    Oh man, that is brilliant! I have a couple of the garbage soda stream adapters that only have a tiny screw in the middle of it and I always lose a ton of CO2 when switching bottles. I always dread changing bottles because of this and sometimes I have to adjust the little screw in the adaptor to make it just right which means I lose even more CO2 having to try it over and over again.
    I need one of those but I need one for Swedish/European soda stream threads.

    I put a setup like this together about 9 years ago. Things have come so far!
    It's really convenient using paintball canisters because they can be filled for $6 at most sporting goods stores, you can keep a full backup on hand, and they are cheap to replace when they go out of registration.
    I've run into a lot of the same problems you guys did;
    - angles are difficult to manage. gas line exits downward. gas line from the tank to keg comes loose, leaks, knocks things over, etc.
    - heavy full size regulator (for use with a keg) tips the canister over
    - regulator dial broke pretty quick from tipping over. I now just carbonate it then disconnect it.
    - bleed valve is a necessity.
    - mismatch of stainless, black al, brass, plastic looks messy.
    - whole setup is small but unwieldy.
    I have pin lock angled plastic and brass taps. They're just okay. The pin locks are a bit finicky and have drained kegs of gas or beer on many occasions. The metal is nice, but the incorperation of plastic makes them easier to break than I would like. I would have gone full metal, ball lock, at a right angle if it were available at the time.
    On the dispensing side I started with a cheap faucet. I bought a nice handle to get more leverage opening and closing the faucet. Then I upgraded to a Perlick creamer. The creamer function is pointless but the front sealing design is SOO much better. I bought a restrictor/flow control to avoid unwanted foaming but found warm beer spoils to quick, foam isn't an issue with cold beer - I run it opened 90% of the time, and it makes the faucet stick out too far. It's chrome plated and has gotten all dinged up. I got rid of the nice handle and keep the setup in the fridge. If I were to do it again I would have gone with a basic front sealing stainless faucet.
    Watching this video makes me want to revamp my setup! Metal ball lock connections, this regulator, ball lock taps.
    Damn... you can't buy them in the US :(
    Or the Maltzilla - just purchased a mill and I would have bought that one had it been available.

    These are awesome, managed to snag one in the 10 minutes they were available last time and the few preliminary tests i have done it works well with no leaks. It is bloody solid so any falls and knocks it not going to worry it
    Only thing, from the factory, the bottom bushing was on really tight, i needed to put it in a vise and use a spanner to get it loose.

    I have an issue refilling my 60l sodastream c02 tanl. I'm in the US and mine have the newer (type b?) threads that are more finicky. I use a 5lb co2 with the standard CGA320 valve. I have an adapter, which I got from some third party distributor off the internet, but is much like the others... brass, has a pressure release pin, TR21.4 to CGA320 adapter. I can't tell if the adapter is bad or if the brass screw that's inside it is not at the correct position, or if my 5lb's tanks valve just simply releases too much pressure... but I am having big problems getting c02 into my soda stream tanks. It seems by luck, like 1 and every 10 tries, I can get 50-100ml of co2 into the tank. BTW, I believe my tank is non-siphoned so I do hold it upside down. I also freeze my soda stream tanks before trying to refill them.
    I am hoping that by using a regulator I could solve these issues. Would a regulator mean that I can control the pressure heading into the soda stream container, ensuring that I never cause the soda stream' TR21.4 pin to lock? I want a reliable refill every single time. Would buying a regulator such as this ensure that?
    I am also looking into a direct connection from my soda stream to the 5lb co2 tank. I am concerned about taste, as many have reviewed that with this setup that any gas left sitting into the tube will impact the flavor of the water. Can anyone pin point as to why this bad taste happens? And perhaps to a similar set up that designs this problem out?

    I just bought one of this and I can't find any information about if the regulator can go in the fridge when performing force carbonation. I have read that some regulators have problems with CO2 condensation while being in the fridge.

    • @KegLand
      @KegLand  Год назад

      It all comes down to flow rate. If you are just carbonating one keg the reality is it will be fine but if the regulator freezes up it can hold the regulator valve pin open and cause the gas to continue to flow. The goods news is this regulator has been designed with all the high pressure components that are tolerant to liquid co2 so it will not damage the regulator and worst case scenario the PRV will open and then you just wait for the regulator to come back up to room temperature or fridge temperature. So i would advice you to just give it a go.

    How long would one of these run the 8L kegs on a soda stream bottle? I already have soda stream in the house, and refill my own bottles from a 20lb cylinder.
    Going to be building a keezer as I get back into home brewing, and I was faced with either buying another CO2 cylinder, or somehow rigging up something so my 20lb cylinder could run the keezer but also still fill my soda stream, and not be a PITA.
    These regulators seem like a really good ticket. I was going to ask if you can T the CO2 output to run more than one keg on it, but the fact that it has 2 outputs answers the question for me.
    Have the equipment purchased for a 2 keg keezer, but always thought it would be nice to have the ability for more, however my freezer I think will only hold 2 corny kegs.
    However, the fact that I could pack the 8L PET kegs around the 2 cornys and run more taps, all while using a soda stream bottle to power it, is very intriguing.
    Does a soda stream bottle have enough in it to run a 19L corny keg efficiently enough? Would you still force carbonated from a larger tank? Or can you do that with a soda stream as well?
    I have only played around with the 4L kegs (like a Hendrix Keg) I can carb with one of those little 16gram CO2 cartridges and dispense with another, so thinking that a 400gram soda stream bottle could do a corny keg with no issues.

      This should really be opperated in the upright position. Hey guys,
    I haven't been on FB in over a year, couldn't stand the drama. Do you think you will ever use a different platform for your community forum and promo codes

    • @KegLand
      @KegLand  4 года назад

      Which platform do you use. We would certainly consider it.

      @@KegLand not a lot available, I guess Instagram is there but not so much as a community forum. Kegland should think about hosting a forum on your site :)

      @@jmgacousticmusic Thanks for that. We are looking at building a new website at the moment so I will talk to the other guys about this. Yes we should definitely have instagram as well so we will also use this more in future. Thanks for your feedback.

    Sounds like you fully appreciate how O-rings work Kee, as opposed to most of the hacks flogging homebrew gear.. sigh.

    Do you actually reply on any platform? I've tried several emails, facebook, twitter, the form on your site. Impressively shite coms even for a beer based company boys.

      Was this over the christmas period. We were closed and all staff were on holiday from 25th December until Monday 9th Jan. If you send us an email now at beer@kegland.com.au I am fairly confident you will get a replay soon. I was not aware we had a twitter account so this method is probably not a good choice. We do periodically check the facebook messages too but really email is preferred.
