Hey mate, thanks a lot for the content once again, is amazing quality really. One question, when it comes to CFP whats the usual split in terms of profit?
Varies on a lot of factors. If you need staking. How big your prior sample is and proven win rate. In the region of 25-50% I guess could be higher in some exceptional circumstances
thank you so much for this video, I really needed a lot these advices to understand how to do it. I only have a question, which is: do you consider still valid you advice about the starting stake even for tournaments? do you even consider tournaments online, especially on PokerStars, to be profitable (because of the huge variance there is on ABI 5/10)?
Federico Santoro honestly not sure when it comes to tournies - but it's all about hourly and roi - if your grinding the $55 with a 20% roi (which is high!) you're making $11 on entry, which divided by the ace hours in the tourney which if it's 5 hours is gonna be like $2 an hour... so you need to play a lot of them and reasonably high to have a good hourly

Or is there a element of natural Poker talent that you just can't learn from a coach, training sites or studying etc? I.e. Is it all about who studies hardest moves up or are some people just born to be better players than others? Cheers!
hutchyw117 good question, I don't think I can answer that without biased. I think there is an element of all 3 things you mention, but I believe regardless of skill or natural ability it's gonna be a hard work to get to the top of anywhere so the most important quality is motivation which comes from a passion for the game or field that you are in

Hey buddy, been enjoying your videos. Just wondering about the visa issue over in Thailand? Was tempted to head over there but kept reading about visa changes and visa runs becoming harder so have my sights set on Danang, Vietnam eventually. Would be interested to know how you go about it. Cheers .
Hey Ginge, literally just found you tonight but watched all your videos lol. Do you think you could make a video explaining your way of viewing Holdem Manager results? I'm new to HM3 using it for small stakes tournaments and have been looking at all in EV and bb/100 over ~5000 hands but I'm not sure how to really use the software. Maybe a video you would suggest watching about it? But would be cool to see you break down exactly how you use the software. I saw in one of your videos a graph with a green and yellow line and you said you ran a bit above EV with the green line being slightly above the yellow, I would love to be able to see something like that for my results! Also just how you would suggest looking at previous hands and trying to learn from them yourself and figure out mistakes. Thanks for the content!!
Thanks for watching! I'll deffo take a look at making this kind of video - but in all honesty I find hm3 much more difficult than hm2. As for tournies you've gotta be careful looking at ev tbh - deep stages in tournies you've gotta do a lot of -ev in game stuff that leads to higher pay outs (but I'm not that clued you about tournies in general)
Depends on your current experience and what stakes they'll put you at/if you need staking. If you don't need staking I wouldn't give more that 30% with staking let's say 50%
If you have a lot of time (due to summer break) how much hours/hands would you play a day? Or do you set profit goals for each session and quit if you have for example 3 buy ins profit?
Mitchel v.d Linde profit goals is a bad idea because you have no control over it. Volume goals are ok - but you need to really focus on quality. X amount of hours of your A game should be more of a goal, plus x amount of time reviewing and studying.
Came from your podcast with Charlie - which was great by the way! I'm currently playing 25nl 6max at 16.5bb/100, bankroll just got to 1700 and am starting to take shots at 50nl... Do you think I should look at CFP?
Do you think beating the med - high stakes in tournaments could be a more viable route to pursue these days? I quit a 40k package (similar to what you did) a year ago and have been making a good amount more than I was working. Obviously the variance in MTTs can be horrible, but from what I've heard you can go on pretty horrible runs in cash too. Also, I have considered a more mixed approach doing both cash and tournaments, is this something you'd advise?
Difference with bad runs in cash is that it's a much stronger indicator you don't actually beat the games imo. I personally would try to master your craft whether that be cash holdem or mtts or plo, get to 90% of what you can achieve in that field before branching off
Hi man thanks for the video but i have a question. Do you think its possible to build a bankroll just playing low stakes tournement because i like to play tournement over cash game.
Hi, why do you advise Zoom vs Ring games? Is the number of hands per hour, or the less chance for colluders to share info and less time for them to strategize, or something else? I find ring games give me time to learn my opponents playing styles (but I don't use a HUD and I don't think they work on 888poker or PartyPoker (not sure).
@@GingePoker Do you think bots or collusion is more of an issue in ring games and 6max games versus Zoom type tables (SNAP on 888poker)? For ring and 6max tables, I try to select tables with no more than 2 player from the same country at NL10.
Al of this sounds great in hindsight...BUT...how do you beat the software? Putting your money in good, when your opponent has 3 outs or less AND constantly hits. How do you fight off these bad players that these sites feed the cards to?
thanks for the video ginge! one of the things im trying to weigh at the moment is a job offer I have thats going to allow me to take home significantly more money which i could invest in my game, but the job is for a shift that im worried about interfering with the time i can invest in the game. I would love to hear if you have any insight there.
QQ - I'd say I'm an ok player, I've completed the Upswing Lab and feel confident in my play, I think I can tackle 10nl, but like you say I can't get coaching or a CFP without a sample (I play MTTs just considering cash now as it's better for scheduling) and considering I earn very decent money in my job, shall I just stick on 1k and build a sample with 10NL?
@@GingePoker Nice mate, tried that last night two table Zoom nl25 and made 4 buyins, I'll get a 20k sample first. Also running each session through Snowie after and have purchased Kanu7's advanced cash course :D
i'm playing 100z , living in south korea really helped Ginge , may i ask you about where you play live game ? is thailand live game is good enough to success or living ? Thx !
Loving your content! It's interesting that you suggest starting at 10NL. I worked my way up from $1.5 to $15 6 player STT's and verging on $30 ones, making money. Now I've swapped to cash games and I'm persistently losing at 2NL. Is there a likely reason for this?
Cash game is 100 BB for a full buy in vs MTTs with often about 60 to 70BB effective stacks, when antes are factored in for the first level, which only lasts 10 to 15 minutes at best. You should use GTO hand ranges for 100 BB, not the 40BB ranges used by many MTT regs. Plus you need to play a more small ball style bet wise, with patience and selective aggression, as the blinds are static and small wrt stacks, so preflop steals are for small profit. Of course, aggro raises multiple times per 100 hands can make blind stealing somewhat profitable if the blinds are nits, but the big money is building a big pot post flop, and winning with or without showdown on Turn or River, much different from many low stakes MTTs (imho).
@@lightonstillwaters6789 Thanks for the insight. I'm playing profitably now and with you on what you say. I just had no idea cash games would be so different!
Does it make sense to go for a CFP to move up from 1/2 to 2/4 and 5/10 just for the coaching? I have a sufficient bankroll for 5/10 but no motivation to study unless I have some sort of a “teacher” keeping a check on me. But I’ve been mentally reluctant to spend $200/hr on a coach who may not be financially invested in me like a CFP. But then again, giving away 50% of my profits to a CFP when I don’t need the “staking” really seems excessive.

As for tournies you've gotta be careful looking at ev tbh - deep stages in tournies you've gotta do a lot of -ev in game stuff that leads to higher pay outs (but I'm not that clued you about tournies in general)
been considering forming a CFP for PLO myself. u got any idea for numbers that seem reasonable? (assuming NL/PLO numbers will generally be the same?)
Depends on your current experience and what stakes they'll put you at/if you need staking. If you don't need staking I wouldn't give more that 30% with staking let's say 50%
@@GingePoker v useful insight ty!
Solid advice here!
Came from your podcast with Charlie - which was great by the way! I'm currently playing 25nl 6max at 16.5bb/100, bankroll just got to 1700 and am starting to take shots at 50nl... Do you think I should look at CFP?
Not if you're crushing that hard tbh - I would just blast into 50 and see how you get on first
@@GingePoker thanks for the reply and your honesty dude :). Fingers crossed it continues!
what was the cash game range app u said ? or the best

Do you think its possible to build a bankroll just playing low stakes tournement because i like to play tournement over cash game.
domgig 21 I have no idea - but I'm sure if you like them that much you will find a way
Love your approach to the game. Do you coach tournament players as well? Would love to talk about possible coaching?
I'm clueless at tournaments! Currently don't do any coaching tho
Ginge Poker let me know when you want to take up coaching. Would love some help with cash games. I’m trying to dabble in the cash games as well.
Are your investments strictly in poker or other things. Like stocks resale state etc
Stocks, ISAs, funds, about to buy a condo and a bar
Hi, why do you advise Zoom vs Ring games? Is the number of hands per hour, or the less chance for colluders to share info and less time for them to strategize, or something else?
I find ring games give me time to learn my opponents playing styles (but I don't use a HUD and I don't think they work on 888poker or PartyPoker (not sure).
I don't use a hud either. Zoom is harder and it's about learning the game at early stages not making money.
@@GingePoker Absolutely. I gave been learning from PokerCoaching Premium, and have some years of live cash game experience at 2 5 tables.
@@GingePoker Do you think bots or collusion is more of an issue in ring games and 6max games versus Zoom type tables (SNAP on 888poker)?
For ring and 6max tables, I try to select tables with no more than 2 player from the same country at NL10.
Top video 👍
Thank you 😊
Bankroll needed for live poker?
Depends if shot taking. I would like 50buy ins if I'm grinding it.
I grinded up to 50nl and its hard to get a network going
Al of this sounds great in hindsight...BUT...how do you beat the software? Putting your money in good, when your opponent has 3 outs or less AND constantly hits. How do you fight off these bad players that these sites feed the cards to?
What about training sites, which stakes would you recommend paying for one, and which ones would you recommend?
Honestly not sure - I'll have a deeper think about it
Personally don't use training sites myself but have in the past
thanks for the video ginge!
one of the things im trying to weigh at the moment is a job offer I have thats going to allow me to take home significantly more money which i could invest in my game, but the job is for a shift that im worried about interfering with the time i can invest in the game. I would love to hear if you have any insight there.
Hard to know - depends what you want out of life and the potential future upside of the job
@@GingePoker thanks for the response. yeah, it depends on a lot of variables
Your personal opinion to build BR zoom or regular tables?
I’m kinda paranoid about collusion on regular tables 👀
Reg tables are softer than zoom so you can play higher so better to build a bankroll there but if you worried be careful
Doesnthis all apply to online tourneys too?
QQ - I'd say I'm an ok player, I've completed the Upswing Lab and feel confident in my play, I think I can tackle 10nl, but like you say I can't get coaching or a CFP without a sample (I play MTTs just considering cash now as it's better for scheduling) and considering I earn very decent money in my job, shall I just stick on 1k and build a sample with 10NL?
Try 25 and if you struggle move down
@@GingePoker Nice mate, tried that last night two table Zoom nl25 and made 4 buyins, I'll get a 20k sample first. Also running each session through Snowie after and have purchased Kanu7's advanced cash course :D
i'm playing 100z , living in south korea
really helped Ginge , may i ask you about where you play live game ?
is thailand live game is good enough to success or living ?
Thx !
Glad it helped! I've played live all over not just Thailand - best place to will be the states for sure when it reopens
@@GingePoker There is games in Thailand? In Bangkok or Pattaya?
What does he say - tenanou? What stake is that?
10nl?
Buy in is $10 with the blinds being $0.10/$0.05
@@GingePoker Sorry - wasnt trying to be an arse btw.. I kind of figured it out after :) I appreciate the content.
great video
i am new player . can i start play nl50 ? or nl20-25 is better choice for me ?
and 30buy in is anought ? or i must have 50x
🙏
Sip your toes in small and if you crush move up fast
Ginge Poker ❤️
Loving your content! It's interesting that you suggest starting at 10NL. I worked my way up from $1.5 to $15 6 player STT's and verging on $30 ones, making money. Now I've swapped to cash games and I'm persistently losing at 2NL. Is there a likely reason for this?
Because you're not playing good enough
@@GingePoker Genius! Thank you.
Hello my dude!! Thank you for your great content and your advices!! I started playing 8 months ago and am a winning player but still recreational..I am searching for one nice coaching and staking for profits deal, do you have anything to suggest me ?? I am already getting staked but not training..
Will be making a video about this
@@GingePoker Thank you :) If you like, please make a video on how to make a database analysis and how we can find our leaks!! All the best
Did you say pokersnowie preflop app?
Yep
How did you find your backer for high stakes?
A player I came up with made a lot of money and then staked me for it, known him for years and he knew I was good and trustworthy
@@GingePoker he must have made an ungodly amount if he's staking in you in big live games. Good for ya'll.
Where do you find those CFP deals?
Video about this incoming
Could you do a vid on HM2 vs PT4 in terms of pros and cons of each?
Since you like HM2, do you think it unnecessary to get HM3?
Yes don't get hem 3, no I won't do a vid because poker tracker is aids
@@GingePoker lol on PT4 remark 😂.b I will try to get HM2, thanks!
You are my hero!!! What do you think what is the minimum bankroll what you need? How muck?
For which stakes and do you have a job or not?
@@GingePoker low stacks or mid stacks and yes I have a job
Palmer Krisztián if you have a job maybe 25 buy ins playing just a few tables is enough to start
do you take on students? provided of course we can show a 25k sample of already beating mirco stakes. and how do we get in touch?
daviddivad777 I wouldn't be interested in small stakes students at least for now - best thing to do is follow my twitch or insta and I shout out coaches I recommend
