  • "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times..."
With all due regard to Mr Dickens, that very thought went through Mark and Christopher's minds as VHS ReWind sat through the forgotten curiosity that is the 1981 TV pilot for "The Best of Times".
This featuires an amazing cast of before-they-found-actual-fame actors: Crispin Glover (playing it relatively straight! except one scene allows him an opportunity to tap that oddball genius acting that will become his forte decades later), Nicholas Coppola (ah, name notwithstanding, you will recognize him right away (even with the full head of actual hair he has - no toupee here -- and although he is playing it rel;atively straight, one scene allows him an opportunity to tap that oddball genius acting that will become his forte decades later); B-movie queen Jill Schoelen; and then there's old-timer Jackie Mason bringing his inimitable style of delivery to some cringe-y punchlines.
Is this show too ahead of its time with its fourth-wall-breaking and its tendency to burst into musical numbers? is it the best of times or is it the worst of times?
Take a listen to this latest episode as Mark and Christopher review this incredible piece of nostalgia and maybe break into a musical number themselves.
