Thanks for the tip on those touch switches, Mark. I told my wife it was your fault I bought some. 🙂🙂 Seven inches or so of snow today here in SE Missouri. That's a lot for us.
I know what you mean. I wanted this so bad when I was a pup, but never got it. I was so excited to see it at the show, and for a great price. It's going to be a bit until I can get back to it. I'm waiting on a cool base to be made.
Nice. I'll be gutting all the gears and rotating assembly when I build mine since I'll just have a large programmable LED panel and won't need any of the rest of that stuff. That capacitive touch switch is neat and, like you say, can be used for a bunch of other stuff so I may be getting some as well even if I don't use it for the blimp. Be sure to include a 'lights out' shot in your next video so we can really see those graphics when it's in the dark.
That is so awesome Mark... They make a small servo motor that is quite and might work. They are DC so might be worth looking into. Could get a LCD screen and use a Arduino for the sign. 🤔 LLAP 🖖
I just need to take the motor to a hobby shop and see what they have. My stepper motor was way too big for what I wanted to do. I thought of an LCD screen, but I wanted to keep it more stock than that.
When I chip a tooth on a manual transmission I have to polish up that tooth or it screams like that. I think the only way you'd be able make it quiet is to round the edges of every tooth. That would be a lot of teeth to polish. I wonder if painting the gears would quiet them down.
I am not going to do anything with the gears until I find a stepper motor with the right shaft size. That way it'll be direct drive and whisper quiet. LOL
Very nice! I wonder if you couldn't do something with an Arduino to make it look like it's moving? Or maybe a direct drive motor, since you'll have the wire running up there anyway.
We are very close to Akron, and we go past the Blimp Hanger. . . Man that is so big. It has to be 3 football fields under roof, and at least 150 foot tall.
You always have some awesome Builds going on 👍🏿 keep up the great work
Thank you so much.
Sent you a email Leon!
Super Cool!!! Great idea using that touch switch. Thanks for sharing, can't wait to see the final reveal. Have a great weekend.

Thank you very much, and have a great weekend too.

Ha Ha Ha, I'm glad I can be your scape goat. Wow, seven inches of snow is a lot anywhere!!!!! We only got about 3 last night.
nice internals on the GY blimp. I love the older mechanical workings on these models. Thanks for sharing and the narration.
Thank you very much. I totally agree. Just wish it was quieter. LOL
I remember this kit on the shelf. I always wanted it. Excited to see more. I'll be watching

as they say grandpa mark's another build done my friend.and were getting more snow in geauga county.
It's getting so close. So far we've been lucky with the snow, but dang I'm ready for warmer weather.
Very Impressive and so much fun to follow!!
Thank you so much.
That lighting is really cool! Way to figure it all out!
This way makes it so I can use anything from 24 volts to 5.5 and still run a 1.5 volt led. So cool.

I'm not good enough to figure up the LED panel. That would be so cool. I will do a lights out shot when I get it al set up.
I was wondering what happened to the blimp. It's going to be really cool when you get done. I'll be watching.👍
I keep jumping back to it when I'm all caught up. It's going to be on hold again until I get the base of the Texaco station done now.
Damn cool build!!!!
Thank you very much.
Looking good 😎😁
Thanks. It's a fun little kit.
Yes Sir...she is LOUD!
Ha Ha, she sure is. Wow.
Yes, had the original back in the 1970s
It's so cool.

@@grandpamarkshobbies Got ya, just thoughts... Lol 🖖
Heck no, it's a good one. I just have to get off my duff. LOL
Wow🏆✅
Thank you

@@grandpamarkshobbiesThat makes more sense. 😂
I hope so. LOL
Really neat Mark, could you convert the gears to a belt drive?
I am not going to do anything with the gears until I find a stepper motor with the right shaft size. I Will Not Give Up.

This is so cool! We pass the Goodyear blimp’s mooring (is that what you call it?) place when we go to our son’s college!

The one near us is uncovered. It looks like a giant helipad. So cool to see it tied down there!
Can’t wait to see the finished build on this!
I love watching them come in and hook up to that big triangle thing. So cool.
