Here's a thing some of us old farts consider when inter-gender wrestling comes up. You can't always win. Sooner or later you have to take a beat down or do a job for someone and that means promoting the image of a man beating up a woman. No one, absolutely no one, comes out of that looking good. Remember that pathetic showing with Joey Buttafuoco? Is that the kind of shit you really want to watch?
One of the reasons I was shocked when they made Jericho the 1st undisputed champ is because like a year and a half before that he was feuding with and getting beat by Chyna.
yeah. i never understood the cult of Jericho. he was good, definitely worth a few world titles, but not amazing. yeah he spoke well for tv, so much he went to vh1 (lol), but not a lot of substance. what catchy line is remembered? i did love the entrance. Jericho's wrestling was really good, but not extremely so, nor extremely athletic. he seemed like a clean cut version of Chris Benoit but who could talk, and not as wrestling pure as Benoit (rip). Jericho's appearance wasn't that assuming either, which is why he could get beat by Chyna. idk i remember him feuding with Christian for intercontinental title, he was about the same size. guess that's why he ended up as a sort of Roddy Piper character with the highlight reel, as well as moving up and down the card and putting himself and others over but with only some title runs, not a lot. thus, given the undisputed title as a reward for effort, and several comebacks later on? then again, it didn't help that around Jericho's best time the only heel was Triple H, who made for an overpowered large heel when compared to him and even more when H started jobbing everyone else around him. ideally Jericho would have had a stable to face Evolution for example, but not many good faces were formed or pushed then.
@West Texas Rain lol i liked them both at the time i watched, they were cool and all, but not my favorites tho. Besides, by the time we all found out Benoit was murderously insane, i had stopped watching...
@West Texas Rain yeah it all depended on style i guess, maybe that he seemed skilled but not physically impressive in ring while Benoit did? At any rate, i preferred taker or eddie guerrero lol, earlier stone cold, rock, dx. I can understand tho, Jericho was the best face for a while. Specially at the time Hunter was making everyone job - but he was better as a heel, so him winning so much no wonder the company lost some fans then, and people wanted more chances for Jericho and others just because of wanting something new. After that they did the reverse error, pushed Cena as superman babyface. So of course the show became for the kids again, like in the Hogan days. Add to that the ever more boring names and angles...
@West Texas Rain Beniot was 5'11 while jericho was 6'0. Beniot was leagues better than jericho. More intense and a technical machine. Jericho is not even on kurt angle's level much less benoit, smark.
Even though I wasn't a BIG fan of Chyna, I thought that she had a few decent moves and looked good in the ring. Apparently, according to Him Cornette, it was more a function of the guys who were working with her rather than her talent. Although she eventually got into the HOF, it appears that Jim Cornette DOESN'T feel she deserves it. I THINK that IF she had gotten more training and DIDN'T get involved in the politics, Chyna would've done better a made a better impression on the suits of WWF/WWE.
@charleskuckel3173 I think its expectations Chyna trained with killer kowliski like hunter so people expect her to be better she looked better when she was the bodyguard
I think Jim has some grudge against her How can u pass a verdict one you barely met She must had something that made her competitive in men’s wrestling
No she didn't. Did you watch her matches against men? She rarely beat them clean, and those matches were portrayed as more of a joke rather than to be taken seriously.
What she had was a sexual relationship between the members of DX as they passed her back and forth in the locker room. Chyna got her spot because of who she knew and not because of what she could do. Eventually she was placed into the women's division anyways.
@@raptorspostgametalk27 She didn't beat men clean because WWE at the time wanted to keep legitimacy in the men's division. The product would've drawn more criticism had she beat men clean frequently. Perry Saturn even said it best - her being thrown into competing with women really hurt her because she was already beating on guys and then having to be beat by girls really throws the validity of wrestling. Look at the immense critique Tessa Blanchard got when she won the world title. Booker T had not so nice things to say about it because she won clean and it makes the men look weak. In fact, it makes previous holders of the world title seem like a joke.
Frann Ruíz I believe that. Also much like sable I don't think their was any interest in her learning how to be a better wrestler while in the wwf. imo of course. If I recall correctly (that's a big IF) She was around for some time b4 she ever had a match. So her improvement was hard to judge. Like say Trish. Who obviously got much better during her run. Just not as good as most people claim....once again just my opinion.
j p Yeah Chyna in the WWF had a huge push and it was ridiculous if she didn’t have skill, because someone like Jacqueline had to job to someone like Sable when she could’ve filled Chyna's spot perfectly
@@ruiz1264 you have to remember how things went back then looks were more important than actually being able to wrestle and color was a factor too. Jacqueline should have won title sooner than she did but didn't because Vince didn't by a black women being as marketable plus a lot of the women who could wrestle weren't willing to fuck to move up in the company minus Jacqueline (the stories about her fucking wrestling promoters and wrestlers are legendary).
@@revans100591 yeah, Jacqueline had the same role, but Chyna was white and had the Amazonian look even more, so she sold on tv more. even if lacking somewhat in skills and being a trainwreck personally (if sincere and kind, at least). of course, even if she had those skills and could have gone on the intergender matches, the exceptions do not prove the rule... and even then, Chyna had to get special implants that wouldn't burst. Chyna had a good and memorable gimmick character for the time. no more, no less. there's been better female wrestlers no doubt, but lesser female wrestlers than her have been considered legends.
And there was the time when HGH and her went whining to Vince about Jericho being too rough with her and supposedly giving her a black eye when they were feuding. Her matches were fucking terrible.

I couldn't care less if something bad happens to them for chyna.. she was overrated. But what trip h did to.many other wrestlers with a big arse shovel....that part irks...me
The buff "chick" movment in modern times began with ECW's Nicole Bass- shitty in the ring but big. Then WCW had Jacqueline who was a good balance of looks, muscle and ring work, then WWF got Chyna as there big Bich. It was all interesting, but let's be real. WWF was always late with good ideas between 1993-1998 and some of their better ideas were bitten from the other two promotions.
Chyna debuted in the WWF a year or two before Nicole Bass showed up in ECW...and Jacqueline was in great shape, but not comparable to either of those two in terms of size.
"Apparently a surgery or the surgery or whatever to get that fucking Antonio Inoki goddamn looking JAW...fucking somehow bought down to normal size fashion."
If you actually critique Chyna's matches, they were mediocre at best, bad at worst. Not only that, Chyna was a mediocre wrestler. When she was in the 1999 Royal Rumble, she went after and eliminated Mark Henry, only to be eliminated herself 5 seconds later by Stone Cold Steve Austin, she lasted one minute. There's nothing impressive about it. On top of it, Mark Henry laughed at her when it happened. In the 2000 Royal Rumble, she went after Chris Jericho and eliminated him, only to be eliminated by the Big Boss Man 5 seconds later, lasting one minute. When you look at the reviews of the King of the Ring 1999 ppv, people have said that Chyna's King of the Ring against Road Dogg was bad. Plus, people have also said that her match against Jeff Jarrett for the Intercontinental Championship was bad. There isn't a lot of Chyna's matches that are considered five-star matches.
Well you may get mad at Jim for this one but he didn't dance away from it and pretend. Jim can be painfully honest and doesn't pretend to be something he is not...
Some of it wasn't bad the she hulk stuff was alright it was just the fact she looked like she was manhandling the dudes she was having sex with most of the time.
People get real. Chyna could beat wrestles, no problem. Once she got fired, she was Joanie Lauie she couldn't beat Joey Buttafuecco a slob in celebrity fights.
Jim's got an encyclopedic knowledge of wrestling, but is one of those guys will never appreciate women in sports, because the strength isn't on the same level as men's. It's like commenting on a man's good parenting skills, and having someone go "Pfft. He can't even breastfeed. Talk to me after he's been pregnant."
Chyna is amazing. Jim is a hater when it comes to her. As a kid growing up when she was at her peak it was mind blowing seeing her. At that time we’d never seen a woman like that. She was a trailblazer and a superstar!!!
"China's porn vignette put me off sex" - hits the nail on the head. Sex fantasies come in all shapes and sizes and that girl certainly had potential given the right script. Squandered. It's a real shame; a waste.
Can Jim Cornette make it through 1 single interview without saying the word "fuckin" 50 times? I guess he feels that nobody will listen to him is he doesn't say it every other sentence.
Eh. It's bullshit. Pretending Porn is a disqualifier on your wrestling career is just silly. Chyna was never a good worker. But lots of top draws weren't. Chyna was the top female draw of her time with the exception of Sable. And at least Chyna fucking tried. And you need to have something more to say about her than 2 negative interactions that in hindsight weren't that fucking bad. :/
Cornette is a bit heavy handed like usual. She was talented and had the look and was decent in the WWF. She propably shouldn't be competing with men. She was just ahead of her time. Cornette should stick to making stupid trump comments
Listen wrestling is scripted and she is more known than the female wrestlers today I’m sure and as well as some of the male wrestlers , some wrestlers aren’t going to always be nice I’m sure it’s life but to act as if she isn’t a legend that’s a joke , some people don’t like Cornette and doesn’t feel he belonged in the business and Chyna was an ok wrestler for what I remember , but all wrestlers are in the hall of fame because of there wrestling, Cornette is bitter and sounds Jealous of Chyna.

You're kidding right? Fucking hell.
No
Antonio inoki jaw!! Hahaha, goddamn. Oh shit, im dying over here! Oh fuck😁😂🤣
he seems very angry at the majority of the industry...
And specifically women and women's wrestling.
Anyone who isn't a Wrestler or wasn't associated with Wrestling shouldn't be in the Hall Of Fame anyway. So Trump, Drew Carey, Snoop Dog, Kid Rock, Arnold Schwarzenegger shouldn't be in.
Shall I conduct the order my lord?
They shouldn't have a celebrity wing
@@richardmontgomery1749 they should of put Andy Kaufman in instead of William Perry as he (Kaufman) was giving positive credibility to the sport.
Agreed. Unless you are an athlete competing in the WWE you should not qualify
The Taxi driver who picked Vince up when he ran out of gas is also in the HOF! It's quite an Honor!
If Chyna is not allowed in the HOF then Sunny should be kicked out
Chyna is a legend, may she rest peacefully.
"I dont like to speak ill of the dead"
Begins to gleefully speaks ill of the dead. 😑😑😑
Wait for when Russo dies, if he dies first.
I never met her personally and I know she had a lot of problems> I have to take Cornette's professional opinion that she was not a good worker in the ring but her physical strength was phenomenal and she certainly earned her status as one of the women that dominated the women's division and was even impressive lifting men over her head.
COME ON!! Don't tell me you believe that she lifted Men over her head???????? It's a GIMMICK!! They jump above her head!!! Without the Men doing ALL the work, there's NO WAY!!!! The Men can't even lift another Man over their heads without MAJOR help! WRESTLING IS ALL FAKE!!!
jim cornette going to bury anyone he had bad encounter with. regardless how good they may be.
New Jack he buried him in the past but since has made up but has stood by his comments.
@@revans100591 He didn't exactly bury New Jack since he's always thought of him as a psychopath and even recently said he has a reason to be one because of his upbringing. Plus, they are cool with each other if they're both in a room together.
@@prince.fatalis Jack and Corny went sideways for 15 years thanks to Happy Heyman talking out of his arse
I loved Chyna in the WWF...she was great in DX...I think she should be inducted into the hall of fame...RIP Chyna...I think Jim just has a personal thing against Chyna... I actually think he doesn't like seeing women in professional wrestling...he's complimented a few for being nice but overall I think he'd prefer them to be absent from the business
His favorite person in the entire industry is Rhea Ripley. 🤷🏼♀️
One of the reasons I was shocked when they made Jericho the 1st undisputed champ is because like a year and a half before that he was feuding with and getting beat by Chyna.
Maybe he got better LOL
yeah. i never understood the cult of Jericho. he was good, definitely worth a few world titles, but not amazing. yeah he spoke well for tv, so much he went to vh1 (lol), but not a lot of substance. what catchy line is remembered? i did love the entrance.
No matter what, Jim always finds a way to shit on Russo...
@charleskuckel3173 I think its expectations Chyna trained with killer kowliski like hunter so people expect her to be better she looked better when she was the bodyguard
whenever chyna was wrestling i often turned over to goddamn wcw
When he referenced Antonio Anoaki’s jaw, I fucking lost it 😂
@Zach I did misspell his name, didn’t I? 🤦♂️ I’m stupid
I think Jim has some grudge against her
How can u pass a verdict one you barely met
She must had something that made her competitive in men’s wrestling
@@prince.fatalis Yeah, I understand.
No
in many ways her and sable were the same person.
j p Not to suck ass on her but Chyna in 2002 saw her shitty wrestling skills and improved tremendously to compete in NJPW
Fucking hell even when I disagree with Cornette he can still make you laugh in the worse way. Have heard she was hard to work with but I did think she was a pioneer of sorts and built a great foundation for today's women of wrestling. R.I.P. Joanie
I kinda thought 1 Night in Chyna was pretty good.
I just don’t think Jim Cornette likes women who wrestle.
He gives credit and respect where it's due
@@djcease1996 He doesn’t, he’s stuck in the 1900s and talks like he doesn’t really think they should be on TV.
@@EricDidntDoIt I don't agree.
Chinas matches were fucking atrocious 😭

I got to say it was kinda screwed up how China came to the WWE but with no doubt about it she put women's wrestling back on the map!
I'm trying to think 2! Chyna Deserve her hall of fame...
I love cornette but I don't get his hate for Chyna in the ring. She was great! She did big things back in the attitude era! Come on!
Just because she was with HHH and HBK, Jim will bury her. She definitely does deserve to be in the Hall of Fame, no questions asked!
@keller blair For what? What a dumbass question. LOL Is that a serious question? Did you even watch wrestling back then?
She was a jacked up steroid chick does that qualify for hall of fame residency?? If that's the case let's put Nicole Bass in there too, No she does not belong in the hall of fame.
RosalieNSeth Gratz most non wrestling fans know who Chyna is and not Nicole Bass I don’t watch wrestling anymore but my point is Chyna is a legend and if you don’t think so that’s on you.
Eh no
Eh, only people who know what they are talking about should comment,, everyone else should read and learn before speaking.
Never met the woman, but you can tell she had a heart of gold. I hope HHH and Stephanie burn for what they did
Bullshit😂
I couldn't care less if something bad happens to them for chyna.. she was overrated. But what trip h did to.many other wrestlers with a big arse shovel....that part irks...me
The buff "chick" movment in modern times began with ECW's Nicole Bass- shitty in the ring but big. Then WCW had Jacqueline who was a good balance of looks, muscle and ring work, then WWF got Chyna as there big Bich.
It was all interesting, but let's be real. WWF was always late with good ideas between 1993-1998 and some of their better ideas were bitten from the other two promotions.
Wasn't the original monster chick idea imported from Japan's Dump Matsumoto
Chyna debuted in the WWF a year or two before Nicole Bass showed up in ECW...and Jacqueline was in great shape, but not comparable to either of those two in terms of size.
"Apparently a surgery or the surgery or whatever to get that fucking Antonio Inoki goddamn looking JAW...fucking somehow bought down to normal size fashion."
I still liked Chyna
Googled Antonio Inoki...my gosh!!! Lol
4:12 "I saw a clip of her porn" and then it makes Jim speaking stutting like Vince Russo. "It... It... It..."
Some of it wasn't bad the she hulk stuff was alright it was just the fact she looked like she was manhandling the dudes she was having sex with most of the time.
@@revans100591 The acting was bad even for porn.
@@SovereignStatesman well she was bad at doing promos at time so acting shouldn't be no different.
Like watching a car crash
Be honest. You've all blown your load over Chyna's porn at least once or twice.
Love Corney’s videos but he always loses me at politics
People get real. Chyna could beat wrestles, no problem. Once she got fired, she was Joanie Lauie she couldn't beat Joey Buttafuecco a slob in celebrity fights.
Jim's got an encyclopedic knowledge of wrestling, but is one of those guys will never appreciate women in sports, because the strength isn't on the same level as men's. It's like commenting on a man's good parenting skills, and having someone go "Pfft. He can't even breastfeed. Talk to me after he's been pregnant."
He doesn't appreciate Women in Sports because they stink in Sports!
It turned me off sex 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😭😭😭😭😭😭 im dead lmao
The (allegedly) female ultimate warrior lol
Ultimate Warrior had the crowd cheering, Chyna was just...there.
SHE DESERVES TO BE IN THE WWE HOF - SHE DREW $$$
Eh
Superfly Jimmy murdered his girlfriend and got put into the WWE Hall of Fame
The Hypocrisy is astounding. Murderers? Ok in HOF...Trump & Chyna, Bag! Lmao
Jake the Snake and the Iron Sheik removed? It's wrestling, not the Vatican.
She should be in the hof if snoop Dogg in but other than that I agree
Like her or not but she was better on the ring then some of the guy's. RIP 🙏.
Couldn't disagree with this guy more. Chyna was everything great about wrestling during her time. She was a true trailblazer/true talent.
I mean.... except the talent part.
Don't sugarcoat it. Tell us how you really feel.
Chyna is amazing. Jim is a hater when it comes to her. As a kid growing up when she was at her peak it was mind blowing seeing her. At that time we’d never seen a woman like that. She was a trailblazer and a superstar!!!
If only she could've became a Joshi
You could have came in at any point in this conversation and swore to God he was talking about Paige. But yet they keep pushing her
Lol what??? Paige?? How the f are they still pushing Paige???
Didn't he support SUNNY going into the HOF? Sunny... who DIDN'T win a championship and DIDN'T wrestle men but who DID do porn.
Was Jim still at wwe during the Chyna, Stephanie and HHH Love triangle?
@josemiranda9093V1 yep this incident was right around the time he claimed he would get out of dodge once his part at the show was over.
Wow, fucking brutal jim. I bet Brian was pissing himself

I disagree with him. Chyna was legit
"China's porn vignette put me off sex" - hits the nail on the head. Sex fantasies come in all shapes and sizes and that girl certainly had potential given the right script. Squandered. It's a real shame; a waste.

I like jim and hes very knowledgeable obviously. But hes wrong about chyna. She was a big part of an era. You can't do that and be UNTALENTED!
Cornette is a bit heavy handed like usual. She was talented and had the look and was decent in the WWF. She propably shouldn't be competing with men. She was just ahead of her time. Cornette should stick to making stupid trump comments
I got to agree with Cornette. Chyna was a horrible wrestler, and she was even worse on the mic with no charisma.
"More known than the women today" no. Not even close. Chyna wasn't a draw. She was a mid card novelty act. Rousey, Flair, and Lynch got to close Mania for a reason.
I wanted her to win The World Heavy Weight Championship soooooo bad 😩
