Thanks for doing this one: Eminem is such an interesting artist in the sense that he provides an intimate view into his life because he is honest as a person.
He's gone on record, song and interview, to air out every mistake, fault and issue he's had in the last 30 years of making music. He's always said he's a dad first and a rapper second, and this song is a good encapsulation of that to a tee.
This isnt so much a reaction request (though I'd love to see it as one) but Eminem put a small piece talking about his drug addiction issues on Juice World's album that I think you might have some interesting thoughts on. Its basically an interview compilation where he talks about how he was at the time and what happened with his attitude.
His best friend was killed in a shooting, his on-off relationship and constant touring was hard on him and he developed a pill addiction for stuff like sleeping.

Thank you so much for your great and refreshing way to run your reactions! I actually already LOVE your channel!!! Found it today, and I can't wait to see more of your content!
In my opinion the best way to understand Em, is to go through everything he ever spoke about and rapped that got recorded in chronological order, to see through all aspects of his topics in his music and see how he progressed lyrically through the years... and YES!!! the further thought time you will go, the more you will see more and more wordplays, metaphors and lyrical intricacies, but syllable- rhyme- and rhythmical progression in his music!!! That was happening in general in Rap, but in his specific case it will really help to show you what makes him such a genius and a unique artist!!! And by the way, you can just go on exactly like this. It's YOUR channel, and you should be just yourself and behave in the way you feel most comfortable with😉
Do not think you have to compromise your honesty or originality or anything else because of the bulls*it some dumb asses comment on your videos... I'm really enjoying getting a glimpse into your thoughts and feelings about these songs!

I don’t have kids, just a memory of my dad listening to this song and “when I’m gone” while riding back home from my mom’s place. I used to love them when I was 7-8, didn’t understand anything thought. Unfortunately he ended his life when I was 8, and I just can’t imagine what and how he felt while listening to these songs, with me in his car. Must’ve been extremely painful in a way for him. I miss him everyday and this song will always make me cry. I found comfort to see people relate to this song.

The joy of Eminem, or one of them, is his complexity as an artist. Hes not just a battle rapper, hes not just a funny shock rapper, hes not just a gangster style rapper, hes not just political or making social commentary, he gives us his human sides too. His soft spots. It really has helped and continues to help generations of people

Some background *#Eminem* has his biological daughter hailie who he had with his wife *Kim. Laney* is his ex-wife *Kim's* twin sisters daughter who *#Eminem* adopted because his sister-in-law & husband got into drugs. Who both ultimately died at separate times over the years after that. He also has a third daughter he adopted when he remarried *Kim* which lasted about a year. But when they got remarried she was already pregnant by somebody else & instead of saying take this other guy's child with you (which was around a year old) He kept her & raised her as well.

When he said "Lainey, Uncles crazy aint he? Yeah but he loves you girl and you better know it" He's talking to his wifes daughter from another man. Who he later adopted. He also adopted another daughter, who is his ex wifes sisters daughter. He always references Hailey because that's his blood related daughter, but a lot of people don't know he raised 3 little girls. (into very successful women).

Im not a parent myself, but ive been there for my mom comforting her when she didnt have enough money to get my brother and i presents for Christmas. It breaks my heart to see parents trying so hard for thier children yet life just keeps knocking them down. And i think Eminem did a great job Conveying the feelings of both the parents perspective and the childs perspective with this song.

It hurts but it makes us remember why we foster these children.. so they can sleep without fear, eat without any judgement, and live a happy life. We are going to adopt a little boy, he is 8, he has been thru his mothers divorce, he was given to us when she was imprisoned for drugs.. he is not our blood but god has made him our child.. and he will never see abuse or a hand in his face again..
All that to say i feel you.. i love you..

I could be wrong here but if I remember correctly he has one biological daughter (Hailey) then he also adopted Kim's sisters kid (Lonnie. Not sure the spelling) that Kim was raising for her sister who has/had issues with drugs. Then he I think (and this is the one I am unsure/unclear about and may be wrong about) also adopted a kid Kim had with another guy while they were separated one time. And then he also adopted his much younger brother/half brother (I think his name was Ben? But I am not sure).
He is a very caring and responsible man. He is also a very honest and introspective man and is unafraid on telling how he feels in his music he shares most things about himself in his music good, bad and ugly.

Im appreciative of this stirring video 7:08 Freya, a genuine and maternal reaction. It reiterates and reminds us that life is deeply nuanced. Your child could be going through it video taping every occurrence with their eyes, digesting the good, the bad, and the ugly. It has made me very empathic and connected to children, especially children without the proper foundation that they need and deserve. My abuse and trauma has messed me up permanently for the rest of my life. Im very mentally ill to the point of being disabled permanently, and ive become a borderline alcoholic. Incredible talent and hard work and dedication. One word of advice for you since you seem pretty emotionally open and affected by music... don't ever listen to his song called "Kim" from his 2nd major album.. it's truly terrifying

Idk why you even get hate like that, music should bring people together plus you are just reacting to something you are interested in. There is a lot of learning with understanding lyricism, double entendres or even tripple. Rhyme schemes, inner rhyming. Take your time and the good comments will guide you as well! Great reaction!

I think this was one of those songs that sparked the "But Mum, you don't listen to him! if you'd just LISTEN to him!" argument as a teenager, about why it was Ok for me to listen to Eminem hahah... I don't think I really "got it" back then, but whatever it was I "felt it". (Re: internet hate, I've seen the most elegantly spoken, well informed, intelligent opinions given out in reactions and they still get hate for it. You can never win, you can only learn to ignore. Best of luck with channel!)

Ememem has three sides (especially early in his career) or personaes. There is slim shady who is his more playful, mocking and rude side. Then there is Marshal which is the honest vulnerable raw side. This song is a good example of it. And then there is Ememem which is more his professional and technical side. It also incorporates bits of the other two but not to the same intensity and completeness. It is his side that experiments with techniques and does a lot of cleaver wordplay it also has a different type of emotions then his Marshal side (less vulnerable and with more anger instead of raw rage). This is also his more clear headed introspective side vs his more emotional introspective side that his Marshal side is. Of course as he got older and matured these sides merged a lot into one and now his songs have a bigger mix of the three instead of being primarily just one side. Or have the results of the combination of the three.

If you want to know more about his life before fame another some if "cleaning out my closet" it talks a lot about his childhood and his relationship with his mom and meny of the hardships and issues to do with that. He had a pretty hard life. Went through a lot of things even meny people in the same situation don't go through. There is also a kind of sequel to the song sadly the name of it escapes me right now. It is a bit more mellow and calmer and mature then cleaning out my closet. He has said he regrets making cleaning out my closet which is one of the reasons he made the sequel song. But honestly had he not made cleaning out my closet and gained the catharsis that doing so gave him he may not have matured on the issuse like he did that allowed him to see things in a more mature way and thus couldn't have had the perspective to make the second song (where he makes some amends with his mother). In fact that is true of meny of his songs. Making and releasing them were a way of dealing with the issues allowing him to grow and have better mental abd emotional health thus allowing him to be able to see things better and clearer to then do even more to better his mental and emotional health

Lol I crack up when people tell me that there is too much talking aka "reacting" in my reacts. That's what we do. Also, many ppl just don't understand how much you really have to talk, interrupt, how often you must pause...in order to even be able to get a non-monetizable video uploaded without violating copyright. And the goal is to not steal straight-through content, right? So of course you want to change it as much as possible! You are great~
Oh, have you ever thought of pasting the lyrics to the songs you react to in the description or a pinned comment? I see some channels that post remakes/covers and others that do that. Idk if it's something you want to do, maybe some ppl would like to be able to read over them?

Im gonna give you some advice. The amount of hate you get online as a public person is more than we have evolved to be able to handle. If you find you cant handle it, thats okay. At no point in history has anybody been exposed to as much social rejection as an online personality is exposed to today. If you find that its costing you your mental health, be careful in considering if this the right path for you. Its not for everyone, and I say that in the most respectful way. Health comes first. With that said: I really loved your reaction! It was genuine. So I encourage you! As for the song: good art is relatable, and it relates to the things we keep for ourselves. That is why art matters. It shows we are not alone where we think we are.
