Excellent harmony. One of the best quartet versions I have heard of this song. Poor Gerald Wolf wants to be a real Gospel bass so bad, he can't stand it. He is very accurate, but not a bass. Very talented young man, though.
From left to right on stage: Gerald Wolfe, Mike Wetzel, Mark Trammell, and Chris Allman. Gerald, Mark, and Chris were the founding members of the group.
Question to anyone who knows the answer: I am not familiar with Mike Wetzel, who was/is he? Someone on a message board offered the suggestion he may have been the bus driver.
+Paul I believe Mike replaced Gerald when he left the Dumplin Valley Trio to join the Cathedrals. Back in the day he traveled with GV as sort of an extra hand, I guess, and sang with them on occasion. Dumplin Valley used to come to my church every year, and I've met him a couple times when he was filling in with them. He's a very nice gentleman. A few years ago he was doing some solo projects, but I don't know what he's up to now.
Scott, that is correct. Mike and Gerald are both from Morristown and Mike's family sang for a number of years so they knew each other from way back. Mike did drive the bus for them some early on, along with other duties such as the occasional appearance on stage. He also replaced Gerald in Dumplin Valley and has filled in on numerous occasions. Kyle Underwood, of Dumplin Valley, and Gerald are very close and go back to Gerald's teenage years when first started into traveling and singing. That's the connection they have with their annual "Praise-Fest" in the Smokies.
There will never be anything like 4 part harmony
Yeah love this song. ❤
Awesome loved ❤ it
Mr. Wolfe has bass techniques. While he may not have a deep enough voice, he's a great singer!
Anyone else think Second Half Quartet should bring this one back?!
I do! What a classic!
