PS3 situation was mainly due to the economy of the times back then, rather than Xbox doing things differently. Outside of the Xbox big three and being easier to develop for, they did not do anything else. Not because their games were better than Sony's. Maybe you were young and that's the perception you had at the time but if you look at PS3/Xbox 360 era objectively thing are much different.
360 definitely had a hotter start, PS3 didn't warm up till uncharted 2 mgs 4 etc came out, live was better than psn, halo was still king even with cod4

If they're going to do Halo on Playstation, I don't think a direct Port of the Master Chief collection is the right move. They should remaster Halo reach through Halo 3 on the same engine and release it as Halo collection 1. Although Halo anniversary and Halo 2 remastered look great they don't hold up to today's standards.

Even if the Xbox had 11/10 games, nobody would sell their Playstation with dozens of digital games on their accounts just to buy an Xbox with none of those games transferring. They started releasing all their games to PC, now they do it day one with every game. Sony is releasing to PC whilst shortening the PS timed-exclusivity (or straight up releasing DAY 1). Xbox is doing it first, because their platform is the weakest in player numbers, Playstation will do it later. Their games will appear on Xbox too.

They started releasing all their games to PC, now they do it day one with every game. Sony is releasing to PC whilst shortening the PS timed-exclusivity (or straight up releasing DAY 1). Xbox is doing it first, because their platform is the weakest in player numbers, Playstation will do it later. Their games will appear on Xbox too.

The main and only real reason I have an Xbox is for Halo despite Playstation being my primary game console. If Halo comes to ps5, then there is no real need for me to have an Xbox anymore. Especially when games now play better on ps5 pro. Granted a lot of these games if not all are on Gamepass. But this is kind of the final mail in the coffin unless the next Xbox can somehow run steam and pc games. I love all things Halo and still play Halo Wars on a regular basis. If these titles are on Playstation, then what's the point.
Exclusives to me sell consoles. No exclusives means no need to have said console. I know there are a lot of people who feel the same way.
However, we need Xbox to succeed in breeding competition for Sony. It is better for us as consumers. I love my Playstation and have been on it since day 1, but they are becoming more and more anti consumer because they can get away with it due to a lack of competition.
Doom should be a multi platform. Halo, Gears, Forza, and a few others simply should not.
Microsoft with the software, especially on the gaming front with Xbox games, makes more than Sony. However, from a console perspective, Sony has no competition.
