Would sit on the floor with my sister Beth and listen to this album. I was 11 and she was 12. She's gone to heaven but This is a moment I remember her by.
A stunning opus is this masterpiece. Far from being underrated, this has been a favorite of fans and music critics for nearly 50 years, and was the opening track on Goodbye Yellow Brick Road which was the Billboard #1 album in 1973.
Oh yes. EJ BAND 70,75, incredible, and not even in the hall of fame. Ĺaughable. Those 5 albums made in the chateau are classics and the soundtrack to many ppl lives.
Always loved this album. I was just a punk kid (in other words, a Freshman in high school.) Played this in my bedroom all the time. Thank you Elton and Bernie for such a special masterpiece! ❤🙏❤🙏❤
He definitely does not annunciate the lyrics clearly in this song. Even following along with the posted lyrics it's hard to understand. Next time I listen I know I will revert to what I think he's singing...lol
Vocals don’t start until 5 and a half minutes. At that point, it feels like you’ve already heard 2 songs. Probably my favorite song in any live performance.
Yah - just woke the dead singing out my window - Elton/God/Bernie/God/Love/All - don't get any purer deerect messages from 'urp-uh-berve foks' so listen up and listen good and listen now and don't you be caught saying you never learned the lyrics - BE ALL BE GOOD BE WELL SMILE!
The roses in the window box Have tilted to one side Everything about this house Was born to grow and die Oh it doesn't seem a year ago To this very day You said I'm sorry honey If I don't change the pace I can't face another day And love lies bleeding in my hand Oh it kills me to think of you with another man I was playing rock and roll and you were just a fan But my guitar couldn't hold you So I split the band Love lies bleeding in my hands I wonder if those changes Have left a scar on you Like all the burning hoops of fire That you and I passed through You're a bluebird on a telegraph line I hope you're happy now Well if the wind of change comes down your way girl You'll make it back somehow And love lies bleeding in my hand Oh it kills me to think of you with another man I was playing rock and roll and you were just a fan But my guitar couldn't hold you So I split the band Love lies bleeding in my hands And love lies bleeding in my hand Oh it kills me to think of you with another man I was playing rock and roll and you were just a fan But my guitar couldn't hold you So I split the band Love lies bleeding in my hands Love lies bleeding in my hand
I've always wondered what Davey's career might have been like had he never met Elton. Would it have been greater or lesser? Did his strong loyalty to Elton empower him, or encumber him? We will never know the answer, but to have been playing guitar like this epic piece at the mere age of 20 shows what a master he was, as well as how fortunate Elton was to have him.
Definitely a great song that anyone that was so passionate about their job or way of life and they really do love their significant other and their significant other decides that you are more passionate about what you love doing is more important than them and then love shared between you two falls apart. Song about real life situations, a song most of us can relate to
I was in 6th grade at Woodworth JH in Dearborn MI when this masterpiece album came out. A student brought it to school and a group of us were squeezed in looking at the lyrics and art. So appreciate Mr. Hale played it for us. I'm smiling as I visualize all of us with long hair, bell-bottoms, wide collars & granny dresses.
Wow what a teacher, in the classic sense. “Check this out, think about it, in more than a pablum rock song. There’s a reason this is still loved and listened to, playing on the radio, Some 40 years later 😀
This whole time I thought he was saying "I could tell by the things I can do with another man" 😂 I thought this whole song was a hidden message about coming out lol.
every member of that band was simply fantastic - and it just pops right out. Fantastic - I've loved this LP since it was released when I was in high school.
Definitely one of my favourite songs of his. But then the ones that aren't the hits always are. And this album is much better than his newer stuff. The only stuff in the same league as this album is albums that are older than "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road". I think my favourite Elton John song is "Lady Samantha".
Saw Elton in San Jose, Ca a few years ago. Prior to start I mentioned that I hoped he played Funeral for a Friend/Loves Lies Bleeding at some point. And then he opened with it. Hot damn!!!
5:01 is when this song really earns epic status. It really set the tone when it was played at JB Andrews, 20 Jan 21, as former President Trump approached the stage for a few remarks before winging away from Washington. Truly a moment of history to personally witness with an incredible soundtrack...
My mother always loved this song and would tell me she wanted it played at her funeral. I did just that.
Fantastic. I'm sure your Mother was very pleased. I love you. We will meet one day in Heaven and discuss Reg.
God bless you
awesome job
My children have been told over and over they are to play this at mine.
Beautiful ❤️

#1 album in 1973. Deservedly so.
Always loved this album. I was just a punk kid (in other words, a Freshman in high school.) Played this in my bedroom all the time. Thank you Elton and Bernie for such a special masterpiece! ❤🙏❤🙏❤
I will never grow tired of this song. It's a masterpiece!
Saw this live in St. Louis on 3/30/2022. Chills. Literal chills running all over me. One of my first albums ever bought was Goodbye Yellow Brook Road.
I seen him in Detroit 2022 best day ever
I think it was his greatest album?
This is a masterpiece.
How does he just know the perfect way to mesh all of this stuff together?! Seriously so good at the craft.
One of the best artist of my time! This song is one of my favorites from Elton. I love it more now than I did back then. Can't get enough of it! ❤
The more I get older the more I realise how good this song this
Just was covered live by METALLICA !!!
I can't stop watching the Metallica cover, it's so amazing!
And they KILLED IT!!!
I have loved this song for about 30 years ❤ 😍
I think it's very underated. Thanks 👍 glad somebody else feels same.
My dad showed me this song when I was a little kid
One of Elton's best songs, I loved the double "BLUE MOVES" ALBUM
Thanks for posting this. I've wondered for years just what the heck he was saying. Now that I know, I like the song even better.
He definitely does not annunciate the lyrics clearly in this song. Even following along with the posted lyrics it's hard to understand. Next time I listen I know I will revert to what I think he's singing...lol
Elton John is one of the best all around ever... we grew up with his music and thank him a lot.
Such an awesome song and meaningful, loving good music he is a great musician 💯💖💖💖
Love this song
OMG, this song still gives me goosebumps in 2021...❤❤💕💕💕
Me too
Gave me flashbacks... ugh.
❤ 2023
Powerful stuff!
I remember listening to this song when I was a kid. Loved it then love it now.
Vocals don’t start until 5 and a half minutes. At that point, it feels like you’ve already heard 2 songs. Probably my favorite song in any live performance.
Especially live by METALLICA !!!
Elton John is the genius of Pop music, of all times! I love every single song of him.
In the Omni Atlanta GA. I was 13 years old. Today I'm 62. This was his opening song. Never Will forget
I have dedicated this to the love of my life already
What a trip speed wagon
I think a lot of people misinterpret this song. He is not seeing about the death of an individual. He's singing about the death of a loved lost
That’s the beauty of music, everyone can interpret it in their own way
3:15 is the place to start so it won't be sad
👌🏻🔥💋🖐🏻❤️
I came here because of Metallica's fucking cool cover version of this song and, even being a Metalhead, I did dig it!

The roses in the window box
Have tilted to one side
Everything about this house
Was born to grow and die
Oh it doesn't seem a year ago
To this very day
You said I'm sorry honey
If I don't change the pace
I can't face another day
And love lies bleeding in my hand
Oh it kills me to think of you with another man
I was playing rock and roll and you were just a fan
But my guitar couldn't hold you
So I split the band
Love lies bleeding in my hands
I wonder if those changes
Have left a scar on you
Like all the burning hoops of fire
That you and I passed through
You're a bluebird on a telegraph line
I hope you're happy now
Well if the wind of change comes down your way girl
You'll make it back somehow
And love lies bleeding in my hand
Oh it kills me to think of you with another man
I was playing rock and roll and you were just a fan
But my guitar couldn't hold you
So I split the band
Love lies bleeding in my hands
And love lies bleeding in my hand
Oh it kills me to think of you with another man
I was playing rock and roll and you were just a fan
But my guitar couldn't hold you
So I split the band
Love lies bleeding in my hands
Love lies bleeding in my hand
💞💞💞🎶🎶🎶🎸🎸🎸😍😍😍
Masterpiece.
Quick question: How did Death die?
jesus christ said ''it is finished''

Unfortunately it's what happens when you ha e so many LMASTER PIECES
I heard my dad playing this for his friend...now I'm 40 playing it for my friend. RIP Kristen
Sorry for your loss. Be strong, stay strong. Amen 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
@@keithbannister9271 thank you
Now my Dad's gone. Playing it for him 😢 What a circle
Probably Davey Johnstone's finest moment as a guitarist. Well, this and "Saturday Night's Alright (For Fighting)".

First time I heard this my friend and I had just installed a new radio in his truck. Audiovox with 6X9 inch speakers.
You must be 63 like me!
A true gem! As a 65 year old, I feel young again? And the mondo guitar riffs are just a bonus!
Agreed!!👍🏻
Yes, I'm 62 great memories.
Check out Metallica's cover of this song. The KILL IT!! Even Elton John loved it. He said it was amazing.
The way Elton touches your soul is beyond magical
Sounds ghey
Memories of a cousin lost.
His pinnacle song. So heartfelt. He opens with it. What a masterpiece;

Broke up with my girl yesterday. Felt like a good song to listen to several times
This whole time I thought he was saying "I could tell by the things I can do with another man" 😂 I thought this whole song was a hidden message about coming out lol.
I thought the same thing! LOL
I also hear that being said. Can't get it out of my head, even following along with the lyrics.
every member of that band was simply fantastic - and it just pops right out. Fantastic - I've loved this LP since it was released when I was in high school.
Pinnacle of rock genius!.
Kick ass !
What a great song by sir Elton John ❤
Who wrote lyrics? Bernie Taupin and Elton John. However much money Elton John has made in his life, he deserves ten times more.

Yeah, but The union and Believe are pretty strong too
Love those frequencies ❤

Iconic and a masterpiece of John and Taupin.
I was a teen when I heard this and I’ve always thought that this was a great piece of work
