I was gonna check this guy out since I have the Transit Workpack right now but then I saw that they actually have a new “Second Edition” of the existing Transit Workpacks which added a luggage pass through, an external water bottle pocket as well as additional internal mesh pockets. Really nice stuff.
Kinda like the green/blue combo. It helps that they're my 2 favourite colours especially deep blue. Still not a fan of bottle holders that eat into the main compartment though yet otherwise a pretty nice bag (that I should pass on because I already have too many bags! you've turned us into women with bag obsessions instead of shoes)
I see that Bellroy have released a second edition of the normal transit workpack also... any plans to complete a review of this? I was looking to buy the transit workpack soon however the release of the pros and now the 2nd edition have left me questioning which one to get! Love the content!
Sure, if I could get it at a reasonable price, I’d be using and loving it too! Great aesthetics, smart organization, very elegant and sleek. But dayuum, that price! I just wonder how well they’ll hold up over the years to justify that cost. Great review, thanks!
Not cheap. While I’ve seen some examples of Bellroy products falling apart, I think that most of their bags will last many years, but can never say for sure
Maybe just me, but i feel work bags really need to have more organziation like the Aer Tech Pack. Closest ive seen is the Alpaka Elements Pro, but even that doesnt have as much and as clean organziation like the tech pack. Love just having my bag sit on the floor leaning on the table leg or chair beside me, so instead of a deparate tech pack, just reaching down the top of the bag for quick access. This bag got me a bit hyped but even if its rated for more space, its simply unorganized space to me. I know Bellroy is often more casual, but hopefully they bring something to market with a lot more organization.
love the green combo and the 22 is the size I was looking for - I have the 28 travel previous version and it's my favourite bag for a two day travel and when I need the extra space.
Gee, that facing marked so easily and after such a short period of time too. I'd be worried about it's durability (albeit aesthetic). I love how you keep going back to Aer bags as alternatives as they are the best in the bag game in my humble. Bellroy's finishes inside (stitch lines, etc) are also pretty rough at times and look hand done, at least inside the last iteration of the transit pack. To see for yourself (next time you are in a store stocking the old version, open the top quick access pocket and have a look at the stitching (and cut lines) in the bottom corners (I checked out 4 different 20L transits in 4 different stores, all the same). I guess their marketing bills are so high, they've gotta cut corners somewhere. Great, honest review mate!
Love the video as always Aaron.Used to own the OG 28L and the water bottle pocket was my least favourite design. It eats into the main compartment too much when packed for travelling
Does the pocket in the laptop compartment still fit the Bellroy techpack? Looking to upgrade to this from the old work pack, just for the luggage pass through alone.
I love these minimalist backpacks and I feel like they have just such a nice aesthetic. Have you ever heard of the Hyperpack Pro? It's a backpack with apple find my built-in and I think it's quite cool. I haven't bought it so I wonder if you could consider reviewing it? It is around 200$ so it's quite an investment.
Hey man, any other bags that has the internal water bottle pocket? I know the 1st gen nomatic navigator 15l had it but now its like a pull out type one. Love the idea of internal but not quite sold on this belroy
I prefer the look of the older Bellroy Transit 20L and 28L models. The new version with the side bottle slot looks uglier, while the original design was much sleeker. Bellroy should bring back the discontinued Black 20L (NOT Midnight which isn't as good) , which they used in all their marketing videos but is only available used now. Plus, each color on the Transit uses a different fabric, and the old Black 20L was the best one. They really need to bring it back.
The lack of a righ-handed use side-handle has become a deal breaker for me. I just think side handles make life so much more beautiful that I am simply not open to give that up. Other than than, very cool pack. I wish it didn't have those internal straps, but I guess they could be cut off.
@@Nomads.Nation I would agree they are far more needed on a travel pack. Putting it on and setting it down becomes much more manageable. However, they are still nice to have on smaller bags. My smallest bag is the Aer Slim Pack which is only about 8.5 L; it still has a side handle, and I very much appreciate it that it does.
Bellroy accessories like watchbands and wallets are garbage... but their bags are pretty great. I have a couple of their backpacks, a sling and pouches for cables and toiletries.
Bellroy bags are known for their killer aesthetic, and one thing that significantly helps the aesthetic of the bag is having a curved bottom. Self-standing bags are a lot more functional, but because of their boxy nature they look much more clunky on your back
@@namcanguyen8781 I don't have it with me now so I can't double check, but I would not refer to this as a self-standing bag. Maybe reach out to Bellroy customer support, they might be able to give you more details though
The blue is nice but too dark👎🏼 Bellroy’s backpacks are so aesthetically pleasing but each one always has a dealbreaker for me. I love their slings ❤ and my husband loves their wallets.
The transit workpack second gen seems more like the pro upgrade. Almost feel like this should have been called something else entirely. Hate that it's removed the vertical zip pocket from the front
@@Nomads.Nation 2nd gen transit 20l, has external water bottle, internal side drop pocket, luggage pass through, internal colours are the same as og but that's no bad thing. Will definitely cater for ppl who aren't pleased with the updates to the pro you'd assume. Solid update
@JordanAppleby these Pro versions seem like downgrades aesthetically. I agree that the 2nd version 20L seems like the right update for the line. Hoping the 28L gets a refresh as well as that's my favorite large EDC/minimal travel backpack to date.
@JordanAppleby hopefully! They've also done that before discontinuing lines as well. I just want one of the side bottle pockets to be a deep external one, slightly more robust shoulder straps, and the dream would be YKK 10's for the main access and laptop but that's unlikely
Great video! Love your work. I'm curious about the stashed pocket in the laptop compartment of the 22L bag. Is it large enough to fit Alpaka's Elements Tech Case (standard size, not mini or max)? Could you check and let me know if it's a snug fit or if there's plenty of space? If it doesn't fit in the 22L, does it fit in the 28L?
Thanks so much! I’m not with the bags currently so can’t check but maybe check with Bellroy customer support - provide them the dimensions and they can probably get you sorted 💪🏻
Hey Aaron, what is the maximum water bottle size that would fit the Transit Workpack Pro 28L? Also, would you be reviewing the Transit Workpack 2nd Edition (20L) anytime soon?
not sure about the water bottle, I’d recommend asking bellroys dedicated customer support team, they’ll get you sorted. No plans for the Transit Workpack 2nd edition yet but we’ll try!
Great review. I'm looking for a do it all backpack (edc+travel) in the 25-30L range, and the 28L Transit workpack pro is a good contender. Able Carry's new MAX EDC looks very appealing as well, do you plan to review it soon ?
I just bought the Workpack for a trip in September, but watching this video I don’t feel like I’m missing out. The strap padding does look nice for when the bag is fully packed out, but a bit overkill for lighter carry days. And I prefer the vertical zip of the front pocket on the OG.
Bellroy was about to get my money with this well designed and great looking pack…until…I saw the outlandish price. Nevermind! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, REI Ruckpack 28L has many of the same features and aesthetics for a fraction of the price. Quit sleeping on this pack Aaron!
I’ll be sure to check it out! I agree the Bellroy is very expensive and the REI is much more accessibly priced, but the Bellroy looks much much more premium in my opinion (which helps rationalize the price point for many)
I think I have to revise this comment slightly. Seems they have a 2nd edition of the original, and it's listed separately than these "Pro" versions. You are spot on, with Bellroy having a lot of SKUs--enough to confuse. Yet the 2nd edition Transit/Transit Workpack are listed as 20L/28L and the Pro is 22L/28L?

BellRoy backpacks don't have a polyethylene frame sheet like other brands, EverGoods, TomBhin? Is that why they are so light?
a contributing factor for sure, plus lighter materials and overall simpler construction in general

I like the upgraded shoulder straps and back panel. Rather have the other vertical zipper for quick access. I’m indifferent with the water bottle slot

They just rotated the front pocket from an easy access as you take 1 strap off and pull across your chest, and moved it to the top.
💯
