Wesley Snipes really was the perfect choice for Blade. He had the look, voice, physique, vibe and was a martial artist badass. He fit the role perfectly.

He doesn't have another guy switch in to do the challenging martial arts stuff. He does it himself. Although MCU Cap and DCEU Batman are awesome, Chris Evans and Ben Affleck have their stunt double do a lot of, if not all, of the choreography when it comes to the challenging martial arts stuff (kicks, somersaults, throws, etc)
Those fights in blade 2 might still hold up as the best hand to hand scenes in all of comic book movies. The level of expertise from Snipes just jumps off the screen.

His a very talented man, my Grandmother told he grew up with my uncle and use to tapdance. I look up to him as an Actor and most of all as a Martial artist. I still remember when he had that Martial Arts TV event on TNT because of Blade.
The awesome thing about Blades characters is that Wesley Snipes is a legitimate martial artist. Blades fighting styles are the actual actors martial arts abilities. So all you gotta do is look up the arts Snipes holds Dan ranks in and there you go.

It reminds me of a discussion we had under a video of yours, maybe an year ago (of course, i couldn't have been the only one, but still...) about reverse punches for karate and roundhouse kicks for taekwondo. This also speaks volumes of you as a youtuber and a person, for listening to suggestions from fans and improving the content as such. Kudos

I'm glad you caught the pro wrestling brain buster and I totally missed the capoeira kick he did to Frost but I thought that Blade's Katana would get its own specific fighting style for swordsmanship instead of getting lumped in with wushu. Either way kudos and thanks for this.

No worries. It's just that his striking techniques fit very well with Hapkido and Karate, which he has black belts in. I felt it redundant to include such a similar martial art as well.

Great video Adrian. I saw Blade and Blade 2 for the first time this year and they were good. Wesley Snipes is perfect in the role and the action scenes are great. But there are mediocre aspects of them and some things particularly the CGI that are extremely dated. I'm not watching Blade: Trinity though.
You could take a look at Star Wars characters. Starkiller from the force Unleashed uses kendo and hand to hand techniques that look like judo( head locks neck breaks throws and even what looks like a variation on the sacrifice throw.) the clone in force Unleashed two uses a lot Of wushu.
Went to college with Wesley back in the 80's (SUNY Purchase) On campus he studied Capoiera with Greg Troy and Shotokan with Marcus Del Gato. I remember he was pretty gifted then.
@@Godzillarex He was one of the first people I met on my first day on campus. My RA noticing that I had an interest in capoeira told me that there was someone on campus that teaches it and pointed me in the direction of Wesley who attended the class. Wesley was a very cool guy.
Blade is known to be an anti-hero who is highly determined to rid the Earth of vampires. He is an emotionless hunter, a complete warrior who almost doesn't show anything of his thoughts or feelings. He's always concentrated on his personal crusade, which he lives as a mission, and everything that comes after it. Like Whistler, Blade holds a deep grudge against vampires, mainly because of his mother when she was killed by Deacon Frost and being half-vampire, he has an unquenchable thirst for blood which caused him major problems in his youth. Despite his cold personality, Blade is not without a heart; he saved Karen, a nurse, when she was nearly killed by a vampire and later took her in as a partner. Blade holds a tremendous amount of respect for Abraham Whistler, his mentor, weaponsmith and father figure. Couldn't have summarized it better 💯☕🍩🥯 just perfect. Hopefully he gets his own game in the future. Then they should give it similar game controls and character models as DMC 4 and Ninja Gaiden 3. Showing his superhuman abilities. And also his Shotokan Karate, Hapkido, boxing, Capoeira, Northern Shaolin Kung-Fu, Escrima, Jiu-Jitsu and Ninjutsu. As far as looks, he can be athletically built(with wide shoulders and V-taper) abs, 6 pack and V-line. With a clean shave. Give his trademark tattoos(like in the movie) on his shoulders, arms and back of his neck . And just like Spider Man Shattered Dimensions, he should have a like a sense ability that you can activate (given he's half vampire) to see where you need to go or to detect enemies around you. No f-bombs or sexual content needed nor wanted obviously. Give him his sword, glaves, two spiked knuckle knives, customized Mac-10s (like in the first movie)silver stakes, etc. Along with a similar backstory: Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York City a Daywalker, trained by mentor (Jamal Afari, Whistler or Van Helsing)

The fact that he ends fights quickly with lightning precision is ninja like.
I think that has more to do with him being half vampire than him knowing ninjitsu.

Blade II is one of my favorite films of all time. Until high school it was my favorite film growing up.

Snipes' karate expertise shows with how good he is at the fight chorography. Not many actors can pull it off so naturally.

No worries. It's just that his striking techniques fit very well with Hapkido and Karate, which he has black belts in. I felt it redundant to include such a similar martial art as well.

Great video Adrian. I saw Blade and Blade 2 for the first time this year and they were good. Wesley Snipes is perfect in the role and the action scenes are great. But there are mediocre aspects of them and some things particularly the CGI that are extremely dated. I'm not watching Blade: Trinity though.

You could take a look at Star Wars characters. Starkiller from the force Unleashed uses kendo and hand to hand techniques that look like judo( head locks neck breaks throws and even what looks like a variation on the sacrifice throw.) the clone in force Unleashed two uses a lot Of wushu.
Wesley Snipes is a black belt in a couple of arts it’s cool he mixed it up in these movies.
This was another good video the next character you could do is Black Lightning, Electra, John Wick and Colleen wing from Iron Fist

Went to college with Wesley back in the 80's (SUNY Purchase) On campus he studied Capoiera with Greg Troy and Shotokan with Marcus Del Gato.
I remember he was pretty gifted then.

@@Godzillarex He was one of the first people I met on my first day on campus. My RA noticing that I had an interest in capoeira told me that there was someone on campus that teaches it and pointed me in the direction of Wesley who attended the class. Wesley was a very cool guy.
Blade is known to be an anti-hero who is highly determined to rid the Earth of vampires. He is an emotionless hunter, a complete warrior who almost doesn't show anything of his thoughts or feelings. He's always concentrated on his personal crusade, which he lives as a mission, and everything that comes after it. Like Whistler, Blade holds a deep grudge against vampires, mainly because of his mother when she was killed by Deacon Frost and being half-vampire, he has an unquenchable thirst for blood which caused him major problems in his youth. Despite his cold personality, Blade is not without a heart; he saved Karen, a nurse, when she was nearly killed by a vampire and later took her in as a partner. Blade holds a tremendous amount of respect for Abraham Whistler, his mentor, weaponsmith and father figure. His friendship with Whistler was strong that Blade could not even bear to end his partner of his misery when he was brutally tortured by Deacon Frost and his men. When Whistler sacrificed himself, Blade does through an emotional breakdown and becomes depressed. Although emotionless most of the time, Blade does smile. Evidences is when Whistler is cred and toys with a vampire.
Blade is known to be a lone-wolf type as he completes his missions alone and dislikes using sidekicks. The only exceptions are Karen who was quite useful to Blade and Whistler. He was relatively uncomfortable working with the Bloodpack as they were originally trained to kill him and the Nightstalkers because most of the members are relatively young and not really serious about their job.
Powers and Abilities
Powers
Human- Vampire Hybrid Physiology: Blade is a hybrid, half-human and half-vampire, he has all the powers of the latter's; such as superhuman strength, durability, stamina, speed, senses, an accelerated healing factor, immunity to diseases, illnesses and sickness. But he has none of his kind's weaknesses.
Superhuman Senses : Blade's sense of sight, smell and hearing are heightened to levels comparable to those possessed by true vampires. He is capable of seeing objects with perfect clarity at much greater distances than an ordinary human. He retains this same level of clarity even in near-total darkness. Blade's hearing is similarly enhanced, allowing him to detect sounds that an ordinary human cannot and to be able to hear sounds an ordinary human can, but at greater distances.
Superhuman Strength : Blade possesses the strength of a vampire, equivalent to that of 10 men. Through years of rigorous training and experience, his strength has evolved beyond the limits of typical vampires. This even makes other vampires like Jarko Grimwood fear him.
Superhuman Speed : Blade is capable of running and moving at speeds greater than even the finest human athlete.
Superhuman Agility : Blade's agility, balance and bodily coordination are enhanced to levels that are beyond the natural physical limits of the finest human athlete.
Superhuman Stamina : Blade's musculature generates less fatigue toxins during physical activity than the musculature of an ordinary human. He can exert himself at peak capacity for several hours before fatigue begins to impair him.
Accelerated Healing Factor : Blade, like full vampires, possesses advanced regenerative capabilities that allows him to regenerate from fatal wounds at a much faster pace than normal humans. Like vampires, he is also capable of limb regeneration, aside from the head. Though it will take several hours for his lost body parts to regrow. This regenerative healing power also extends his lifespan to a much greater limit than normal humans.
Abilities
Master Hand-To-Hand Combatant/Martial Artist: Blade is an incredibly skilled master martial artist, having reached a level of mastery in Hapkido, Karate, Jujitsu, Kung-Fu, Capoeira, Jailhouse Boxing and almost every martial arts weapon in existence, which he mixes seamlessly to form his own fighting style. He is able to fight on an even footing against the likes of Deacon Frost, Jared Nomak and Drake using his exceptional fighting prowess (who were more physically superior to him). He can also hold his own against multiple attackers, even against other vampires and reapers.
Weapons Proficiency: Blade is practically proficient in every form of weaponry known to man. His particular specialty is the use of edged weapons, be they teakwood daggers or swords. He is a master in the use of small bladed weapons and can hurl knives with great accuracy. Blade also shows great skill with firearms, including both automatic and semi-automatic, which he often modifies to fire hollow-point, garlic-filled silver bullets.
Weaknesses
Bloodlust: Blade has inherited the vampires' thirst for human blood, which forces him to rely on a special serum to avoid succumbing to his thirst for blood.

Couldn't have summarized it better 💯☕🍩🥯 just perfect. Hopefully he gets his own game in the future. Then they should give it similar game controls and character models as DMC 4 and Ninja Gaiden 3. Showing his superhuman abilities. And also his Shotokan Karate, Hapkido, boxing, Capoeira, Northern Shaolin Kung-Fu, Escrima, Jiu-Jitsu and Ninjutsu. As far as looks, he can be athletically built(with wide shoulders and V-taper) abs, 6 pack and V-line. With a clean shave. Give his trademark tattoos(like in the movie) on his shoulders, arms and back of his neck . And just like Spider Man Shattered Dimensions, he should have a like a sense ability that you can activate (given he's half vampire) to see where you need to go or to detect enemies around you. No f-bombs or sexual content needed nor wanted obviously. Give him his sword, glaves, two spiked knuckle knives, customized Mac-10s (like in the first movie)silver stakes, etc. Along with a similar backstory: Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York City a Daywalker, trained by mentor (Jamal Afari, Whistler or Van Helsing)

I also wanted to add that wesley snipes himself says he also uses kempo & boxing in blade's fighting style too. The first scene with blade/the hallway fight in blade 2, wesley says in the commentary that he uses some of those moves too.
Wesley, as the months went on, started adding fighting styles to increase the hype of the film.
