Hi 12,000 miles on my sas, absolutely no issues. Maybe not ideal to take your hands of the bars in the first place. Always turn it on let the bike go through the start up before I hit the button, no preload issues. I guess everyone different I have the comfort seat and did 550 miles from the black forest home in one hit just stopped for fuel and it wasn't that bad at all. Best bike I've owned and had quite a few over my 30 years of riding
Hi Steve, yes its not a great idea but the high speed wobble, my hands were fully on the grips. Ive later found out it is an issue with the suspension (its not broke) that they need to write some code to not allow you soften the suspension fully while hitting high speeds, especially with a lot of luggage on the back. Apparently the suspension goes too soft for the bike. And thats what causes the high speed death wobble. also it can be the mirrors and topbox. It wont be loaded like that again if I can help it so it will be fine. Fasty
Cracking vid that is pal, Do you think the KTM alignment jig was jiggered when they assembled your bike? shame they didn't sell them with Lithium or gel batteries isn't it, batteries fit for purpose. I understand why they sell them with the batteries that they come with, it's all about cost innit. I think it wouldn't be impossible for a motorcycle manufacturer to sell a stock road/touring bike with a decent seat and a battery that can fulfil the requirements of the engine management systems. Hiya mate, thanks, no apparently they dont balance the wheels correctly with the tires. So you have to have them done when you change them, or get them balanced again. it just needs my touches and it will be fine pal. dont get me wrong I love the bike, just need to make it mine. Good to hear you niggles with this bike. I have the tiger 1200 Rally pro 2022. Just back from a 2700 mile trip to Italy. Last day I rode 850 miles back from Grenoble to Lancashire and very comfy. I have had high speed wobbles on bikes before especially when you have panniers on. However on the tiger I have not had wobbles at all. One thing that made me choose the tiger was a press bike I took to Switzerland and back last august and was so impressed with it. Not a fan of KTM but love to hear owners thoughts. Great vid thanks 🙏

Yer the death wobbles are annoying TBH but Ive found the solution so its all good. I do like the look of the 1200 rally pro, looks good in them colours, but would i swap it for the KTM? hard to say. I've always fancied the 1290 Super Adventure. Unfortunately it's stories like this that put me off. There's no doubt that engine is an incredible motor but the high speed stability issue sounds scary. I guess an after-market seat with softer padding might solve the comfort issues. Hope you can get it set up to better suit you. Cheers and take care
I would take on out mate, they are brilliant apart from the things i mention. I've sorted the high and low wobbles out, I just need to remember never to put it in the softest setting while loaded up. Also, ive been out today with the seat in the highest position and it seem to be a little better. Fasty-Rides
@@FastyRides Just got my 1290 SAS last week, so am still breaking in. That includes reading the manual 30 times to figure this thing out, lol. I do remember the manual says softest is for lower speeds; if the bike is loaded heavily I would guess that means soft is a bad idea at any speed. I've been on a goldwing with the preload set too soft for the weight, and it was like riding in a boat and not in a good way. I also have a 390Adv that I've ridden for hours at a time. The KTM stock seats suck. I'm like you - I get two hours in on one and my legs hurt, esp the bottom of my thighs. The ergo seat is kind of interesting... The stock seats get worse the more hours in them, and the ergo seems to start bad but never get any worse, at least on the 390. Just ordered my 1290 ergo seat so I'll see if that turns out to be the same. Subbed to the channel! Stay safe, have fun.

I had those Avon Spirit GT's on my RT when I got it. Superb tyres, great in the dry, not too bad in the wet. I found the Road 5's better in the wet. One word of warning on those Avons, I went out on a ride thinking I had about another 500-750 miles in them. We did 205 miles and the ass end felt twitchy. I stopped to look, and the wire was showing through. They gave up really quick at the end

I remember reading that there have been issues with headstock bearings not being tightened properly. Apparently it’s a quick adjustment that sorts the issue.
Glad you've sorted the wobble out mate, nothing more distracting and unnerving at speed , should of stuck with BMW , and when you finally see the light you'll get a Triumph 😉🤣🤣

Re stability: this has been an ongoing issue, also with the former model. Tightening up front fork head bearing should resolve the problem. Of other things it could be the wheel unbalanced, but I think that's less likely than the bearing. I had a 2019SAS, dead stable even at speeds over 235km/h, with full luggage .) I did >54.000 kilometers with the 2019 SAS. Only had one niggle, which was taken care of by warranty (starter clutch or torque converter). But it never stopped the bike, just made some whining sounds and cold fail now and then. Turning ignition off/on always resolved it. There can be issues with everything. I have several friends with 2022-2023 1290SAS. All in all they've not had more issues than beemer friends. In fact, less. Cheers.

That wobble sounds scary, my ER5 wobbles when I take my hands off the bars and the seat is uncomfortable for me, I'm also finding riding extremely fatiguing, probably a case of not being bike fit and/or my health condition, or I could just be getting old 🤔It's only when you spend some time with a bike you really get to find these things out, easy to miss on a quick test ride. Oh and I can only imagine what the thrust of your bike feels like, the sub 50hp of the ER is blowing me away currently! way more than enough for me.
I agree with you. these are the things you dont feel on a test ride. I get it that they have to make the bike for everyone, but death wobbles at high speeds, Sure they could write something into the code that would stop you going fully soft when over a curtain speed. Comfort, I just need to get a better seat or have these altered to suit. I gather your enjoying the ER5 then? It will be a big difference from the Dax. Fasty-Rides
@@FastyRides The biggest plus is being able to dispatch slow cars and get into clear air, on slower bikes you get stuck around these what I consider to be dangerous drivers, I might try a pad on the seat but it is the way it is canted forward that is the issue I reckon putting my weight in one area rather than spreading it out more if the seat were more level.
@@Peakwanderer I think it's the same issue for me too. Mine is on the lowest setting. So might just lift it up and see how that feels. But yes getting stuck behind drivers is crap, and dangerous. Get past the melts as soon as possible. Fasty.
I have the same issue on the twin when fully loaded. It scares the crap out of me, but it’s only when loaded up. You would of thought that KTM would of put a lithium battery on it as standard.

I dont notice it to be honest mate, probably because ive either got a bunch of idiots in the comms rabbiting on or music playing. But I have heard a lot of people complain about. Also i notice the manual say 40mm adjustment. seems a little high. I also know another guy who runs his chain tighter than recommended. Fasty-Rides
If your loaded and potentially badly with balance issues, what on earth do you expect?... as for the rest, I don't have one issue - maybe your doing KTM a disservice when a lot of riders dont have the same issues.

When you installed the BHP map did you still have all the other ride modes?

@@FastyRides Yeah I got the bar risers. In hindsight I should have gone for the tallest. If you're taller, then consider those.
