- In this latest episode #17 of The Farm Hand's Companion Show, Pa Mac continues a 4-part series on building a larger old-fashioned log chicken house from materials found on the homestead, using simple, self-sufficient, and sustainable methods-along with both modern and old hand tools in an attempt to keep and raise poultry. Several types of common log notches are shown, as well as how to make rafters out of peeled pine poles. Pa Mac also sets up his homemade lumber operation again to make chainsaw mill lumber in preparation for installing wood shingle or wood shake roofing.
Be sure and subscribe to the Farm Hand's Companion channel to keep up with the progress as Pa Mac takes an undeveloped piece of property and turns it into a small subsistence farm. Watch for new episodes as often as Pa Mac can crank 'em out and still run a small farm. (As long as he's alive and kicking, he's most assuredly farming and filming!)
