INTJ here responding to the question on how other type's respond to change. I would say from personal experience it closely resembles the 'INFJ Door Slam' in that it is usually thought out and rigid; however, one difference from the 'INFJ Door Slam' is that it isn't necessarily permanent. If I think the conflict has dissipated or resolved itself I may flip the lock and allow the other person or idea to re-enter (and I'd treat that re-entrance neutrally as a new beginning). Before watching this video I used to joke around and call the process deleting but I don't think it's as accurate of a term now.
i have two infj friends and now that i think about it, the part about sad eyes when they are not particularly sad and about the subtle clothing is true as well
Oh my goodness, yes! I got tired of personality discussions on the internet (outside of NF Geeks, really) because of Function Talk. I find Function Talk kind of vapid and well, as you say, not leading toward truth. I chose not to engage in it so I got labeled an ignorant outsider. It's validating to hear your own take on this.
Darn it, I wrote something and now I lost it. I'm writing to you on my phone and I lost motivation to write it again. It was a pretty long post. I'll just state the key things I wanted to write. 1. It is happening. 2. I left the group, but it's a long story. 3. You are right about not coming to any definite conclusions. I wish that on the group, we would come to conclusions/working theories on anything MBTI or typology related and posted that conclusion in the file sections in the group. I wish in the files section of the group, their was a library of information concerning personality and workable theories concerning psychology and whatnot. 4. I felt sort of depressed on the forum and I don't know why. (I am INFP by the way, just incase maybe this is type related.) Maybe it could have been weak Ne or just the reality of interacting with other types and them not matching with my ideal type of them and saying things that did not match with what I expected them to say. I know I might not be making any sense and my grammar is horrible and the way I express myself is horrible, but I feel like it would be good to write this since "it's happening". 5. I "type" people holistically as well. 6. Since this video gave me some proof it was happening, I was going to join again. Some ENFPs lately have been incredible with that. I think that's all I have to say for now, but there is a lot more I want to get off my chest. Although, I lose energy to do so or possibly my Fi is telling me to not even try. I also am not anywhere near being a pro at anything MBTI or personality related. Bonus Theory: It could be possible that type is influenced by genetics a bit. I wouldn't be able to argue that theory, nor do I have a strong feeling about it. It's just a fun little theory. (I might not have covered everything I wanted to say, but whatever.) Also, what books would you recommend for learning everything their is to know about MBTI?
In terms, of views, and practice, of the theory, you seem disconnected. You may be observing the same thing. The more I observe type the more I automatically begin to "read" people. I find my process to be more similar to that of the visual readers. I still relate more to how you describe it. I personally see definite aspects of a personality. I could describe in definite terms if I tried. I've had confirmation, that the typing is accurate, but am not convinced on how I got there. I sort of feel like I'm subconsciously picking up on one thing and consciously connecting it to something else. Could be part of the problem with others.
I recommend closer analysis of your process then. This comes up all the time around me again and again and it's success rate seems rather poor. My guess is that the rationalization is that the person was originally typed wrong and now is typed correctly. I find that that is very unlikely in light of how many get typed wrong. It depends what you are talking about though. I too look for things like I said when typing, especially when it seems something is not right with what they say the type is vs. how they act vs. what the inventory says. I have some basic questions that I use to at least narrow down the temperament but just straight up looking at them is what I use as well. However, I have yet to really see a result or an amount of results that would change my mind about this technique whatever its incarnations may be. Be mindful. That's my suggestion.
NFGeeks with Dr. Mike! Perhaps at a later date. I have my own ideas on that. As, of now I think it's necessary to first observe, many people, already knowing their type. Then find common characteristics, and confirm it's, exclusive, and consistent for the said types... Not sure enough would come of it. If, it's possible to read without knowing the type, it could take forever. The first way, is how I do it. I would need to observe more types. Although, I do something, similar just interacting with people. I just notice similarities, to others, like subtle cues, and later, they act like them. It could be, a singe word they say, how they laugh, or a face they make. They can be random, and since learning type, I begin to associate them. I'm not sure, if I'm observing something, unknowingly, and associating it with something irrelevant...
NFGeeks with Dr. Mike! Not sure, if it's clear, this is always automatic, which is part of what, caught my attention. With people, in general, I've done that since I can remember. I tend to see patterns everywhere though. I question, these groups, for various reasons.
Just to clarify. If someone were to not dress exactly like a certain type, would you still type them as such? From what I understood in your video, you would, depending on the 'total' or 'holistic' analysis of the person. For example, if someone were matching all indicators but their dress style as ESFJ, you would still type/see them as ESFJ.
Hey Dr. Mike, (ENFP here) I find that when I see male ENFPs I immediately recognize similarities between us, no matter their age. However, I don't see myself in female ENFPs at all. Do you have any experience with this? You've mentioned that you prefer the company of women before...
NFGeeks with Dr. Mike! Same here. There are also, two similar schools that offer undergraduate, I'm considering for the future. Now, I'm mainly focused, on work, and personal study of religion. It's working out well.
Seeker Of Self Discovery Alright... I guess, you don't want to answer any of my questions. Anyways... It's pretty great, and if you decide to do it, lot of options, other than flying to Ca. It would add to the credentials you're looking for.
This is so right on! You described the NF's I know, including myself.

So funny how accurate this is. My friend is an ENFP and she is always talking about her cleavage.

Oh so the fourth doctor rocks a scarf because he's an INFJ.

I have a blank stare INFP
Hobby :( However it does indicate something.

Please Understand Me II of course. But The MBTI Manual and Introduction to Type are the best places to start. Then The 16 Personality Types.

What about the different physical traits of the other temperaments? NTs, SJ/Ps? Just in general

Janeway is best :) lol
That's stupid, but I'll allow it. :-)
I have a beard I must be a bearded type lol
Also, somewhere out there this is taken seriously. People can fucking get a doctors degree on MBTI! www.pacifica.edu/Jungian_Archetypal_Studies.aspx
WOW. I would LOVE to do that!

NFGeeks with Dr. Mike! Curious, what type you think I am. Fairly certain I'm an ENFJ, but want to know your opinion.
Seeker Of Self Discovery Based on other videos, and recent personal messages... ENFP?
