'm hit with even more autistic, I might not know what to do with all of that autism.
the encore lmfao i love it
The hat bit made me lose it
You're absolutely hilarious! Too good for Netflix in my opinion.
Literally just came across your videos and have not stopped laughing and have shared your videos with all my friends. Like me they’re all neurodivergent and on the spectrum it’s great to see someone who represents us. Thank you so much ❤
You thought that was funny?
Damn, great line delivery and great material. Way to raise the bar for the rest of us autistic people with autism.
I came for the trans rights, stayed for the punchlines
Really relatably funner. But man that woman's laugh😢
I mean, from a personal perspective, I’m just glad they were laughing!
It's so good to see this video do well
This is hilarious and so relateable
Although is there any way you can reduce the volume of the laughing so its level with your voice?
Unfortunately, I can’t, I’m afraid. All of the audio was recorded through one microphone, the one I’m wearing, and I simply don’t have the technical know-how to work out how they could be separated into separate tracks and one reduced in volume.
I found it soooo relatable. I'm not funny either.
great banter mate keep it coming
I came to the comments for the poll.... 👀👨
Woooo! Halloween Horror Nights!
I’m so glad someone has finally acknowledged that hoodie. HHN is very much my current hyperfixation, had to have it represented in the special.
@@MarkGrimshaw You able to visit this year?
Just got back from Orlando, managed to do six nights at HHN this year!
Amazing set, I loved it!
I've seen pieces on Twitter but now I finally went and watched the whole thing. Definitely worth the time, it was really funny :D
I heard “Hit me with your butter stick” in the opening jingle. Like a short, yellow, nightstick? Or some guy running around a room hitting everyone with his flaccid junk. Thankfully in all our big brained evolution, we haven’t gotten rid of the fucking rewind button like the headphone jack in an iPhone. That was a dick move on Apple’s part. - To answer your question, yes I am.
Great set, Mark. Well done!
Thank you very much for watching, really pleased you enjoyed it!
@@MarkGrimshaw You do read the comments!
Found you through the recent Lineham stuff and glad I did ! Hilarious , self aware , fantastic delivery and fresh ideas
Glaswegian n just found your stuff on Reddit there! Sad I missed the gig hoping to catch you in the future
Super funny 🤣 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
❤
Well done, Mark!
Really enjoyed this. Had me howling with laughter. 😂
I award you 5 stars (but the Kremlin gets 6)
Very funny, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Nice.
Love this Mark! Have shared with friends.
That one woman who is cracking up 😂😂
Thanks for watching and sharing, really appreciate it!
@@Bex7t6His mum.
This is amazing.
Great show!
found this on reddit not disaapointed
Commenting for the algorithm!
One person laughed
"i wouldn´t be able to look them in the eye."
This is the funniest shit I’ve ever heard
Excellent Special. ❤
fkn hilarious 😂
This was wonderful!
When you find some good, relatable autistic comedy.
Here from your tweet.
You sound very jealous of Ricky are you ok do you need a hug. 😂😂
Man that one audience member laughed so loud. Sorry she caused such a problem but good set.
If you had a genuine friend in the world, they'd tell you never to do this again.
hilarious. very glad i came across this guy, i'm so sick of NT "humor"
Charity comedy sucks
deeply unfunny
Not remotely funny but very bizarre that you're reading a script. Odd
A lot of standups refer to written material, especially when first getting started.
If you have to beg by using Ko-fi I suggest you have no future in comedy.
That was the most awkward, cringe thing i've ever seen.
Then you’ve lived a very sheltered existence.
You've lived a life of people being kind and not being honest about how very unfunny you are.@@MarkGrimshaw
Absolutely terrible. Not funny
Not funny AH
“Not funny, Absolutely Hilarious!”? Thank you very much!
I've died of cringe. So, so much cringe here.
Good riddance.
God, these people are awful at comedy.
You aren't funny.
