Thank you, Travis. Moving around is something I will be doing also if I retire there. There are too many people to meet and too many places to see. :) I'm a COD fan. WOW. Beautiful house. I may just stay in hotels, my monthly budget for rent is $800 or so, and I want a pool and gym. Congrats on the new place. I think you have convinced me to fly into Da Nang first, it's centrally located in VN and it won't be overwhelming at first look. Thanks again.

Ya I would fly into DN, stay in a hotel for a few days and start looking for an apartment. You will definitely find a nice place with gym and pool for $800. Then you can have a homebase and go explore some other places whenever you want.

I'm going to try to make it to that. Have a great weekend. :)

That's a great deal! Just found your channel. I moved to Da Nang from Miami 2 years ago. We live in the Euro Village area and love it. Agreed that not being so close to the beach here isn't that much of a factor as it's super-easy and cheap to get there. Also great to hear someone say they prefer the Viet-culture. My wife is Vietnamese and I've been coming here since 2009. I actually seek out that side as opposed to the My Ahn area.

Do you need to get an international phone plan from Verizon, AT & T or T-Mobil to keep your U.S. phone number active and just in case if you have fraudulent activity from your bank in the U.S. to send you notifications? Also, do you need to have a VPN (Virtual Private Network) for safe Internet access to check your U.S. Bank in Viet Nam? I also want to move from California to Viet Nam soon and would like your insights and personal experience to answer those 2 questions for me and for other viewers who might have the same questions like me.

Good luck, keep in touch and send me a message if you have any other questions.

Subletting is not super common here. I think it is definitely possible you will just have to talk with the owner and make sure it is allowed in the contract. There are tennis courts available.

@@TravisTravelsVN ….I am here in Da Nang. Been talking to at least 3 different realtors. Found out they take in more than 10% from their clients. Also, can’t rent a house for just a month. My best bet is to rent “Căn Hộ" (furnished apartments). Stopped listening to Realtor and found a place for myself for a great price. I am in the process of reinstating my VN citizenship so I can buy land and build my house here. That way, when I fly to VN, I can stay in my house without apartment hunting.
