  • In this video, I'll tell you why I love using a rotisserie to cook some amazing food on my Weber kettle. The rotisserie I bought made by Shinestar is a great budget-friendly alternative to the pricey Weber Rotisserie. I'll also talk about why you should still counterbalance your rotisserie to prevent slips.

I have had mine since Thanksgiving of 2023. Turkey, pork shoulder, chicken, baby back ribs. All turned out great!

If I were marooned on an island, a weber kettle is "the one" cooker I'd want with me because it does everything.

I can definitely agree with that

@@tomwadek To add, I think Weber lowered their rotisserie price because there are so many third-party vendors that people are choosing to buy instead of spending $235 for the Weber.

I have a Weber gas grill, a Brinkman smoker (that I've NEVER used - I just keep forgetting that I have it, but to be fair, it's a smaller one and the wife bought it and we never think about it due to the other choices we have) a Blackstone Griddle grill and I have an old 18 inch Weber Kettle that I bought probably twenty years ago. So, two summers ago I upgraded to a new 22 inch Weber Kettle, and I am just lately starting to use that way more than the gas one. I was about to throw in the towel because no matter what I did, I couldn't get the kettle to stay hot long enough. I am still trying to master it, and most of the time I just leave the dampers wide open both on the top and the bottom, but I think the key is I wasn't being patient enough with the stuff I was cooking. Mostly chicken, but also ribs and a steak once in a while. Anyhow, just today, I decided to order one of these rotisserie attachments for the charcoal grill, and it'll be here in a few days from Amazon. Also, again ironically, I bought a Weber rotisserie attachment kit for the gas grill, three years ago, and have NEVER even used it. I know, dumb, but I keep forgetting about it too. LOL. Great review and video man. Thanks for this.

I have the performer that I got for my father’s day gift for myself. About a month later someone posted in our city’s fb page that they have one out on the curb for free. I didn’t see the post till 2 hours after it was posted. It was only a couple miles away so I figured WTH. Got there and it was still there!!! Only thing wrong with it was the bottom vents were locked up. Think it cost me $10-15 to fix that. Now I have 2 22” kettles. The performer stays at home and the regular kettle stays in the camper. 😂

The shinestar sets over the rim controlling the airflow up through the lid vent and the Weber rotisserie has tabs that hold it just inside of the bowl with an air gap. I have the Weber one but I think having no air gap is better. Great video Tom!

I don't normally go for "gimmicky" cooking things (i.e. beer cans for chicken, flavor "injectors", and the like). But for some reason, rotisseries actually _do_ work. I can tell a rotisserie roasted chicken over a non rotisserie chicken immediately. I want to talk sh*t and say they don't work but I can't, 'cause they do. It causes great cognitive dissonance; does not compute.

Hey Tom, you don't seem to be using the shaft bushing to seat the rod onto the rotisserie. 3:58 for example, the rod is sitting straight onto the ring, and the bushing is hanging in mid air.
      Any particular reason?

@@daveevans2710good eye, for the video I wanted to show an example of slipping. Also for the leg of lamb, it didn’t work well and still needed a counter weight.
