Such a crazy best musical race! It feels so unusual not to have a front runner. I'm rooting for either Suffs or Illinoise both of which I loved (especially Suffs), but I haven't seen the other nominees. Overall happy to see the Merrily love, that was definitely my favourite show of the season.
SOLID predictions. I think you may be right on all of them, though I really hope Hell's Kitchen doesn't win Best Musical -- it seems such an uninspired, uncreative choice. I think Ilinoise was the most creative, moving and well executed of any of the new musicals, BY FAR, but it doesn't seem to have much buzz.
It also doesn't NEED the win because it's closing no matter what. I truly think that's In dead last honestly. It's a weird year because all the shows nominated may not be the best reviewed but they're making bank. It's fascinating to think what we would have gotten If Some like it Hot or Shucked held off for a year.
I disagree that Hells Kitchen is uninspired. It's groundedness and familiarity has nuance and doesn't feel like a one concept gimmick, unlike some shows.
You did a really great job! Very solid!
Thank you! 😊

Agreed about not having a front runner for best musical! Sunday night will feeling surprising whatever ends up happening!
Truly think it’s Maryann, Kelli, or Gayle for Best Actress
You and Patrick Pacheco should co-host a theater podcast together-- You’re terrific!
Thank you! 😊

I'm also hopeful for a non-Hell's Kitchen best musical winner. Would love an Illinoise win
I’d wouldn’t see Hell’s Kitchen, I really loved the notebook even though they really did pick the wrong theatre for the notebook
I also don't plan on seeing Hell's Kitchen. I loved The Notebook too!
