Great video Kevin for beginners like myself, I'm at the hovering stage with a T-rex Align 450 size. That smart hele is amazing. Thank you for all the lessons you are an inspiration to the rc world
As a long time fan, a long time rc plane pilot, and a recent rc heli pilot in training, this video was an awesome find! You've done it once again Kevin!
I have been working on 3d flying really hard, so this was really fun to watch. I liked the story about your flying field and learning how to hover upside down!!! It's so rewarding to transfer your learning from the simulator to real life :D
Bro, I stepped away from the helicopter world for a year, cuz I wasn't making progress. And lack of flying areas...blah blah. Soo...quads and tiny whoops FPV were my next move. I learned to solder, I learned a lil tuning and flying in all modes. The small size and I applied what I knew about helicopter stuff made the transition easy, so to speak. Got 30+ quads, mostly 65mm. Why have I returned? I have learned to program my RadioMaster Zorro via RUclips. Using the XKK100 and XKK110 as my practice helicopters, I find the game pad style controller helps a bunch! Nevermind the fact, through FPV, I learned I needed glasses....that was 50% of the battle. Anywho, thanks for the entertaining YET very informative content. You have helped before and surely you will help again. Much love!
Been flying for about a year now and I can say it’s been a heck of a journey and learned so much building my heli and flying. It’s a blast too. I have a kraken on the way can’t wait to get it together!
Great to see another heli vid again. One of your first kraken videos actually got me looking at SAB instead of align. I got myself a raw 580 and having a blast with it!!
Been flying a while and have to trim my 3D heli down so it’s much slower so it won’t flip so quickly. Still learning but gone back to a 4 channel fixed pitch to get my thumbs back. Would love more heli/tip videos kev. Keep up the awesome work you do.. Cheers 🤟🏻
The most important to remember is the orientation of your 🚁 while way up in the air. im a rc heli pilot for years. To expensive to learn lol by the time you master it your $$$ already deep. but heck of fun!
I've been flying heli's for a long while, I can do inverted and even slightly have my own routine. Whoever says you don't fly well is an idiot lol. And you are super modest. U can actually kill it with heli's. U are not beginner or intermediate. Mate you are an advanced pilot for sure. Im in a flight club of over 200 members, at least 50 are active weekly, 20% are heli pilots. You are as good as our best heli pilot. As always nice vid for new heli enthusiasts .
Thanks a ton for the registration info. I didn't k ow anything bout it cause I bought my helicopter over ten years ago. Just waiting for parts to get er back flying and watched your video. Here in Canada anything over 250 grams has to be registered. Thanks man.
Another brilliant video. Great content, educational, no crap and some laughs! ".. guys I'm not a helicopter expert. I can only fly up side down, loops and rolls.."
Enjoyed the video Kevin, I have been flying for years now but only as an adult my parents could not afford them or the cars. I will say i taught myself and learnt a lot with the simulator i started with fixed pitch Piccolo a few others then Align 450 carbon around when they first started my local shop owner was a world champion who helped me move forward and into scale my first petrol was a 30 class that was like fling an RC Fly Mo lawn mower up side down and would tell anyone who does not want to get hurt find somebody that knows what they are doing and your local model shop is the best place to start but if you buy online and not from them they generally do not want to know my own local had a bench in the shop that you would take it to once built and they would check everything before you turn it on trust its worth it.
It was great that you gave an explanation how helicopters mechanically achieve positive and negative lift. That was awesome. However just wanted to point out one small detail. You mentioned the left stick controls throttle as well as pitch. That is accurate if you are on what is called "Normal Mode", however if you want to do 3D flight you need to have a flat throttle curve that keeps headspeed constant at any pitch. Basically if someone follows your advice and links the throttle to pitch and attempts to go upside down, when they are on negative pitch they motor will die out. I know that people will probably learn this when they get as far as building their own heli but people do make this mistake if they get used to lifting off on normal mode. Anyways, good video just wanted to point that small detail out.
As much as I would love a good high end Helo, the Kansas wind just says no. Flying airplanes is a lot easier and due to the Aviation industry here in Wichita we have a large dedicated community. There is also a large Rc park for planes. I stick with Rc cars simply because you can use them anywhere.
28:50 that's the way i flipped the heli to inverted when i was learning, it was a raptor 50 and nose in inverted felt real easy to me, tail in inverted and side on inverted was like learning all over again but i got there eventually. Realflight 3 flight sim definitely helped as well to learn inverted flight.
i am a beginner, and your advice is very helpful, i don't have enough money to buy expensive ones but your advice is very helpful to me. love from Vietnam 🇻🇳
Awesome vid! Great Explanation of how the big rc Helicopter works. Which is super useful for trying to visualize how a full size helicopter works mechanically seeing the blades pitch and the servos moving things..
I remember putting my MCPx into trash a few years ago practicing inverted funnels and stuff, never gonna make that mistake again to try something new too early haha. Lovely Video as usual Kev
Such a great video, I always wanted to learn how to fly a rc helicopter. And this video gave me the knowledge I need, down to starting on the basics like I needed.
Honestly love your channel Kev! I don't own anything RC but would like to get something in the future. I always wanted a tamiya when I was a kid. So tempted to get a Top Force after seeing your build video. Probably better cars for the same money but the nostalgia trumps it for me.
Always putting out fantastic content Kevin. I have been flying collective pitch helis since I was 12 years old about 18 years now. You're always learning something new. I crashed so many helicopters in my time. I remember learning with training gear that had tennis balls on it with a nitro heli at the time. I still fly once in a while but I now prefer RC cars as it's much more relaxing, lol.
Blade nano was my first RC Heli... And it’s still flying. I highly recommend a tuning swash plate, the original broken way to fast. Parts are actually not that expensive. 👍
That's funny I'm actually watching this video I'm actually surprised I just had my 3rd surgery on my hand because I had an accident with my T. Rex 650 it cut the part of my hand in 7 places immediately it's still intact but I have metal pieces inside to support my hand now, very scary situation wonderful video thank you
Watching you on the simulator was fascinating......seeing the reaction of the helicopter to the stick position was brilliant 👏 You keep saying you're not very good.....ha ha....YES you are good 👍 😀
Omp m1 or m2 is a great brand to start with, cost more initially than a blade, but the spares are much cheaper and easier to get hold of in the UK least in my experience. Absolutely agree, Sim is harder than real life flying haha
The first heli I ever bought was a blade 450 with flybar. Hated it. Bought a Trex 550E and loved it. So much more stable. Sadly the 550E suffered a BEC failure and lost all power while it was about 400 ft in the air inverted. Cracked the carbon frame and obliterated many parts. It was too far gone to bother repairing it and now it's a box of bits in the barn. Not bought another since. I miss flying helis!
Always super interesting and cool videos to watch. Seeing you on the simulator I was wondering if you were planning to create a Twitch channel to stream RC games/simulators or racing games for example (like Assetto Corsa…). Otherwise I always enjoy watching your videos even being French 🇫🇷
Hello kevin very good video !!!! Finally someone talk about the magical world of 3d helicopter 🤣 I'm a professional 3d heli pilot and I do a lot of competition, i really enjoy this video !!!!
💪👍🏻✊ Always FUN to watch. Wreking stuff 😁. simpel explanations with sometimes a girl says bla bla . Keep doing your e thing Thanks 😊 Greetings from Holland
You should also practice auto rotations as well. Not only are they fun when you learn to do them correctly, they could save you when the motor dies assuming you have a larger model with blades that auto well. I only do auto's on the larger models as they don't work very well on those micro heli's. When we used to have glow engines on these things, it was a must. The bottom line for learning is lot's of sim time learning all the orientations both in hover and in forward, backward, side, and inverted. You don't have do do all your maneuvers really fast either. It's much better to practice maneuvers using a smooth slower style first. Later, you can then speed everything up, but I enjoy the slow to medium speed the best.
What a great video i always wondered how people done these manouvers. That sim looks great i like the idea of smashing it into the floor at high speeds with no cost. Ive had the tiny ones before and broken a few lightbulbs and scared the hell out of the cat. Even had it tangled in the mrs hair lol
Awe Kevin love your videos man, I've been getting back into my mini t team losi and I rate if you do a vid with that either v1 or v2 and then using hopup options try to send it to the moon and not crushing it while letting it rip with your mates with maxxes would be flippen epic :D
So.. Why hasn’t Horizon hired you yet. I’m literally gonna go buy a blade nano n bind it to my old DX6 lol should be fun… Thanks again Kevin. I may even crash a few planes this weekend. Your great for the hobby keep it up.
I put a hoola hoop on the skids of my Blade 400 heli while learning to hover in ground effect, it saved me a lot of money not crashing as the hoop hit the ground and not the blades. I started on twin blade helis much easier to control and no tail rotor. I was waiting for you to stand on your head while on the simulator to fly it upside down 😂 every time I crash the Blade 400 it costs between 30 and 80 quid to repair it.

You should do a shorter video, correct that little detail of the throttle/pitch and you would have an excellent introductory video for flying RC helicopters which I think would be very useful. One hour feels like a lot I am sure you go into detail and there are ton of good stuff but probably a shorter just introductory video would be amazing.
Wtf 50 min?!?? This is great! I am getting some popcorn
🤣🙌🤣
Yeah bro 😂😂
Extreme Entertainment 🤣🤣🤣🤣
yep
:D
As Ive heard it said before: " An airplane naturally wants to fly, a helicopter just beats the air into submission".
Great video Kev.👍🏻

I love vids like this from Kevin, where I can sit down and work on my rcs while I learn more about while kev does the same.
Another brilliant video. Great content, educational, no crap and some laughs!
".. guys I'm not a helicopter expert. I can only fly up side down, loops and rolls.."
I you hadnt pointed it out i would have just agreed with him.😀
Once in a while those longer video are a good treat!
love how he emphasises about how this vid is not for becoming a pro its really about just having fun. that's what its all about
Enjoyed the video Kevin, I have been flying for years now but only as an adult my parents could not afford them or the cars. Love helicopters ! Just got back from doing 5 flights at the club, flying airplanes this evening 👍🏻
Been waiting......and waiting....for a long kev talbot vid!!!! Love it!!
Love from Pennsylvania usa!!!!!USA!!!!!!
Kev, your the best!!!
Honestly love your channel Kev! I don't own anything RC but would like to get something in the future. I always wanted a tamiya when I was a kid. So tempted to get a Top Force after seeing your build video. Probably better cars for the same money but the nostalgia trumps it for me.
a good exercise to learn orientation on the sim is put loads of rudder trim in then hover on the spot. keeps the cyclic busy.
Loved this. Great information. I've always wanted to fly but have been intimidated... mainly by my lack of knowledge. Great ice breaker video!
Love the videos I have been watching for like 4 years keep it up
I just got a 230s for christmas and i love it, this video is just the perfect thing for me to watch
This is so cool to see kev in a new type of rc. Have fun kev. This is awesome.😁🙏💯
Oh, yeah nvm then. Hehe

Kevin, I love ur vids!! Even though I’m not a big fan of copters, you still entertain me with content! You are the one that has gotten me into rc!
Really great video Kev - thanks for that! I suppose I'll get into the flying hobby... That could be a lot of fun.
I've never been interested in helicopters but watching your video has changed that
Love how you can throw these helicopters about, You should try an fpv drone though,it's just as hard to learn but awesome once you get the hang of it.
This is amazing I’m learning so much about rc helicopters
Kevin! Great video, can't wait for your foray into FPV! ! !
That's funny I'm actually watching this video I'm actually surprised I just had my 3rd surgery on my hand because I had an accident with my T. Hey Kev for your monster truck you should check out a backup camera.
yes!
Watching you on the simulator was fascinating......seeing the reaction of the helicopter to the stick position was brilliant 👏 You keep saying you're not very good.....ha ha....YES you are good 👍 😀
Love your videos Kev keep up the great work
hye kavin introduce me from Malaysia 👋
I like watching your channel🤙
Been waiting for another Heli vid, good stuff man!! Thank you so much for bringing more light to the hobby!!
Kev why dont you try the DJI fpv drone or any fpv drone.
think it would be really awesome to see that series
Omp m1 or m2 is a great brand to start with, cost more initially than a blade, but the spares are much cheaper and easier to get hold of in the UK least in my experience.
Absolutely agree, Sim is harder than real life flying haha
It’s no longer Kevin Talbot…….it’s Kevin Szabo! Good to see. Love all your stuff kev
Hey Kevin I really love watching your videos, could you maybe do a review on the Arrma granite voltage? You're the only person I trust with a review!
The first heli I ever bought was a blade 450 with flybar. Hated it. Bought a Trex 550E and loved it. So much more stable. Ah, the cr4ppy BEC years. I remember them 😂 Stuff is way better now fortunately.
38:34 I expected: "..and then we go outside and take it for a rip yesssssss!!"
RC Helicopter-Kevin is much more calm than RC Car-Kevin :D
Always super interesting and cool videos to watch. Seeing you on the simulator I was wondering if you were planning to create a Twitch channel to stream RC games/simulators or racing games for example (like Assetto Corsa…). Otherwise I always enjoy watching your videos even being French 🇫🇷

Love these long videos Kev
I used the RealFlight software over 14 years ago. It was awesome back then. I can only imagine the latest version with a VR headset. Holy cow.
Actually it is to old (DirectX 9) to work on a PC wich can handle VR 😅
Kevs got the lawn mower out again! Yessssss!
I'm normally not this early but I always keep notis on.
Hi calvin where u frm
you amaze me again Kevin
He really does not disappoint
this is a rlly good tutorial that will leeave no questions good job kev
I especially love your heli content!!
Man, I'm loving your channel. Now I realise where my share of enthusiasm went :)
Almost an hour of Talbot! Get in
your videos always make me happy
Awe Kevin love your videos man, I've been getting back into my mini t team losi and I rate if you do a vid with that either v1 or v2 and then using hopup options try to send it to the moon and not crushing it while letting it rip with your mates with maxxes would be flippen epic :D
That was a fantastic heli video! Great one Kev :)
So.. Why hasn’t Horizon hired you yet. I’m literally gonna go buy a blade nano n bind it to my old DX6 lol should be fun… Thanks again Kevin. I may even crash a few planes this weekend. Your great for the hobby keep it up.
Cuz I love your videos especially the bashing ones
Me too, I don't mind watching other people bash them up lol.
one of your best video's yet!
Please make more longer heli vids. That kraken 580 is gonna be my next heli. Just built the raw 420.
whenever I here the yeyeyeyeye sound i get ready for the crash. thx kev
Very good video on helicopters, you must do more 👍.
You should do more videos like that. That was good.
Great video Kev! Really insightful for those looking to get into 3d flying 👍
Nice work kev, good insight video plus vinny is proper cool 🤘
Great helicopter. Love your videos.
Great video Kevin, watched while fooling around in the Hangar. Dam you, I want to try the Blade Nano 😀
Kevin should have been a teacher of some sorts. He does well explaining stuff. For me anyway.
Hello from southeast alaska I hope you have a good day bro
Kev I love your videos especially bashing ones
YAY NEW KEV VIDEO!
Love the longer vids kev
5:50 you its like a walk in the park, you know that can get preaty hard when its dark with no light, you gonna walk into someting
Awesome video kevin, ave u tried flying the freestyle fpv quadcopters?
Oof! InterLink DX sim controller. I have one of those & I wore flat spots in the pots in the gimbals around mid-stick (on both sticks) within six months' worth of regular use.
It was one of the reasons why I went to my RadioMaster TX16S Max Edition. I knew that had hall-effect gimbals & I knew that I was going to be spending more time in the simulator than I do flying IRL (because weather, physical location, & my nearest flying club is over an hour & a half's worth of a drive away).
i have the nano s3 and it's an awesome starter. haven't played a simulator yet, on pc my flying experience comes from gta, x4, star citizen etc :D i have a clone of that e119 from hobbyking, it's really easy to fly, so i got the nano and it's a totally different beast. if you can't fly it's definitely nothing for indoors except if you own a huge warehouse :D i fly it over grass and it can crash from 5-10 meters without any damage, it's really a great little heli for starting and learning 3d stuff
Expo is more a pilot's choice indeed. Even pros end up using expo. Some of them do, some of them don't. It's a feel thing, depends how the radio sits on your hands, how your fingers react, which FBL unit you have, etc.
hi frist one to like and i like your vid kevin keep it up
I'm with you Kevin, NO EXPO, helis or planes!
Man the first like 6 minutes are amazing.
Love your videos Kev when are you going to get out your project 200 mph car
