I was at this show. Never knew it was filmed! I went to college in NYC from 85-89 and saw every Bad Brains show in those years as well as having seen them first in FL in 82 and other times before college. My favorite Punk band bar none
Who played with them that night?
darryl is really a master of holding the bass tempo and playing it perfectly yet somewhat groovy at the same time
Yeah. They weren't just bashing instruments around and screaming though they they did that. They first and foremost knew how to play their instruments
Shut up man
Drove up from PA the day before to see Beastie Boys & Murphy's Law play here, followed by this show the next night. Outrageously fun experience, such an intense show!
I'm in my 31s and I discovered Bad Brains 3 months ago, I freaked out! After that, I can't stop dancing like HR...Sublime band!
Do doubt ! HR is incredible front mann ! Stage presence like nobody's biz
There was a time when he was the coolest, most unique front man in the world.
@@TheCiaMKultra HR was the greatest front man that never truly was. But that's what makes him who he is. This guy never sold out and besides his issues he purposely would quit the band or would sabotage his band right before they were on the verse of going pop. I'll always respect HR for keeping true to himself.
@@Humble-iq5ue So very true and telling of what kind of Person HR is to this day , side tracks and all, from the raw footage and interviews that I have been able to catch.
It's the front mans load to carry ( Throat in BB,s case) the band by nature. HR's personality shinned and carved the way for so many people listening to his vocal range and content as they morphed into a sound all of their own. Creating the uniqueness that has been so appreciated . I was humbled to catch them play for the 3rd time in San Fran in the late 90's under the name "Soul Brains" . I was broke and was only able to pick up a sticker instead of a shirt from the merch table but I still have it to this day. I got into punk and Reggae/ dub after listening to them in high school . Down the rabbit holes I went , always going back periodically to the Bad Brains live tracks and new/ then back to the old for a listen . Can't Thank Them Enough for opening that door in so many ways .
Funny, same but I'm 44. I had a BB tape back in the day but had no idea how bad ass they were and what a big deal they were to punk music
I was there…still have the flyer! Beasties played the day before…saw that too! What a weekend! Magic Times.
I saw them do this in London in 87 - unbelievably good, and the backflip was the final supreme statement. I’m blessed to have seen them.
The “Live” record from I think Amsterdam or Paris and “The youth are getting restless” live album/tape were both from 87 and better than this performance but very similar. My favorite period for them was 86 to 88. 87 was a supreme year to me, even better than 79 to 83, so you saw a good show!
By far the best punk music to come out the US
Bad Brains/Poison Idea
Best bass tone ever, im willing to fight anyone who disagree with this fact
Love this band, God bless the Bad Brains. 🙏
Gives me chills…. The FUCKING BAD BRAINS!
It was fierce intense hard driving pandemonium that night.
I saw them at this show. The audience was basically the entire NYHC scene and some hip hop celebrities of that era. There’s a rumor that Prince himself was in the pit. I didn’t see him. Great video!
I was there!
line up? leeway? cro mags? AF?
@@dariiofernando Flipper, Gang Green & Leeway if I recall correctly. Definitely Flipper was played!
@@JJKarpinski lucky guy 😁
So cool see the staff guys sing the songs with the crownd
This is fucking amazing God the world needs bad brains right now
Hoping HR pulls through his recent struggles healthwise..ain't lookin' good for him 😢
This is them at the height of their powers. I saw them for the 1st time on this tour when i was 15. Ive been a Rastafarian ever since. Yes. It was THAT badass.
😂
I don't think it works that way. I think that's called being a poser.
@@Humble-iq5ue how so....?
@@Humble-iq5ue ...and actually that's EXACTLY HOW it works. It was at a Bob Marley concert that they felt Jah for the first time. They passed it on to me but I just kept it for myself!!! Lol..
Amazing!!!
HR goes down a little after 29 and doesn't miss a beat
Thank you so much! This is great! Take care!
The band I most wish I could’ve seen. Great video, thanks for posting.
PMA! 😎! Thanks 🙏 for posting ! Dig on the Footage
This is amazing. I was at this show. Thanks for posting!!
Bless whoever filmed this. And who posted it. THANK YOU!
@mickmod: fucking epic.
thank you so much for posting and sharing.
Yo, I'm so thankful that you uploaded this, roots. It brings me back to my teens when I worshiped Bad Brains. I've been getting back into them heavy the last decade... and this is just a gem as it activates that inner time machine.
I saw them in L.A. at the Stardust ballroom had a great time best band I have seen and I've been to a lot of shows back in the day I've seen all the good ones from Circle Jerks, Adolescents,D.I. Black Flag,DK's etc.
the best. period
Gots to see them Jam as " Soul Brains 🧠" in SF in Late 90's . Epic!
I was there also..saw em the night before in Santa Cruz as well..kinda bummed that HR did not have his usual explosiveness,as those shows were the last time I ever saw them..saw em a few times back in the day as well..BLESSINGS BE,and I hope HR pulls through his current ordeal 😢
@@chadengle141 Small World Bro! Not only were you at the same BB show in SF as but my Name is Chad as well .......no joke .....this is tripping me out...lol . The first time I saw them play was in Sacramento Guild Theater in Oak Park with Def Tones opening 92 or 93. Also saw them at Cal Expo Bill Graham Apm opening for the Beastie Boys in I believe 95
I sure missed out on seeing the Bad Brains live...thanks for the great upload, MickMod!
Don't feel bad I finally got to see em in 2006 when cbs was closing and hr was way passed his prime & looked like he was 90. The rest of the band was rockin out goin crazy & hr seemed like he wanted to be anywhere but their. Was expecting his stage presence to be like this but it was very disappointing. There were a few moments he looked like he was about to go off but just didn't or couldn't physically. I'm pretty sure the videos from cbs 2006 are up here
I have liked them since 90. I could not get to shows HR played since then (and lived abroad where bands did not play) - not many in fact. But I saw them with Chuck Mosely and Israel Jospeh singing. I think HR is doing more dates in the next year. Will hopefully at least get to see him perform.
Wow!! what a show this one was.
Drummer from some fuckin good bands in the house, bet you wished you got to play with these.
@@eugenemclemmont4045 I’ve said in interviews before that Bad Brains would be my dream band to play for. At least I got to play with H.R which in itself was a dream come true. 😉
Any questions?
One of my favorite band ever.
Uf...que pasada.
😍
❤❤❤❤❤
They are the punk/hardcore band that other punk/hardcore bands listen to.
Good job at 15:10 😂
Hahaha 😄
4:39 ✅
I was there Snfu nausea Warzone was a sick gig still mending the bruises
Is there really a skinhead fighting with H.R. throughout this amazing show? He even throws H.R. off stage at one point but he keeps on singing perfectly. Because he can.
Wtf just entered my head?
Dude did a cartwheel on stage..
Do u have more???
I do have some more bad brains, but those will take a little while to get ripped and up on here. There's a super rare Reatards tape coming next saturday, then possibly more Bad Brains after that.
-Mick
It's a shame h..r nothing left..,.love the BB
More please ! I'm salivating !
@@craigsteven74 facts I was just saying that in a earlier comment. Saw em finally in 2006 at cbs when they were closing. The rest of the band was goin crazy & hr looked like he wanted to be anywhere but their at that moment, he looked like he was about 90. Was expecting to see the hr during this time frame. What a disappointment but at least I finally saw em at CB's no less. Just not quite the same ...
The bouncer in the hat is funny. Seems like he's on drugs which is understandable, haha. I like that they're all enjoying the show too
Hes wearing that same hat in the Beastie Boys video for Fight For Your Right. When theyre all walking in the doorway. Slimeballs tshirt on.
That's Joe Bruno, he was a roadie for Murphy's Law. The big dude next to him is Gavin who played guitar in Side by Side, Absolution and Burn.
@@angryeel2864 and he's of no relation to Joey Butcher who played guitar in 80s NYHC band The Crucifucks and went on to form UFOFU here in Dallas with Brandon and Ben Curtis (RIP Ben C.) From The Secret Machines and the School of 7 Bells later.
@@Rand_al_Thor372 How did you make the connection between the guy with the hat and The Crucifucks, because they`re both called Joe?
@@eugenemclemmont4045 yes
