And the traveler is always treated as being alone too unless you’re in a certain quest where you’re given a character as a trial in a battle, like shenhe in liyue fighting Beisht. So traveler doing everything is canon
The fun of model swaps is that it's weird seeing characters do animation that is just out-of-character of them. Meanwhile, I could see Lumine pulling off all these poses because she's picking them up from her adventure.

There has to be some big brain design thing that makes her a flexible “template”… it would make sense since in the game, everyone starts with her/aether. What’s interesting is that she still stands out as an individual despite being so “flexible”. As someone who likes character designing, that’s so coolll!

She feels like a neutral canvas, yet she’s so expressive at times. I was working on a character similar to Lumine actually,, a traveler finding a home. But I personally found it very challenging to design a character that can both resonate to the player and be its own distinguished character too. Props to the designers for that!

So I THINK anything with the medium female rig should...mostly work with Lumine, and probably most of the Medium male animations. I bet if you tried this with the tall males you'd get some really weird stretching.
I would say less big brain and more cut corners since the only real difference between characters of the same body type is animation/clothing/makeup/misc colors. The actual models are generally identical.
this video truly shows how well hoyo designed her as an MC. a blank slate for the players to put them self in yet not too blank to make her look soulless. She could fit in any role and be mold into any personality either the dev and the player can imagine and deliver it very well.

I mean, when you think about it, this actually portrays what we know of Lumine's personality remarkably well. Based on what we get from cutscenes and her conversations with Paimon that we have access to from her character menu, it would seem most of the time Lumine is a little bit of a goofball with an extremely sassy side who's also got more than a bit of a competitive streak and is just a tad bit cocky... But she can also be surprisingly empathetic... And Celestia help her enemies when she gets all scary serious mode.

It's also laughable to genuinely think that any fictional character can have a fraction of the depth even the blandest of humans have.
Actually, the whole stiff deal does happen here quite often, and there's nothing the uploader can do about it, because it's how the game's engine works. The physics are baked on the models, they don't really exist independently and this video proved that. Pay attention to the following details details: 1. Lumine's skirt only moves properly when she does the animations of either characters that also have long skirts like her (Barbara, Yunjin, Noele, Ayaka) or characters that have some sort of coat whose lower part moves when they do things (Xingqiu, Sucrose). 2. Lumine's scarf only moves properly when she does the animations of characters that have some sort of long cloth strands/capes on the upper back of their outfits (Sucrose, Mona). 3. Her hair only moves properly when she does the animations of characters that have hair movement on their hair on the sides close to their face (Hu Tao, Ayaka, somewhat Noele). If you watch closely, every other aspect not mentioned in this list above remains stiff when doing the animations. For example, her hair and scarf don't move in Barbara's animations, only the skirt; or everything was stiff with Kokomi's because she had neither a skirt/coat, cape/cloth strands or hair close to the face moving during her animations.

i’ve always seen her as the expressive one, able to change emotions to match situations. Aether seems like the calmer one who is like the older sibling to the younger rowdy one. Lumine has her moments when she’s appearing dark and very brooding as the abyss queen, while Aether looks more upset and heartbroken due to the separation? Like he can’t protect his little sister anymore lol
I think its because of Aether being the character usually in the trailers, but I see Lumine immediately taking to the world and just enjoying the experience and having fun like the dimension hoping adventurer she and her brother once were, while Aether is more desperate, trying to clear the journey amd reunite with her, but slowly falling in love the world throughout his travel and friends.
Or who think that lesbians and bi people don't exist and that ads are "lore". Anyway, I never understood or cheered for them, nor do I side with Lumine fans who would just want their character to be the canon one even though it's the same exact toxic thing those other players do. HoYo gave us the choice to choose either an mc with a d or with boobs, and it just so happens that nothing else changes throughout the story based on that choice besides Jeht having a crush on Lumine if we pick her but not Aether. That's literally the only change, and it's in favor of Lumine weirdly. So it really doesn't matter.

Lumine is already such a beautiful and elegant queen, but seeing her being extremely cute and carefree in these idles is truly a blessing and a beautiful sight ❤️ she's one of my favorite characters in this game, so watching this brings me great joy
I just see this as Lumine slowly picking up and learning things from all the people she's met in Teyvat so far. Alchemy from Sucrose, opera from Yun Jin, elegance from Ayaka. My girl is learning it all.
They got the balance between the mc being their own character and being a reflection of the player at the same time just right, thats why this works so well

Wow, this is exactly how I imagine Luminne when she adventures around the continent and interacts with people in her "daily life." This gives her so much more character!
This is like we are spending so much time with the characters, that we kinda become like them. Seeing this, it made what I want to want it even more. That being the option to choose and switch between any weapon type for the traveler. They might not completely be a self-insert character, but they are close enough and imo, the purpose of a self-insert character is being able to customize them as much as possible. So in Genshin, I'd like at the very least the option to use any weapon type (traveler canonically already knows how to use at least a bow - from Inazuma Archon quest part 2). In that case, they could even link the Normal Attack talent to the weapon type, instead of the element, current situation being kinda preposterous - even the Normal attack talent isn't shared between elements while the Normal/Charged/Plunge attacks don't seem to change in any way (at least for now) (Wind blade and Geo hit are ascension passives, not a part of Normal attack talent).
honestly it's entirely possible that Lumine is actually switching weapons lorewise anyway. there's no way that the other characters that players use are actually following along on the journey so lorewise any character switching is probably just the Traveller doing a fighting style switch

I feel like Lumine is one of the types of models that could have like any personality and is just very flexible
I mean, when you think about it, this actually portrays what we know of Lumine's personality remarkably well. Based on what we get from cutscenes and her conversations with Paimon that we have access to from her character menu, it would seem most of the time Lumine is a little bit of a goofball with an extremely sassy side who's also got more than a bit of a competitive streak and is just a tad bit cocky... But she can also be surprisingly empathetic... And Celestia help her enemies when she gets all scary serious mode.

Actually, the whole stiff deal does happen here quite often, and there's nothing the uploader can do about it, because it's how the game's engine works. The physics are baked on the models, they don't really exist independently and this video proved that.
Pay attention to the following details details:
1. Lumine's skirt only moves properly when she does the animations of either characters that also have long skirts like her (Barbara, Yunjin, Noele, Ayaka) or characters that have some sort of coat whose lower part moves when they do things (Xingqiu, Sucrose).
2. Lumine's scarf only moves properly when she does the animations of characters that have some sort of long cloth strands/capes on the upper back of their outfits (Sucrose, Mona).
3. Her hair only moves properly when she does the animations of characters that have hair movement on their hair on the sides close to their face (Hu Tao, Ayaka, somewhat Noele).
If you watch closely, every other aspect not mentioned in this list above remains stiff when doing the animations. For example, her hair and scarf don't move in Barbara's animations, only the skirt; or everything was stiff with Kokomi's because she had neither a skirt/coat, cape/cloth strands or hair close to the face moving during her animations.

i’ve always seen her as the expressive one, able to change emotions to match situations. Aether seems like the calmer one who is like the older sibling to the younger rowdy one. Lumine has her moments when she’s appearing dark and very brooding as the abyss queen, while Aether looks more upset and heartbroken due to the separation? Like he can’t protect his little sister anymore lol

I think its because of Aether being the character usually in the trailers, but I see Lumine immediately taking to the world and just enjoying the experience and having fun like the dimension hoping adventurer she and her brother once were, while Aether is more desperate, trying to clear the journey amd reunite with her, but slowly falling in love the world throughout his travel and friends.
and then there is abyss lumine who seems to be colder than abyss aether...
The ones who hate Lumine are those who have a main character syndrome who imagine that Aether has a harem and doesn't even know what a "Friend" is.

Anyway, I never understood or cheered for them, nor do I side with Lumine fans who would just want their character to be the canon one even though it's the same exact toxic thing those other players do.
HoYo gave us the choice to choose either an mc with a d or with boobs, and it just so happens that nothing else changes throughout the story based on that choice besides Jeht having a crush on Lumine if we pick her but not Aether. That's literally the only change, and it's in favor of Lumine weirdly. So it really doesn't matter.

This is like we are spending so much time with the characters, that we kinda become like them.
Seeing this, it made what I want to want it even more. That being the option to choose and switch between any weapon type for the traveler. They might not completely be a self-insert character, but they are close enough and imo, the purpose of a self-insert character is being able to customize them as much as possible. So in Genshin, I'd like at the very least the option to use any weapon type (traveler canonically already knows how to use at least a bow - from Inazuma Archon quest part 2). In that case, they could even link the Normal Attack talent to the weapon type, instead of the element, current situation being kinda preposterous - even the Normal attack talent isn't shared between elements while the Normal/Charged/Plunge attacks don't seem to change in any way (at least for now) (Wind blade and Geo hit are ascension passives, not a part of Normal attack talent).
honestly it's entirely possible that Lumine is actually switching weapons lorewise anyway. there's no way that the other characters that players use are actually following along on the journey so lorewise any character switching is probably just the Traveller doing a fighting style switch
