    What an utterly fascinating video. I had to go back to 1:40 when Lena said that some papers could be up to 7 inches deep! Build with A&E has to one of the finest youtube channels within the building and renovation sphere, particularly when it comes to the level of skill and the detail provided; I learn something new in every episode I watch. Thank you so much for posting.

    Utterly fascinating. We had anaglypta all over our house when we bought it. A nightmare to remove because it had layers and layers of varnish on it. Yup, varnish! Obviously it was very expensive when first hung 😳

    good video ,never thought about wallpaper in that period ,now I'm thinking about how they papered those high walls and what paste they used interesting

    Great video! This is really interesting, on our last project the hall stairs and landing still has the original lincrusta on the walls and ceiling’s. we will be returning to the property next year to replace some damaged pieces. Lincrusta don’t have the presses to make the pattern we’re after anymore but anaglypta said they can reproduce it for us so it will be interesting to see the match.

      @Renaissance1964 4 года назад +2

      Hi James, depending on where you are in the country, I could help put you in touch with talented Lincrusta restorers who could replicate the areas of damage and perhaps save you a major job, as this stuff is not easy to remove and oh what a shame if it is lost.

    Was the 7 inches thing a mix up? Not 7 cms? Would like to get confirmation Tony? Thanks

    • @Renaissance1964
      @Renaissance1964 4 года назад +2

      Hi Jamie, 7 inches is correct, some of the embossed raised relief papers from the turn of the twentieth century produced round and square mouldings that protruded beyond the ceiling mouldings. This was in order to imitate highly ornate ceilings from the 16th and 17th centuries. A 'Boss', as they were known could indeed be up to 7 inches deep. We are still not sure how they were manufactured, hopefully one day reference material will come to light that will aid our understanding further.

  • @GreatGreebo
    @GreatGreebo 2 года назад +1

    I wanted to enjoy this video but the fairly prominent, generic background music was extremely distracting and just did *not* fit in with a conversation about historical 19th century wallpaper 🤷….unfortunately I have to click off before the halfway mark.

  • @truthseeker444
    @truthseeker444 6 месяцев назад

    You have original creator content, with interesting information, what on earth is the point of that awful irritating music in the background? Its awful, and it really distracts from what is being said!
