Look everyone this is the real world we now live in, high prices is the new normal so we just have to do our research and pick an island and when you we get there just adjust and go with the flow and we will be alright, one of the main reasons i am moving to Barbados is the warm people, and the very low crime rate we cannot have it all in one basket, i rather pay a little more for food and be able to walk the streets at night comfortable and that is Barbados.
Please post more of these... Im doing the 12 month visitor thing ... The last time I was in BB was 2014... I found it to be really expensive.... but maybe you can do a video about the different neighborhoods??
I'm from New York, this doesn't seem more than what I spend on groceries here. Especially taking in mind the conversion rate. This is somewhat reassuring. Helpful video!
Love your content, Jamie. I don't know if you've done a makeup tutorial or a GRWM video but if not, it would be amazing because you totally glow 😊 I am with you on the danish - such a weakness for me lol.
It doesn’t make sense flipping here and there to save a few cents because what you save will be spent commuting and for the suggestion to buy fruits and vegetables from vendors most of the time their prices are more exorbitant than the shop and considering that they are sometimes exposed to the sun cooking them before you get them. also you will find that you will get one item at either of those places at a reasonable price and something else more expensive so you have to decide unless it is really ridiculous whether to do the flipping from place to place.
Yep, I mentioned them at the end of my video. I don’t usually shop there, but I would go to Jordan’s sometimes because it was close to where I live and convenient when I’ve ran out of something.
Cariblist is a really great website. Barbados Property Search is another helpful site. Even if you don't find something on those sites, there are rental agents that you can get in touch with via the Sites and they usually know other places that aren't listed on the page. Hope this helps!
You're too classy. Massy at Sunset Crest seem to recruit their staff from modelling agencies. When I'm in Barbados I shop at Price Lo in Sargents Village.
Hello everyone! :D You said $219 total for the month. But then you said for the Week! WHICH ONE?? O.O OMG $900 a MONTH in groceries??? O.O for ONE PERSON??? it's insane! How?? I think we pay $90 here for two people. Yes $90. We don't eat any of the things you eat though. Mostly eat rice, fresh vegetables, a little meat, drink water or coffee no milk, some fruit. $900 How do the people in BBD survive? The GDP is only $19,000 per person per YEAR!
No no, that’s what I spent for the week! (I have it in the description box that I made the mistake). Like I mentioned, it varies on a weekly basis, but yes, a lot of families spend upwards of $500 to 800 a month on groceries!

When I was growing up here in the sixties, we used butter to bake with. I think the younger people did learn how to cook an bake the right way

Hey Jamie, thanks for sharing, do you shop at the local markets / pop up farmers markets? This for plant based, less processed diets?
