Frank Gore played in the NFL for 16 seasons after 2 ACL tears while in college. As long as the orthopedic exams check out (complete w/knee & shoulder MRIs) and with two consecutive productive & healthy seasons in the books, Penix's health shouldn't be a concern at all

Penix has by FAR the best arm in the draft (accuracy, velocity, and strength) and it's not even close. He needs some work on footwork and vision, but he's the best pure arm easily in the draft. Lot of times a QB just has strength, but Penix has all 3 categories. He's also very fast and can scramble very well, UW just never had him do it (partly because he had the best WR group in the nation).

I don’t think the Giants can go QB whilst still paying Jones big time money. Maye fits better with the Vikings scheme than Penix. If he never twice tore his right ACL, yes. Although he still has an outstanding arm, his delivery changed somewhat. Watch his tape from pre-injury Indiana vs. today. He puts a lot of torque on that shoulder now and favors that knee. When there is any clutter around him, he protects that plant leg and throws off his back foot a lot. He cuts his dropbacks short. He overcomes it at the collegiate level because his arm is so strong, but the NFL is a different league. Time will wear on his shoulder due to this. Cutting drops short and at times throwing late will lead to interceptions. He cant just throw deep all the tome to wide open receivers in the NFL.

Pac 12 quarterbacks are all over rated because the Pac 12 had the worse passing defenses in the country. The highest rated was Oregon in the 50’s. When Penix came up against a good pass defense in Michigan he collapsed. He never showed the same potential against Big 10 defenses at Indiana.

I doubt he'd be top5, he's still older for a QB which could speak to potential and ceiling, he's also a left handed QB which means schematically you are flipping the offense for your WR plays and some guys aren't as adept or used to starting routes on the other side of the field. I think without the injuries he'd for sure be a top 15 pick.
