This is an instructional tutorial 5-string bluegrass banjo lesson teaching BACKUP BANJO LICKS for the traditional Gospel song "Will the Circle Be Unbroken." On this video I teach the licks within the framework of the song -- measure by measure, phrase by phrase, using on-screen tablature, then I put it together -- slowly at first, then faster toward the end, adding rhythm guitar and vocal audio overlays and on-screen chord prompts -- with a view toward learning the licks in a more general sense for use in other songs as well.
Hear this tune played with guitar rhythm backup (slow, medium, fast) starting at 17:03. Guitar chords are provided on-screen.
Hope you enjoy.

Bless you, Nesbitt. This was probably the last song my Dad ever heard me play. Your version too. I'm going to commit these licks to memory to honor his.
Blessings on you as well! Many sympathies on the loss of your Dad, but I believe the Circle will not be broken.

Yep, thanks for asking! My voice is pretty shot, but other than that, I'm doing OK. Staying really busy with students, so I haven't been uploading as much. Got more coming though.
