MH4U session: A trip to the woods

Free hunts have been a thing in the MH series for a while via gathering quests. With the release of Mh Tri, the feature was much improved, with the ability to hunt many of the monsters that called the deserted isle home, without having to having to turn in a paw pass to complete. So with Tri, free hunts truly became a own feature, with no timer, reward loss, or possibility to fail. With the release of 4U in the west, the free hunt system was reworked. The unique hunting ground for free hunts is the Everwood, which is somewhat randomized in layout each time you explore. The monsters you fight are unlocked through progressing through the guild for the most part, with a few tied to village. Free hunts give access to Guild quests, which is where the true endgame grind of MH4U lies, with the semi randomized armor and weapons depending on the monster(s) and listed weapon and armor type. The most powerful weapons and best talismans can only be gained from GQs, as well as armor pre gemmed wih all the best compound skills in the game ( edgemaster, edge lore, prudence, arcana, etc).
All said, why the free hunt? Well, if I am remembering correctly, Savage deviljho is only found in the G-rank everwood, and it happened to spawn. I need some claws to upgrade the Stygian Zinogre LS, so off to the woods I went, because I need those fingernail clippings.
