I've read that the reason people with ADD/ADHD answer your bad news with an anecdote of their own is that they are conveying to you that they empathize and understand what you're going through. As someone with ADHD for over 50 years, I can confirm that - at least in some cases - that is true. I'm not trying to "one-up" you, I'm trying to communicate that you're not alone. So, the next time a friend whom you suspect is attention deficit and/or hyperactive does this to you, please understand it's your friend's way of hugging you and guiding you through what's happening.
This is me. I've legitimately tried to stop, but I'm always talking about a similar experience I've had when someone shares with me. I'm just trying to show I relate to the emotions in the scenario and im listening to you. I trrrrryyyyy so hard not to do it.
I think there is a difference between trying to relate vs someone who legit is trying to tell you your pain isn’t as bad as this or that(which has happened to me multiple times with toxic people.) and some people totally understand me when I am trying to relate (key with it is to truly express emotion when they share their experiences ) and try to make a note for future in your head to be sensitive about it with them. But some people don’t want to hear anything about you they just need someone to listen.. and that can be very challenging.
I have ALWAYS done this and I always feel so bad, I've actively tried to stop doing it but once I remember that that's something I'm trying I'm already well into my empathy story
Overall this is a great lineup! I know it's just a joke, but I hugely disagree with the person who said you can't have ADHD and depression. A lot of us (esp those who were diagnosed later in life) went through a significant amount of depression and anxiety along the way. It's super demoralizing and crushes your self esteem when you struggle with things that seem so easy to everyone else. You feel like a massive failure and it's hard not to internalize it. Also hard when you spend your whole life masking and realize you have no idea who you are.
@@punkinhoot good thing someone thought of making paper from trees, it allows oneself to write important things down for a reminder. This is a tool that EVERYONE can use, seeing as though forgetfulness is a pretty basic human condition.
Well put Michelle! I’ve always been really good at hard complex things but I really struggle with basic and simple things. I’m still trying to figure things out.
Some things that need to be corrected: The Hyperactivity (H) in ADHD stands not for a physically hyper-ness in a person, but rather a hyper-impulsive mind. Meaning I’m more likely to act on my impulses and have a lot of them. Attention Deficit (AD) is another issue in the name. We do not suffer from a lack of attention, but rather a heightened attentiveness to everything around us. Our brain doesn’t end up observing the boring stuff like math or the boss’ vacation story. Sometimes our brain picks and chooses what it wants to hear leading to memory issues and learning disabilities. Also, depression is more often than not comorbid(simultaneously present), because people with ADHD have a very low serotonin levels. We are more prone to being addicted to substances and foods and activities that spike our happiness chemical (certain drugs/chocolate/hyper fixation hobbies), and are more susceptible to nicotine and caffeine addiction because the stimulant has the same soothing effects as adderall and Ritalin. (Also, unrelated but equally important, just because you’re organized doesn’t mean you have OCD. Obsessive-compulsive disorder refers to having an obsessive *thought* and a compulsive *action* associated with the though. (i.e. thought: “if you don’t check the stove now your house will burn down”, action: checks the stove. Thought: “hey I know you think you checked the stove but do it again or you’ll die”, action: checks stove again. Repeat.))
I’ve been diagnosed with ADHD for over 20 years and literally just found out about executive dysfunction as a symptom. Which is crazy, because it made so many things make so much more sense. And yeah, people thinking the “hyperactivity” part of it just meaning physical is a PITA, I WISH it worked that way, instead of my thoughts just going too fast for my brain to organize.
Tell people you have a neurological condition that affects every aspect of your life and makes you feel ashamed and worthless and watch them get worried and then tell them it's adhd and see how fast they start laughing. Some of these were funny, I'm not saying you can't laugh about it; it's a difficult thing to live with and comedy is a great way to cope. But we aren't... We aren't clowns. We don't literally chase squirrels and butterflies and we certainly get depressed.
Yeah watching this I was just thinking "we're not stupid... why are these men* making us look like total idiots?" We do think. We think ALL THE TIME. Our minds are tornados of thoughts that our brains can't organize.
Everybody's experience is different with this condition. Just because I feel like a failure all the time doesn't mean that someone else with the same condition can have a completely different experience with it due to nature, nurture and circumstance. I cannot expect the world to always take me into consideration. When I feel a way and tell people how I feel about how ADHD affects my life, I don't say:'but then again; a lot of people with ADHD are perfectly happy'. Because I am talking about MY experience and people should not expect that I take their experiences into consideration over mine to make them feel heard. A mistake I used to make in my life, expecting people to do the same for me. 🤣. So now I think; I'll take care of my needs, first. That way I stay 'strong' and create enough space in my head to be able to cater to others needs without neglecting my own.
I have a real issue with Claude Stewart's routine, because this idea is part of what can prevent women (like me) from getting diagnosed with ADHD. Depression and ADHD often co-occur.
Are you adhd or add. Girls are frequently under diagnosed because they lack the hyperactivity. I have a theory the depression occurs due to having to deal with the daily stress caused by the add. Particularly work related stress. That was me. Now retired, l get to happily muddle my way through my disorganization🥴
@@missg.5940 Yes, I got diagnosed (with inattentive type) 3 years ago when I was 27. I got depressed and on and off for a long time before my diagnosis. The depression and anxiety was obvious, but the ADHD was not. As soon as the ADHD got identified and I started taking meds, depression became less of an issue. The whole jumping around monkey-like behavior of his set is so misinforming. I didn't find it funny at all.
As someone diagnosed with ADD you can absolutely also be depressed at the same time. Coming from someone who's also been diagnosed with severe depression.
I would, but hubby and I both have ADHD, and so do all 3 of the kids.. The worst thing is trying to parent with ADHD and forgetting why you're telling your kids off, halfway through because you got distracted 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
I wasn't diagnosed with bipolar, ADHD and other things, until my early 30's...Twenty years later and I'm still learning how these things affect me. At least now I'm more aware of how best to nurture myself and my relationships. Thank-you to whomever brought us this line up!
3:34 This sadly is actually the opposite. Co-morbidity with ADHD and mental illnesses like depression and anxiety is high. What he fails to mention is the crack head determination they call "hyperfocus", which means that yeah, you absolutely can wallow in depression indefinitely. For a lot of people ADHD isn't just inability to focus, it's executive function as a whole.
Quit looking for comedy shows to validate anything. It’s comedy, not Dr. Phil. If they had a calling to help people in that capacity, that’s probably what they would be doing, but their job is to make people think or laugh, not to dispense deep wisdom or medical diagnoses.
@@JaxLittles , Rural/suburban Texas, and this was far from "the school's" advice. The teacher only felt comfortable being so candid because he and my dad knew each other. There is what people think, and what they are willing to say. It was actually a very good school overall. And as far as comparing Texas to other places like California, I went to three different college/universities in Texas and never felt like I needed to be careful what I said in order to keep from getting in trouble or to appease the prof. I just had to be able to back up any assertions. Classes were full of open, respectful, and diverse debate, and people were able to hold open-air debates on very controversial issues. For instance, I minored in Religious Studies (ie. Religions in general, not Christianity) and I shared classes with Hindu, Shia Islam, Jewish, Catholic, Asatru Pagan, and literal card-carrying Marxist atheist students. We had great and always very respectful and open discussions. I finished in 2014. I don't know what those same schools are like these days, but I'd be willing to bet they're still better than most concerning the free and respectful exchange of ideas. My comment was about individuals, not places.
Check out autistic info. When I learned my neice was autistic I looked into it. A lot of the coping techniques are the same I was taught as an ADD child. The refresher course was helpful.
Anyone else here appreciate the irony of listening to 25 different comedians in the span of 25 minutes 😂. As an adult diagnosed later in life, I can relate to the depression and struggles we who have the ah-deet-ah-tees face. I was apologizing to my middle daughter for giving her the ADHD gene, and she answered “I consider it to be a superpower” ❤
Psychedelics are just an exceptional mental health breakthrough. It's quite fascinating how effective they are against depression and anxiety. Saved my life.
Can you help with the reliable source I would really appreciate it. Many people talk about mushrooms and psychedelics but nobody talks about where to get them. Very hard to get a reliable source here in Australia. Really need!
Yes, dr.sporessss. I have the same experience with anxiety, depression, PTSD and addiction and Mushrooms definitely made a huge huge difference to why am clean today.
I wish they were readily available in my place. Microdosing was my next plan of care for my husband. He is 59 & has so many mental health issues plus probable CTE & a TBI that left him in a coma 8 days. It's too late now I had to get a TPO as he's 6'6 300+ pound homicidal maniac. He's constantly talking about killing someone. He's violent. Anyone reading this Familiar w/ BPD know if it is common for an obsession with violence.
Seriously, if you want your adhd/add child to prosper, help them learn to structure their lives and write things down in a schedule book or app. Routine and schedules really help a lot. Also, if you help them find productive ways to enjoy what they're passionate about, they usually excel and put a lot of effort into it. Teach them how to make a living out of it if you can.
@@TheNECichlids well they worked for me when I graduated college with high marks while self-medicating with energy drinks. Try the app Wunderlist. Reminders/notes/structure/encouragement help a lot. Also, sometimes things seem impossible for ADD/ADHD folks. We get overwhelmed sometimes and need to be shown how to do something new. After we learn the process we're fine. For example, my friend with ADD didn't know how to print or find his syllabi his first semester. He almost failed out of college because he was missing homework. His family found out and showed him how to do it. He has his bachelor's degree now!
@@TheNECichlids whomever shared this meant well and it may help someone out there...your comment gives off rude vibes, no need to disrespect a person who meant well.
@@TheNECichlids mate, I live with it too as does David from what they've written. Yes, there are a lot of aspects to supporting those with ADHD and a lot to learn but note taking and finding ways to keep yourself organised in your own way are critical and the concept isn't a complicated one. I have ADHD and am completing a Bachelor Degree. Getting a good grip on Evernote and Google Calendar has been essential in how I've been able to thrive. Finding ways to keep track of the little things and structure your day is critical, it allows you to keep powering on and focus on the big stuff. So no, I don't feel David is talking down to anyone, or minimising a problem that is very difficult for those of us with ADHD. He's just trying to help, we tend to be good at that.
Laughing in bed at 5 am! 😂 I was diagnosed with ADHD at age 5. This just confirms that we have a sense of humor and we are able to laugh at ourselves. Bit I wish that this showed more female comedians with ADHD. People seem to forget that women have it, too, and it's not mainly a boy's/men's disorder 🤭 still funny tho
Every Boomer ADHD joke: "Back in my day, ADHD was fixed with discipline." Well guess what, had military parents who were very strict, still had ADHD 🤔🤔🤔 So sick of ignorant people assuming it's a "Millennial thing", but it's not, we've ironically been too distracted by other things in the past to recognize it as an issue.
I'm a boomer, not diagnosed til I was 51. Lost so much of my life to the struggle and to undiagnosed depression. Many boomers are aware of ADHD because we have it too. And the 'fixing' was not only ineffective, it was brutal.
My doctor **REFUSED** to give me my ADHD medication ever again unless I saw a dietitian. I wasn't even FAT I WAS A TWIG. AND I KNOW HOW AND WENT TO EAT. But he said he was going to ***"CURE"*** my **AUTISM** by not giving me my medication which would have made me psychotic. Needless to say, we don't go there anymore. Especially since we moved back home so yeah. If the doctor says they're going to CURE YOUR AUTISM. *RUN* *AS FAR AND AS FAST AS YOU CAN. CAUSE I SWEAR TO YOU. THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU AT ALL.*
I agree with your main point. However, many jokes are funny because they're a wrong stereotype. If I remember correctly, the guy who made that joke has ADD/ADHD so he probably just blurted out whatever came to his head, like most of us do. 🤷🏼♀️
Exactly! My son has it, my brother has it (not diagnosed until sophomore year of high school) and my dad has it but was never diagnosed and he’s now 82 so there doesn’t seem much point, lol. But I hate all these people saying “in my day we didn’t have ADHD because Dad had a belt” etc. You can’t “discipline” ADHD away. Someone is born with it and there’s no cure. You use tools to manage and sure boundaries and discipline help all kids. But you can’t beat it out of someone
I have a bag of cats. ADHD, OCD, social anxiety, TS, and depression, and probably ASD. So my childhood was interesting. My parents are still recovering. 🤣.
Symptoms of add and adhd often overlap and present different symptoms in women vs men. Most females aren't diagnosed until adulthood because they don't appear as hyperactive like boys do when young. This is not ALWAYS true but it's very common. It's common for women to be diagnosed with things like bipolar instead. If you feel any concern please see a doctor. I'm not a professional just been through it myself!
@@CaitFalconer that's what I meant by they overlap but thank you for being more clear 😊 I was recently diagnosed myself and find that a lot of people still try to say add OR adhd when it's really all the same!
Diagnosed with ADHD and Depression. Just want to point out as well that ADHD people can get affected/offended by negative remarks too. In many cases, it's a worse experience compared to that of neurotypical people. Those diagnosed are prone to Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria. Rejection, Bullying, and other delibirately or even unintentional Offensive remarks will be internalized and can torment a person with ADHD for a very long time. No matter how little you think the act is.
That just sounds like someone who can't handle life. Having these disorders has become such a fad, that everyone thinks every little thing is some "condition". Or if they get upset in the slightest it's a "disorder". You get stressed out? So does every body else. You get depressed?, so does everyone else. Not every thing is a "disorder".
@@kaitlinski493 Everyone feels sad sometimes. When you feel so incredibly sad for no good reason you try to off yourself, that's a disorder. I'm sorry that the fact not everyone is able to "just deal with it" all the time offends you, but reality does not care about your feelings towards the matter.
I was diagnosed at 8 years old. But I was good in school, so my parents kept me away from meds. (46 years old, never took any meds) I was only bad in English/Literature because I found it boring., and couldn't focus. If you have A.D.D., and like something, you actually hyper focus on it, and the opposite with things you don't like.
I enjoyed the whole compilation but the Gatorade line made me laugh loud enough that I had to slap my hand over my mouth so I didn't wake anyone up. Not sure why that in particular got me but it did.
Everything is so true I forget if I washed my hair in the shower, I forget where I parked at the store, I can have a conversation and not hear a thing, or remember it.
I thought that was just normal human behavior. Letting my mind wander and think about other things to the point I forget about the tasks I'm in the middle of never occurred to me to be a symptom of ADHD.
Usually the ones who struggle with severe depression and anxiety are very funny. It is their coping mechanism and I'm sure you have to take I with a grain of salt. I have struggled with ADHD, OCD and depression. But I'm also pretty funny 😁. Love to all. Be kind, laugh and squirrel....
After all that most were the some version of the same 3 hack jokes about ADHD: squirrel, “it’s called discipline”/“just give the kid a spanking” or “they’re dumb”…. Appreciated the last guy breaking the mold and pointing out the twisted truth that actually a LOT of people with ADHD have above average IQs.
to be fair, I used to get made fun of by my parents because i ALWAYS said hi to the squirrels up until I was like 15yo. So that one at least checks out for me. I also tested with an IQ of 143. And it turns out while it can absolutely be a learning disability, ppl with ADHD are ACTUALLY better at pattern recognition and making connections (key components of “learning” and being “gifted”) Enter, the imposter syndrome of being a high-achieving student with ADHD 😂😂😂 Soo many times in my undergrad that I could’ve been getting counseling/treatment for sooner and wouldn’t have had to condense 8hrs of work into the 30min before a major project was due. 😅
Add is a disability to learn boring things😅 I didn't notice I have one in school just because of curiosity. My superpower is I can make everything seam interesting to learn at least for myself😂 Oh, anxiety and perfectionism also helps in doing assignments in time🙈
I was officially diagnosed at 40 with ADHD and I’m not embarrassed, ashamed or anything like that. I’ll tell people before starting conversations. I’m not ignoring you, the music in the other room may grab my attention, prepare to repeat what you just said. I will wonder off. Probably looking for my keys or wallet.
I had no idea I had adhd till my fiancé, who has been diagnosed with it, pointed it out. Now at 42, I’m like wtf. I knew there was something wrong with me my whole life, and couldn’t figure out what was wrong. Mostly because the stereotypes of a hyperactive kid didn’t fit me. No one told me about the procrastination, insomnia, anxiety, executive dysfunction, adhd paralysis, date and time issues, etc. Eff this shizz!
Sorry to hear that. I’m only getting medication now at 22 and I’m still upset I didn’t have it a decade sooner. Just like you I “knew there was something wrong with me” and didn’t know what. Because so few people, even many who know they have add/adhd, have no idea themselves what the condition really is. Anyone who could really comprehend it would never call it a “superpower” or discourage meds. But on the bright side, better now then never. I hope this discovery serves you well
@@Kashi_Mochibean I agree. People calling it a super power have never ruined relationships because you can't stop talking about something you're hyper fixated on or had to apologize numerous times for forgetting appointments or being late, then staying awake all night worrying that everyone hates you and thinking about the time in 5th grade where you said a stupid thing to a friend and you were sure they got mad at you about it but never said anything.
I'm not keen on Claude Stewart's set. I get that it's "just jokes" but what he's saying - that people with ADHD can't get depressed - is dangerous misinformation. Not only do people with ADD/ADHD experience depression, it's often crippling. By all means, enjoy the video, but please tuck that bit of information away in the back of your mind for future reference.
I love that it's lifted my crippling depression. It's great that i'm 53 and have nothjng better to do that even if i'm adhd i have nothing to be late at except my funeral.
I was heating up chili on the stove and made a mess. When I took the pot off, I thought "Man, I gotta clean that." So with my bare hand, I grabbed the metal thing that the pot sat on... and forgot that it was gonna be hot... All of this happened while I was watching this...
Hilarious! It's called Tommy needs a spanking. Yep, it's unfortunate it was handled that way. But it was. They just thought the kids were brats or spoiled back in the 50's. In the 60's and early 70's it was called hyper. It wasn't until more in the 90's that they finally realized it was really something that was considered a learning disability. But if you don't laugh at things, you'll make yourself sick.
Not a learning disability. It's a neurobiological condition. ADHD has never been a learning disability, it just looped into that umbrella because ADHD is screened at the same time as learning disabilities.
@@kasa9884 if it causes issues in a person's learning, then it's a learning disability. Why do people have to be so technical about things? Just leave it be. It's a easy way for people to understand it.
@@gerilynne1955 It's a teaching disability. Although most people process incoming information in the standard methods commonly used, some (quite a few, in fact) do not. That is not a disability of the learner, it's a deficit in the standard mode of delivery. When a child is criticized for not performing as presumed capable of and expected, or is seen as intelligent - but lazy or defiant, then labeled as disordered, disabled, or disturbed starting from a very young age - they suffer. Often they do develop emotional problems too, not just from those experiences, but from the their own frustrations, self-condemnation, feeling "different" from their peers, and the insecurity, lack of self-confidence, and fear of failure all of that can engender.
I just started to look into adhd at 40 yo. I mentioned it to my dad, and he said my 5th grade teacher mentioned it and he suggested beatings. I was in awe.
I take pills for anxiety and depression and I also was diagnosed with ADHD at 37 years old. So I also take pills for that too. Depression being in the mix is also possible.
Those with ADHD…. This stuff is so true. Down to the quickly disappearing sweets and extreme excitement - because you went to the DOLLAR STORE again for the 50th time that year.
Diagnosed ADHD at 43 years old... I can appreciate how the clips roll from one comedian to the next and 25 minutes have passed before I realize it. Also, to the people getting serious about the disorder: these are jokes. I'm sorry you suffer and I empathize with you, but sometimes jokes are offensive. They are still jokes. Learn to laugh at yourself. It helps...sometimes. (I hate how many people shouted squirrel like we are the dog from Up. It's not funny.)
This one time, I had a really bad panic attack and I was rambling on about how I wanted to off myself. I was on the phone with a friend and he was crying cuz I was crying. Literally a minute later, I was already looking at memes and laughing while still being on the phone with my friend.. who was still crying... He cried for like 5 more minutes. The same friend often have to pull me away to get me to move when I go home. I would just approach every dog or cat I see, and I'd just run up to a pretty flower and just stare at it while zoning out. He said that he has said "Leave the dog" to me most XD
My psychiatrist thought i just had anxiety and depression, which are symptoms of ADHD. I watched lots of instagram reels and read memes about ADHD and those symptoms sounded a lot like me. I advocated to get myself tested and the neuropsychologist diagnosed me with ADHD-combined type. I feel like ive had ADHD my whole life, but women are severely underdiagnosed with it.
😂😂😂 Literally did my adhd assessment again yesterday after 20 years. Multiplication came up & I said “ no skip” “ I didn’t learn that”. Tester: “ you didn’t learn multiplication?” Me: “ nope. It was taught. I just didn’t learn it”
I tried to be offended over the "ooh! a butterfly!" stereotype but I literally have missed lectures cause I found butterflies while on my way to the lecture hall at least 4 times...
The spankings with a belt didn't take away the ADHD or ADD. I used to think that I was the worst person in the world because I wasn't able to stop myself from doing the things that I was told not to do or doing things without thinking it thru first or speaking without a filter. I honestly believed that I was stupid and will always be a failure. It led to depression and attempted suicide several times. It took years of therapy to overcome all the damage.

Loved this! Those so offended by the comedian who said "depression doesnt happen with ADD/ADHD" Must have only read half the dictionary version for self deprecating comedy 😂 I have never met a fellow ADD/ADHD person who just "didnt know" that anxiety or depression are oftentimes a comorbid diagnoses with ADD/ADHD. These are comedians..... that means they usually extend some truths to create jokes that anyone, from any background, can understand.
I'm actually a little worried about that one's mental health. That level of self-deprecation is a little bit too much if you know what I mean. I hope he's doing okay and I really hope that he doesn't come here and read all of the comments and do something foolish.
I have ADHD and OCD, and I still have no filter. My mom weaned me off of the medication because on every pill that I took there were stupidly adverse effects. I once went on a 2-hour rant to mom my about people sagging their pants in the middle of Walmart due to Concerta. I had my mom low-key dying of laughter and embarrassment at the same time.
Ha! Everyone’s experience is different- and I know it’s just a bit. I get to have lots of letters: ADHD, ocd, ptsd, and then general anxiety, depression, panic attacks, prob something I’m forgetting… you get it. You gotta laugh or you’ll cry.
The last guy at the very end described the biggest struggle with getting diagnosed with ADHD, especially for girls. It's called twice exceptional. You have a learning disability or disorder as well as a high IQ or extremely gifted. Also, you can absolutely be depressed with ADHD. Going through life feeling like something is wrong with you because people just don't understand why you can't remember, be on time, hand in assignments, complete a task (without music or stimming), actually cross everything off your to do list, etc. When you go through life with the shame associated with all these executive functioning deficits, it quickly turns into depression and anxiety. You may think or say something funny, laugh a bit, make others laugh, but it doesmt change the soul crushing nature of untreated ADHD. I'm still in the diagnostic phase at 22, and originally went in for an ASD assessment, but my psych notice the ADHD and has been testing for that too. I'm so excited to finally be medicated, hopefully before the end of the year so I can do more than one assignment for my tafe course per every three months.
Giftedness is not comorbid with ADHD. They are separate things. Most ADHD people are not gifted. Giftedness would likely be a higher % in the ADHD population but that may mean that 8% of ADHDers are gifted, not the majority. 2E or Twice Exceptional is any person who is gifted and has a disability such as ADHD, autism or dyslexia.
I recently found a channel that is helping me remember some things I forgot about ADHD behavior and blaming ones self unnecessarily. And I'm learning things too. Its called "How to ADHD".
I’m ADHD and have 3 adult kids with 3 different types. The entire journey has been …unique ly a challenging. At 64, I remain continually challenged, though I’m retired and don’t have to manage time. This was so fun to watch and laugh along too!
I was looking up piano tutorials, except here I am. Watching this. But I also can't concentrate on it and keep restarting it... So I saved this to watch later. 😂 What I watched was gold though 🤣 ADHD is amazing. I love it. So much. 😐 it's great.

My best analogy, when trying to describe what it’s like inside this noggin of mine 😅 Remember when we were kids, and we would spin in circle until we would fall over…imagine that feeling u have in ur mind, not the dizziness, but the discombobulation, slight confusion even…that is how my brain feels, 24/7, 💯 As if my thoughts are attached to helium balloons, w a wind turbine close by, on full blast. 🤷🏻♀️ 😬

So fricking true. But hey, at least now we have modern medicine. Not that it doesn’t still suck finding out later you could have had some help all along. 😔
I trrrrryyyyy so hard not to do it.
yes 100% this!
I have a terminal illness called "always saying me too whenever someone says something"
Depression is largely known to be associated with depression. Whoever said that they are mutually exclusive is misinformed.

Hahahahaha that’s facts 😂
Repeat.))
Thank you. This video was so annoying to me
Wow. Wonderful comment. Your right...
I prefer to think of it as EFC executive functioning challenges across the board as it’s a far more accurate term
Ty so much for explaining it thoroughly.
ADHD, depression, social anxiety, generalized anxiety disorder. Sometimes ASD traits to go along. All one messy little package. ✨💫

I'm here with you
Tell people you have a neurological condition that affects every aspect of your life and makes you feel ashamed and worthless and watch them get worried and then tell them it's adhd and see how fast they start laughing. Some of these were funny, I'm not saying you can't laugh about it; it's a difficult thing to live with and comedy is a great way to cope. But we aren't... We aren't clowns. We don't literally chase squirrels and butterflies and we certainly get depressed.
It's so funny though!! Nobody is going to be compassionate towards you...so Let's laugh!!
Facts. My husband has add, i don't. Im shocked and saddened how this affects him every minute. Life is MUCH harder with this condition
@@CaitFalconer that's actually a great way to describe it. "A tornado of thoughts that you can't organize".
I have a real issue with Claude Stewart's routine, because this idea is part of what can prevent women (like me) from getting diagnosed with ADHD. Depression and ADHD often co-occur.
Why
Are you adhd or add. Girls are frequently under diagnosed because they lack the hyperactivity. I have a theory the depression occurs due to having to deal with the daily stress caused by the add. Particularly work related stress. That was me. Now retired, l get to happily muddle my way through my disorganization🥴
@@missg.5940 Yes, I got diagnosed (with inattentive type) 3 years ago when I was 27. I got depressed and on and off for a long time before my diagnosis. The whole jumping around monkey-like behavior of his set is so misinforming. I didn't find it funny at all.
@@missg.5940 I have ADD and my depression occurs regardless of how stressed I am. Yes, stress makes it worse, but I still get it even without stress.

This sadly is actually the opposite.
I always thought it was bs when doctors said no one can be depressed indefinitely
Yeah he couldn’t be more wrong when saying you can’t have depression n ADHD at the same time

I'm 38, I can't imagine how awful your school was to say something like that. In Cali, that wasn't a thing
@@JaxLittles ,
Rural/suburban Texas, and this was far from "the school's" advice.

Honestly, if it wasn't for my autism I would be a mess.
And anxiety
We also have a higher risk of developing bipolar disorder. Because when your hyperfixation becomes the things you don't like yourself it gets intense.
Seriously, the notes don’t really help. It’s so much more than that.
@@flamekeeper1340 I live with this. His post grossly oversimplifies and was being rude.

It wasn’t fixed. People just suffered.
My doctor **REFUSED** to give me my ADHD medication ever again unless I saw a dietitian. I wasn't even FAT I WAS A TWIG. AND I KNOW HOW AND WENT TO EAT. In many cases, it's a worse experience compared to that of neurotypical people. Those diagnosed are prone to Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria. @@gerilynne1955 It's a teaching disability. Although most people process incoming information in the standard methods commonly used, some (quite a few, in fact) do not. When a child is criticized for not performing as presumed capable of and expected, or is seen as intelligent - but lazy or defiant, then labeled as disordered, disabled, or disturbed starting from a very young age - they suffer.
Thanks!
As someone with ADD, comedy is a therapy for me. Then I get reminded that I have work to do. So I go back watching comedy. Especially stand up.
Sid Davis! Baggage Claim! What a joke! That guy is hilarious! I liked the line up, but the baggie claim story. OMG!
I love Jeff Allen. He is the best. A wonderful Christian, a fantastic comedian, and an awesome guy.
Good seein ya on you tube and dry comedy, mr Allen.
I saw jeff allen with the GAITHERS about 25 yrs ago in pgh, pa at the old civic arena. It was a Christmas service and it was BEAUTIFUL.
Peace and love
Glen
Jeff Allen is one of my favorites as well.
@@daniellerapozo5777 Hello Danielle. How are ya? Thanks for replying .
🙏 AMEN... jeff allen is super funny. He is getting old. Well, we all are, haaaaaa. I saw jeff allen about 30 yrs ago. It was at the old civic arena in pgh , pa. It was a Christmas show with Bill and Gloria Gaither.
They had a bunch of entertainers there, and they are always wonderful.
I dont know if you heard of the Gaithers?
Jeff allen was excellent that day, I had to buy a cd there.
I met him at his section of his merchandise tables.
He was a great guy to talk to.
I got his autograph.
Did you ever see or hear of Jeff stine?
He is really good. I have an ole dvd of his. He travels with christian events. I saw him at a mens bible retreat, called Promise keepers a very long time ago.
I think he is still performing.
Oh. I saw him a few yrs later at a church that i used to attend, about 15 min from where i live.
Take a listen, if you can.
Enjoy
Glen..
@@daniellerapozo5777 Hi Danielle, i wrote ya earlier.
Since you hadnt replied, i figured that you are not intetested in the things that i mentioned.
Its okay, no biggie.
When i was telling you about other comedians, i could not think of the comedians name. My mind left me, haa haaaa.
I remembered it was stein, then i couldn't remember his first name.
I had a friend named jeff stein.
I gave you the wrong info, and it just hit me now.
I thought I would tell yu you about my mistake.
I remembered that his name is Brad, bot Jeff.
I was right about stein, but its spelled, Stine. Lol.
Brad Stine.
Check him out.
He is an awesome Christian comedian.
Take care.
I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was 8 and put on meds immediately because I kept getting into fights with the other kids. Didn’t really affect my creativity at all because I’m now in art school.
hi and thank you to the comedians i was recently diagnosed with ADHD and depression at age 49 and this helped me laugh out loud for the first time in a long time the depression bit annoyed me for like two seconds and i found myself laughing again
You are all in your own awesome way both all epic and all hilarious thank you for making me laugh on a day where the weather sucks outside and being indoors is the safest option at least I'm being entertained and I'm getting my proper full belly laughs send us more please and thank you
Claude: Adhd=no depresso
Me, who has just lost many of my friends and has literally no distractions except my scary thoughts: Say that one more time
Yup!
At 40 my mom told me I had ADD and Dyslexia. Ahhhhh the 2 missing pieces of the puzzle!
At 40? Really? How long was she aware of this, while allowing you to go on without this personal knowledge which may have inspired you to self advocate in a way she refused to do for you....?
I have ADD and I laughed out loud, so LOUD the whole time! From beginning to end this is HILARIOUS 😂😂😂
"Back in my day it wasn't called ADHD, it was called 'Jeff needs a spanking'".
🤣😆😂😁😅🤣😆😂
😞
Drybar, PLEASE do a playlist of all your awesome compilations! I love them. But they're hard for us to find now that you've done so many, unless we can remember every single topic. Pretty please! Thank you 😘
Have a look on RUclips at the Holderness Family all of them are diagnosed with ADHD and they have a catalogue of terrific song parodies which are super entertaining
"They have a lot of things to almost do"
Why must you come at me like this.
Loved this!
Those so offended by the comedian who said "depression doesnt happen with ADD/ADHD"
Must have only read half the dictionary version for self deprecating comedy 😂
I have never met a fellow ADD/ADHD person who just "didnt know" that anxiety or depression are oftentimes a comorbid diagnoses with ADD/ADHD.
Oh the number of times I’ve gotten into trouble for embarrassing people
Oh yeah!!!! I learned about having ADHD around 48 years old. I relate so much!😂 Laughing is better than crying!
Ha! Everyone’s experience is different- and I know it’s just a bit.
I get to have lots of letters:
ADHD, ocd, ptsd, and then general anxiety, depression, panic attacks, prob something I’m forgetting… you get it. You gotta laugh or you’ll cry.
That reads like the typical laundry list of ASD misdiagnoses in girls and women. Have a look into autism.
The story about the baggage claim had me rollin'! 15:46
This just serves to confirm my belief that most-- if not all-- stand-up comics have ADHD.
😂 I’m in an ADD book club. We get together once a month and just talk about the first page of books

🤣😅😭
I have all of this, and depression and it's still really funny.😅 ❤❤❤ It helps to laugh. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I'm only recently discovering that I have ADHD, and all the ways it influences and effects me
I recently found a channel that is helping me remember some things I forgot about ADHD behavior and blaming ones self unnecessarily. And I'm learning things too. Its called "How to ADHD".
Thank goodness I have learned that I too am an victim.
@@elSacoConCarne I really hope that was sarcasm. It’s hard to tell lately.
@@constanceskalecki4928 He just started, is learning.
@@victoriawilliams2786 I love that channel, her channel helped me understand my ADHD more and how it affects me.
I’m ADHD and have 3 adult kids with 3 different types. The entire journey has been …unique ly a challenging. At 64, I remain continually challenged, though I’m retired and don’t have to manage time. This was so fun to watch and laugh along too!
ADHD, depression, anxiety... full package here... fun times... :P
I was looking up piano tutorials, except here I am. Watching this. But I also can't concentrate on it and keep restarting it... So I saved this to watch later. 😂 What I watched was gold though 🤣
ADHD is amazing. I love it. So much. 😐 it's great.
I sent the link to this video to my ADHD son and he says “It’s 28 minutes - sum it up for me.” 😂
This was fantastic! Thank you for putting it together.
I have ADHD I got three bags of Frozen smoothie mix somebody gave me.
(four years ago)
I chopped up strawberries and froze them. Because five days ago I was going to make a smoothie.
In about 2 months I should be enjoying a smoothie. ☹️
My best analogy, when trying to describe what it’s like inside this noggin of mine 😅
Remember when we were kids, and we would spin in circle until we would fall over…imagine that feeling u have in ur mind, not the dizziness, but the discombobulation, slight confusion even…that is how my brain feels, 24/7, 💯
As if my thoughts are attached to helium balloons, w a wind turbine close by, on full blast. 🤷🏻♀️ 😬
The way I paused this and forgot about it for 9 hours because I needed a drink. 😅 I need medication to operate genuinely. 😅
Was the drink coffee
Badgerine was my fav. By Gatorade, I could not breathe😂😂😂 and the book club page 1😂😂😂
ocd and add adhd tough out here im a genius and a dumbass at the same time
Im older and have adhd cptsd & just found out im on the autism spectrum
What i thought was anxiety and depression is actually a dopamine lift and drop. I always knew something was wrong but didnt get diagnosed til later in life. I wait it out, which isnt easy but it works. Hope this helps. Try it and see.
“ah yes lets give this one a lot of intelligence and creativity but also the lack of being able to use it!!” -life
Gods sense of humour
So fricking true.
But hey, at least now we have modern medicine. Not that it doesn’t still suck finding out later you could have had some help all along. 😔
